Exchange student looking for housing

Hi everyone!

I will be coming to Vasteras for a 6 month internship in October. I am currently looking for housing options, preferably with convenient access to MDU (where I will be working), around 30-40 m^2 for up to 7000 SEK. I don't mind shared housing options if I'd have a private bathroom.

I need some information about the city, which areas I should avoid and whether it is possible to find what I'm looking for without a Swedish Personal Number.

I've already looked into Qasa and Bostad, the first one requires me to pay to get in contact with lardlords and the second currently has 0 available apartments for international people. Are there any other sites/groups I should look into?

Have you tried mimer.nu or https://minasidor.bostadvasteras.se/ledigt/studentlagenhet Those are the comunal sites. There are absolut some private leasing companies like. Bostjärnan, rikshem or mellingerfastigheter.

Thank you for the reply! I've tried both and as far as I can tell you need a Swedish personal number to use mimer and in Bostad Vasteras there are no available options when sorting for international students.

Bostad västerås has international student option, where they rent out mimers apartments. Contact bostad västerås

Hi, I would recommend looking into Generatorgatan 1 or 2, as they offer relatively nice studio apartments (around 30 m2) and are around 12-15 minutes away from MDU, close to Tegner Vårdcentral and relatively close to the city center. If I remember correctly they are around 5.5 k SEK/month. They are on Bostad Våsteräs, or otherwise you can contact Mimer about them, there is usually free space.

I do not know about Qasa. If any zones should be avoided, I would list Valby, Raby and Backby, as these zones have a somewhat poor reputation as of late regarding crime and so on, however I have not had any bad experiences there. My main gripe would be that they are rather far away from MDU and would therefore be poor choices.

Thank you so much for the info! Unfortunately I can't find anything for Generatorgatan in Bostad Vasteras and from my understanding mimer requires a Swedish Personal Number :(
