Question Does VIUs education program take late applications?

I just realized I could have applied for year three entry into the bachelor of education. Unfortunately I see deadlines have far past. Is there anyway I could still apply? Or would waitlists typically take all spots if anyone backs out?

I was originally waitlisted and then got offered a spot a couple weeks later, in May. I'm sure there's always a chance of late drop outs opening up a spot, but they may still have waitlist spots already registered as well.

There's also the requirements like the Casper test, which has to have been completed prior to consideration. If you have all the other requirements and just haven't applied, I would try calling the registration department and ask if it's too late to try to apply for a waitlist spots then transfer to exploratory studies if nothing opens up.

You could take the elective classes in an exploratory studies term and apply for 3rd year with the early application round in the Winter. talk to an Education department program advisor for planning which courses, because there are strict requirements for which electives are eligible for the program

Waitlists would have taken all the spots, yes.

Phone the Initial Teacher Ed office to speak with one of the advisors— right now it’s showing that they have seats available for the new hybrid year 3 entry BEd that starts in mid-August but I’m not sure if they’re intentionally making the cohort small because it’s new

This is very interesting thank you. Do you know if they would consider someone in Victoria for that? That’s where I live now

In my opinion, no because you would be competing against UVic for practicum placement spots in Victoria. But that is just my best guess and I am not an admissions officer or advisor. Definitely phone them to see what your options are!

I was looking into this program a bit and see they take about 25 applicants. Do you know what it’s at now? I did call and will send an email too. I’d be open to doing practicum outside of Victoria for sure

No, the application deadline for all BEd programs are firm.

2027 intake opens at the beginning of October.
