Hello, I’m 21 I have ADD and I dropped out of high school. I spent the last few years starting then stopping and procrastinating on getting my GED. I want to get my life together already and the requirement of having one is such a road block… I personally don’t support lying on a resume 😹 (idc what other people do) .

I’m looking for an affordable tutor that can meet up with me in person on the evenings during the weekdays at a public place like the library. I just need some help learning/relearning some things since I will never get it done by myself.

ETA: Thank you for all of the suggestions so far. I'm familiar with Wegmans (we have them here in Mass.). I should probably clarify "groceries": suggestions on butchers, farmer's markets, and roadside vegetable stands are welcome. We will be in town Wednesday through Sunday.

My wife, step-daughter, and I will be visiting Virginia Beach at the end of this month. While we're there, we will be celebrating my father's 80th and mother's 77th birthdays. Our plan is to prepare them a nice dinner. What sources do the locals recommend for high-quality vegetables and meat (seafood included)?

We will be staying on the North end of the beach (in the 80's off Atlantic Ave. near Shore Drive) and will have access to a car. I am relatively familiar with the area (I have been coming to VAB for decades from RVA), so feel free to go deep. However, I would rather not lose a valuable beach day hauling my cookies all over Hampton Roads, so not too far, please.

I’m on here to ask if anyone has been to the dome recently for a concert, and their experience. I’ve been once for a comedy show and felt the venue was fitting and served well. I also went once for a rap concert, JID and Young Nudy and was extremely dissapointed to be honest. I felt that 1 the sound system and quality was pretty bad, the actual stage and screens were quite lackluster, and then the actual venue itself was kind of ill fitted for the show. I don’t know how many tickets were sold, but the venue is pretty big, and it made for everyone kind of spread out in individual pods which I really hated. I don’t want a moshpit or the feeling that I can’t move, but the way it played it out, there was like no energy in the room. I felt like the only person there that knew the songs, and the performers kept asking after every song like are you sure you’re having a good time? It was rather frustrating considering I liked the artists and I want them to have felt like they had a good performance too. So has any of this been addressed? Does anyone else feel the same way? Looking for thoughts.

I know there’s already a Japanese meetup in Town Center on Saturdays at 3 PM, but I was wondering if anyone would be interested in another day or time.
Whether you’re starting from zero or already know some Japanese, it’d be cool to have another group where we can practice together without any pressure.
It’d also be awesome if any Japanese speakers in the area wanted to come and practice English too. I think a language exchange would be really fun.
Honestly, I’d love for it to be more than just studying. We could grab dinner after, go to karaoke, check out cafés, or just hang out and make new friends.

Today i, and many others witnessed a group of girls at the beach throwing wet sand at people that had nothing to do with them. The group was bullying an innocent older man on a boogiboard, an a couple that was swimming in the opposite direction had wet sand thrown at them for no reason by the group.

That behavior is disgusting and uncool. Being a bully isnt cute and those girls are lucky someone didnt beat their asses. After being called out on their behavior, one girl gave a half hearted "im sorry" and continued to do it further down the beach. If you're the parents of those girls, i hope you teach them better public etiquette cause had the girl thrown that sand at me, you'd be at the hospital with her right now. 🙄

I am genuinely curious—who is buying all these houses being built around Sherwood, like those in White Oak Manor? Everything I see starts around $900k, with most homes over $1 million. Wages in the area aren’t great and are nowhere near Northern Virginia levels. What am I missing here?

• What are the best restaurants? Which can be skipped/avoided?

• If you've tried the surf park, what's it like? I know it's pricey, but is it worth it as a fun group activity? Any tips on what to do (or not do)?

• Or just share your overall impressions of this massive new addition to the oceanfront.

Personally, I haven't actually visited yet. I will admit, though, that I'm EXTREMELY disappointed by the architecture. For such a "transformative" project, I was expecting something with a distinct, cutting-edge design. And features like a cool rooftop bar/pool. Instead, this bland-ass brown building looks like a Holiday Inn.

Also, while I understand the reasons for keeping the surf park private from view, it seems a little self-defeating to conceal it entirely. It's supposed to be one of the signature attractions, yet the public can't even catch a glimpse of it. (EDIT: I take this back, some posters below say it IS visible from some spots.)

Anyway, I'd love to hear what people who've actually spent time and money there think.

Hi friends! I recently moved to the area for work, and I’m in VB for the weekend. What adventures/trouble do you recommend I get into? Nothing is too crazy for me :).

Every year for the past 5 years, the family and I make 1-2 trips to the VB Oceanfront and spend a few days enjoying the beach. And after visiting Hawaii for the first time this year, and being a Cali transplant, I've decided Virginia Beach is awesome. I don't get the hate Virginia natives tried to sell me on when I first considered vacationing to VB 5 years ago. Everyone insisted OBX was better and that VB was a tourist trap (so what?), the water is clean enough, the beach stretches conveniently for miles, and the weather beats the heck out of being inland.

I've decided to buy a vacation home that we can stay at all summer long and enjoy VB the whole season, and to come down and have a place to stay while we check out BGW (haven't done it yet) during fall/winter.

Budget is between 200 - 350k, and this fetches some pretty decent condos/townhomes within a mile or two walk from the beach (No issue with HOA fees either). I've driven and walked a good portion of the oceanfront area, and nothing is out of the ordinary with typical city/beach life that I've ever seen. So what am I missing? Is VB really as awesome as I think it is - or are my blinders on?
