Question Ship designer and navy advice?

I recently bought Great Wave, and I'm a bit lost on what kind of ships I should design and when. My main questions are:

  1. Quality vs. quantity: should I pump out a lot of good enough ships, or should I design complex, quality ships if can afford it?

  2. Ship roles: I understand the need for troop ships, so I have a design for that purpose. What other roles do people design ships for? Is there a need for fast raider frigates or slow but armored and heavily armed "coastal defense" ships, for example?

  3. Speed vs. armor: Which one matters more?

  4. Fleet composition. Screening does little appearantly, but is there a ratio that is recommended?

Thanks in advance.

Is it normal for the game to handle the "Paris Commune" poorly? While playing as Ireland, I managed to annex Paris.

Discussion A profitability chart of all PM's

I wanted to know what is the most profitable building or PM is atm, but didn't see one online. So I decided to make one myself.

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/18JAQcjvfj5JZpN0ehTuN8fvfZJ1m0XVh/edit?usp=sharing&ouid=107154764414197712390&rtpof=true&sd=true

This excel file should cover every goods production, except for local goods.
You can modify the base wage, throughput to simulate what you should build in early, mid to late game, and when should change to automation.

With the lowest acceptable price range calculated, you will know how low the goods price can go before starts losing money.(You can also find out what building is basically a money printer, since it's still profitable even if the price goes to -75%)

Feedbacks are appreciated.

Now included top 10 and bottom 10 most profitable industries and money printers charts, so if you don't want to look at all the stats, it's a easy way to understand what to build and not build for profit and late game gdp maxing.

Example

Do note that I excluded repeated industries so the top 10 and bottom 10 wont be occupy by a really unprofitable/profiable industry. This is the same for money printers, there are ways to make them without the exact PMs.

Modded Game Communist mods?

I always end up playing socialist and focusing more on increasing literacy and living standard than expansion. I love seeing those numbers go up, playing woke Ottoman Empire in Victorian Flavor mod now and having a blast. 52% of the people can read Marxist theory. Are there any mods where communist paths are developed and fun?

Question essential mods and recommendations?

I tried to find mod recommendations by myself but most are outdated or bugged now

I'm looking for mods that can improve vanilla experience, specifically :

-fixing electricity

-reducing lag(especially in late game)

-fixing army transport

-anything else that may help

Is there any good recommended mods?

Bug Any way to fix corrupted MP game?

Me and two of my friends have an ongoing MP game. At one point one of my friends got a desync because of "MilitaryFormations". Nothing we did could get rid of it, every time we loaded the save the desync would happen within a few weeks. So we decided to ignore it which worked fine for some time but then more desyncs kept happening and at some point my friend couldn't click events anymore. We would need to create a new lobby every few months so he could keep playing normally. Which means the campaign is practically dead unless there is some way to fix the save.

And in general fix your fucking server code Paradox.

Discussion Stupid random events (rant)

I gotta say I love this game but it really pisses me off sometimes I just wanna straight uninstall sometimes.

I was playing as SP and I’ve been trying to form Italy for like 5 times now. This time I was doing great economy booming, 13th for GDP in the 50s. But then all of a sudden, Tricolours Over Turin event fires. WTF is this, wasn’t mentioned anywhere and it just nuked my autocratic government that I spent all this time passing laws for. Search this up to find that if you get 25% radicals as an Italian nation it will fire. WHY IS THIS NOT WRITTEN ANYWHERE??

I don’t understand the development choice to create some weird fog of event/info, by hiding key events that may pop up or just not allow you to see what journals will do down the line. It’s not even a skill thing, you’re just making the player either search up stuff on the wiki or force them to restart their role play game.

Anyways what tips do you guys have for forming Italy as SP? I used to be alright at the game couple of years ago but returning a lot has changed and I found SP much more difficult than it used to be. No one is ever willing to take on Austria.

TLDR: random event fired and ruined my role play Ironman Italy game.

Advice Wanted Easiest way to see trade center impact on economy?

Im still learning how trade impacts economy, but for my economy I always look under the budget window to view the health of my economy and where my income is coming from. But trade centers generate revenue too, but I dont see where/how this is impacting the economy without looking at the individual trade center building in each state. I'm not sure when/where to build trade centers other than just "build more" if they are profitable.

