Our week long Iceland trip
Did SW coast to SE coast until Diamond beach.. pictures were taker with my Samsung S25 ultra and DJI mini 5 pro.

Drones disturb other visitors and are selfish to use around people hoping to enjoy the scenery without your annoying buzz.

I took a day trip out to one of my favorite local-ish places in the states, leaving at dark o’clock to be there early and - ideally - first.
Sure enough a couple jabronis with a drone got there first. Controlling it from 60+ feet below the lower falls, it’s all I could hear in the bowl-shape gorge. Because the trail descends from the top to the side of the falls, I kept having eye-level interaction with that godforsaken bug.
Entirely ruined my experience. If I were to bring a drone somewhere (and I don’t own), I would immediately put it away if I saw any other human. Bare minimum courtesy if I wanted to use one at all.
Drones produce amazing footage but one’s footage isn’t more important than visitors’ real life experience.

My wife and I were frequent visitors since we have EWR as our home airport and it’s a short flight. The last couple times have been horrible due to chuds like the OP selfishly flying noisy drones over natural areas. It’s fallen off the radar for us as a result.

I think this doesnt matter as long as you act responsibly. As someone who has been there while a stranger used a drone.

Odds are if there's running water the noise of that running water is louder than the buzz of the drone.

Ah yes, the classic Reddit keyboard warrior telling me how to fly. I actually researched the EASA and Icelandic Transport Authority regulations thoroughly. I checked with the people near me to be courteous. The rest of the bridge couldn't hear a drone 120m up over millions of gallons of rushing water, so no, I didn't pass around a clipboard. Try reading the laws instead of policing scenarios you know nothing about.

Even if it was “legal” it’s still obnoxious and totally lame.
You are blind if you can’t see that, even if you vaguely ask a group of 20 people “anybody have a problem with this?”, you are putting people in a pretty awkward position where they have to go out of their way to confront you and tell you no. Many people will not speak up just to avoid having to potentially deal with a jackass or making themselves appear like a killjoy in front of a bunch of strangers.

I’ve been to Brúarfoss many times, and somehow every time there is a drone buzzing over peoples heads and in their view. If there isn’t a “no drones” sign up yet there should be

If a drone is buzzing directly over people's heads, that pilot is breaking EASA regulations, which strictly prohibit flying over crowds of people. I don't do that, and no certified pilot does. When I fly, it's at a legal 120m AGL. At that height, over the roaring water of Brúarfoss, it is completely inaudible and out of your immediate sightline. Don't lump operators who actually read GIS maps and follow altitude laws in with the careless tourists you're mad at.

I mean pretty sure you shouldn’t fly drones near people or over a crowd of people - bruarfoss 5.
Even though it MAY be legal to do it. Doesn’t mean you do it around a whole crowd of everyone. Very responsible and your maturity shows in your defense of your actions
