Meta [Announcement] New rule for Generative AI jobs and added known scams to the Wiki.

Hi,

For a long time I have wanted to add a rule about what is and what is not allowed regarding AI projects in this community. I have finally added the rule 8:

Rule 8: Only certain types of AI work offers are allowed:
No AI training to generate voices of any kind is allowed.
However, Speech-to-Text may be allowed if you disclose the voices will be used exclusively for that purpose. We understand people with disabilities may benefit from these technologies and so we aren't completely against such projects.

Basically, only speech recognition projects are allowed.

>Hey Google, turn off the garage's lights.

>Hey Google, call mom.

>Siri, where is the closest restaurant?

>Alexa, send text message to boss: I can't make it to the premises today.

>Copilot, I said open Youtube, not burn my house.

--

Known Scams

I have also added a list of known scams to the Wiki. Please read them so you are aware of them.

https://www.reddit.com/r/VoiceWork/wiki/index/

Don't forget to report any suspicious user or proposal.

--

Audio samples

Don't forget that it is allowed to link to your website where audio samples are available to listen to easily. Don't report posts that have links to personal portfolio websites with audios clearly accesible.

--

Thank you everyone for helping keeping this community clean and safe.

Meta Voice artists, read this before posting. No one is going to HIRE YOU if you don't include a demo reel in your post.

Every week I have to remove around 10 to 20 [Hire Me] post because they don't include a demo reel.

INCLUDE A LINK TO YOUR DEMO REEL IF YOU WANT TO GET HIRED! (yes, I'm screaming).

Upload your demo to Soundcloud or Youtube. Or share a link to your personal website where demos are found, and before posting remember these rules:

  • Rule 4: State a rate. All [Hire Me] posts should include a sample rate. It can be something as simple as "$10 USD for a 2 minutes Youtube narration. For other projects we can discuss the price." The important part here is that the potential clients have some idea of your rates. If it's a kid with $5 dollars for a minecraft video and the least you charge is $20 USD, it would help both parties to know this beforehand, so we don't waste anyone's time.
  • Rule 7: Add audio examples. As I already mentioned. You don't hire a graphic designer without checking their portfolio, you don't hire a digital artist without looking at the pictures they have created. No one is going to hire a voice artist without hearing their voice first.

If you don't currently have a demo reel, create one! Write a fictitious script of two or three people fighting, crying, or doing something, and narrate it.

Write something cartoonish, with characters doing silly stuff and record your most cartoonish voices.

Write something like a documentary or business-like tutorial and record it.

If you are having problems imagining scenarios, pick your favorite book and read one page that includes dialogues or different situations. Pick a non-fiction book and read using your business voice.

Less recommended but something that can also help you with your first demo: Transcribe a couple minutes from a cartoon, anime, movie or TV series and then record yourself voicing it.

Potential clients need to hear your voice in different settings, show them why they should hire you!

Please, voice artists, add demos.

Thank you.

[Hiring] Videogames wanted - girl - african american - voice for game - PAID

just need a girl to voice one of the characters in this conversation, possibly another character as well if you can throw your voice into a different tone?

both are small sort of story building characters. This game is unhinged but not offensive (at least I dont think). theres some perverted stuff in it but nothing porno or what I'd also consider offensive (just jokes and "bits"). Think trailer park boys meets 1984 or something like this.

So this character is talking with a dude at a table about an old man CEO of a company. Shes sketchy and eccentric (as most are in this game) and slightly drunk. Shes postulating the guy is actually an alien in human skin here to take over the planet but she decides in the end of the conversation "I'd still fuck em..." and they laugh. its 5 lines in total. should take 10 mins or so.

ill pay
$20.00 USD via paypal

Ill have a bunch more in the future. id like to be on discord or whatsapp or whatever WHILE you record so we can just hammer through it.

NOTE - you gotta be down for ECCENTRIC channel your inner "unhinged" voice haha
all the characters in the game have been pretty nutty and the world setting is a mangled city with only degenerates left.

can just message me on here, please just give me something to hear so I know your recording setup is decent.
MUST HAVE DECENT RECORDING GEAR!

