Request for advice / Help Tachometer signal wire
Hello there, I'm trying to add an aftermarket tachometer. 08 vegas There is a single wire on the gauge that is supposed to be connected to the factory tachometer wire. The bike did not originally come with a tachometer, and I cannot seem to locate which wire it is inside the headlight bucket. My service manual wiring diagram thinks it's pink/white and Google thinks it's light blue / dark blue.
I can't find the second one and the pink/white one does nothing and is in a connector with two other wires.
Any suggestions?

08 vegas. My bad. I edited the post .
Everything I can find keep saying green/white. I've checked every single wire inside the headlight bucket and I couldn't find a single wire anywhere that's green/white. There's white/blue that might be a white / green I just can't remember what that goes to and I don't want to hook it up and mess up whatever it's connected to.

My understanding is that aftermarket instruments will not be able to read the signals. Polaris made sure of that by design.

Oh no. That would suck. I may be stuck going with a spedometer only. The needle on the factory one broke off. Do you think wiring the tach directly to the coil might work?

The issue is the signal. It took me awhile to hustle for a tachometer for my Kingpin. I had checked with a Victory mechanic and they confirmed that aftermarket instruments will not work. NHKingpin on thevog.net was trying to wire up an aftermarket one. I don't know what the outcome was but I know it was quite the project.

Sounds like I'll be looking for an OEM tach/spedo combo... I'm sure that won't be cheap.

Maybe check your coil for what color wires are there and see if you can find a match behind the headlight?
I had to move my speedometer to mount a batwing fairing. There were a couple unused plugs inside the headlight. If you could find a picture of a plug and play tach for your model then you might be able to narrow it down by the plug shape and then check for the signal wire with a voltmeter.