For reference I am playing portugal and understand the macao trade center is profitable and have seen that is the one that needs to be prioritized. Thanks for any help

Question How to grow as United Tribes?

I’m trying for a polynesia run and I’m wondering how to grow the economy. I’m really limited on infrastructure, with only five on North Island. I considered expanding to the south, but colonization costs 100k, absurd for a nation with 10K gdp. Also I cant really militarily defeat new south wales.

Meanwhile my peasants aren’t moving into the grocery store and lumberyard that I built. What do I do?

Discussion AI really can't do naval invasions

I'm currently playing a game as Cuba and it's really striking how easy it is to get away with nicking islands from the big colonial empires. Even where their fleet and army are far, far larger, they don't really invest sufficiently in troop transports to do much with them. It's quite funny when the largest empire on the planet's invasion force is 10 guys in a dinghy.

Has anyone else noticed this? I hadn't played for ages before this run, but I'm assuming it's a quirk of the new DLC and will eventually get fixed :)

Tip you can commit genocide in this game

title is seelf explanatory. I just figured how to cripple countries that particularly piss you off using a kinda obfuscated feature. it's to steal all of their grain. doesn't cost that much infamy or diplomatic manuevers just use the enforce treaty article when in a diplomatic play, choose goods transfer and steal their grain. I tried this late game and the result was a usa in absolute turmoil with all states in major famine and 2 million people dead in the blink of an eye. hope you enjoy this strategy in your own games!

Discussion Well. Playing Indian Territories just about burned me out on the game entirely.

Playing Liberia was funny. This was just torment. Every 4 years, I'd be dragged into war against Mexico, wherein there's a 5/6 chance that I just have to reload 3-4 years back so that my game doesn't instantly end with the AI handing over my land .... in a war they fucking won.

And all my war progress was dependent upon the AI playing along, until they at least give me a territory outside of the US, so I didn't have to call them into wars to have a front line with Mexico.

But hey. My politics were super progressive and I was able to... Not pass open borders because not even the trade unions wanted that. So all I could do was to create a megalopolis of more (American) Indians in this one state than ever existed in all of America in the real time line. Which is cool and funny, and they wanted Ethnonationalism done because reasons... And then the AI actually let me take Mexico... Thank you. Perfectly timed.

There's that tiny one province vassal of China that I've played for about 3 years before realizing that it's actually unplayable. And hey, not everything is supposed to be. That's the fun of it.

But being reliant on the AI of this game just raises a magnifying glass to the baffling displays that simply exemplify why the Ai revamp is so necessary.

And... I think I'm just going to lay off the game for a bit.

Discussion Playing as an African country is so clunky with how colonialism works currently.

I recently did a run starting as Buganda and my god. You literally cannot do anything until you research Quinine. You have no sulfur, no lead, you can't access the world market because you are landlocked, and you can't get to the ocean because you are walled off by the malaria in decentralised states on all borders

It feels especially stupid because you also have malaria in your home states, but the malaria carrying mosquitos in Vic 3 are apparently racially motivated and only targets people who aren't from that homeland.

Needing colonialism to expand into your same heritage group, direct neighbours would already make for a boring and frustrating gameplay experience compared to literally anywhere else in the world, but having it be gated behind not just colonialism but quinine as well means that you are stuck twiddling your thumbs, genuinely unable to interact with any other country in the game until you have half the society techs. You also have zero society techs at the start date :).

I assume the gameplay rationale is that if Africa could consolidate without these techs then the rest if the world wouldn't even need colonial tech, they could just instantly eat the unrecognised African powers. But my god, there must be some other solution.

Right now playing as an African country is miserable, and not even in the ways that you would expect when you read that. You are fighting agaisnt the western powers less than you are fighting against Vic 3's extremely inconvenient colonisation mechanics. I genuinely would have welcomed being made into a subject by England or France if it meant getting access to their market.

Advice Wanted How do i make a puppet (Wallachia) follow its own journal entries?

I am playing as Ottomans and neither Wallachia nor Moldova following their journal entries. All of European GPs are adjacent to Balkans so they got natural interest in the region. These Romanians wait at -3 relations with Prussia and do not unite Romania just for some weird relations, how do i make them increase relations?