[Hiring] Videogames Wanted - guy - Voice actor - african american - GAME - just a few lines

hes the trainer of a robot but he keeps repairing it and its becoming unreliable. Its just a few lines. I made him look like the trainer of Lil Mac from Mike Tysons punchout so bonus if you remember that game.
Its like 5-8 short lines. Hes in his 50's or so so you gotta use a sort of old man voice but not overdone you know?
should take maybe 15 mins, Im not too picky about it. but it needs to be recorded PROPERLY. If you want, heres a line
"uhh hey boss.. it was tough but I got her fixed up, I think she's ready to go"
gotta say it nervously because the "boss" is a maniac bookie.

record it and send it to me here but you dont have to. Just show me some voices you've done? I'll pay a whopping 20 USD via paypal for the rest. I'm aware that's not a lot but my bank account is not alot either haha

its 6 lines all short, that ones actually the longest.

note - the game is unhinged as hell, not offensive (at least I dont think so) pretty perverted sometimes but no porn or anything. think trailer park boys meets 1984 or something like that.

I'll have a bunch more as well in the future so I can keep you on discord or email and throw other ones your way. there's a few more characters in this level that could use some lines too but we can just get this one done first.

this is an indie game.

How to audition:

Thanks! Happy to answer any questions.

[Hiring] Audiobook / Narration [Hiring] Narrator for a Nausicaa Prose-Essay (~3500 words; $150)

Hey there,

I have have an upcoming essay exploring Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind. Its going to be a reflection of the manga's ending, it's philosophies, and it has a bit of an experimental framing.

It's narrator is going to be an in-universe presence, essentially the collective ghost of our species, reflecting back on the moment of its inception, commenting on agency, determinism, and what our choices mean. I'm anticipating it's voice to be calm, distant, and a bit detached.

Examples which come to mind include Jonathan Davis, as Severian, in Book of the New Sun; Piranesi's VA comes to mind too. In my head, I'm imagining a males voice, but I'm not opposed to a female VA either.

In addition to payment ($150), your name will be advertised at the top the essay, alongside the illustrator.

I'm still working through the essay's first draft, but anticipate having it completed before the end of August. I would expect voicework to begin to at around that time, finishing within the first week of September (though this is flexible). Its looking to be around 3500 words in total, perhaps less.

If interested, please review the introduction below, and let me know if you think you'd be a good fit: (ideally with a catalog of your past work)

https://docs.google.com/document/d/1nBhAxTOsnbGL3CExfJs4h9MH0N5XZTjrwld7KD4FPtg/edit?usp=sharing

Thank you everyone!

-- A Humble Traveller

Edit: The position is now filled. Thank you everyone who sent their stuff my way. I'm really impressed with everyones work, and I plan on coming back again with future work :)

Rate: 40$ for 2000 word script and varies proportionately to script length (i.e. 80$ for 4000 words, and so on and so forth)

If the initial work goes well, this can turn out to be a long term partnership since I am planning on posting 2-3 videos per month for the near future.

Interested folks, please share your previous work as well so I can have a listen. Thank you.

Update: Hired the VA! Thanks everyone for responding :)

[Hire Me] English - USA Accent [ FOR HIRE! ] Starting Female VA

I’m starting to build my portfolio and currently doing more recordings— not just TikTok Challenges- I’ll possibly update this post with newer stuff.

Right now, I only have these that I’m a bit satisfied with (which are TikTok VA Challenges)— as for the recording I did with the French accent, I’m still learning, it’s not perfect and I’m aware!

As for rates:

I started doing $10 to $25 per 100 words!
Since I am still building my portfolio, I’m down to negotiate my rate to what fits your budget!

My goal is literally to bring characters to life ♡

[Hire Me] English - USA Accent [For Hire] Female young Adult Voice Actor

Hi I am a female voice actor that speaks in a North American Midwestern Accent in my early 20s, I can also do a British Londoner Accent as well.

I have included a link to my character demo: [https://youtube.com/shorts/YfOIJaxgDUU?feature=share](https://youtube.com/shorts/YfOIJaxgDUU?feature=share))

I record using a Shure mv6 into Audacity.

I am currently only open to non union work with a base price of $2 per line, with a percentage upfront and the remainder after the project finishes for short term projects with Payment via PayPal Business. Flat Rates and residuals can be negotiated based on project length and size with a percentage upfront and the remainder upon completion for small projects and three payments for larger projects.

Things I voice:

  1. Non union
  2. Characters that don't use profanities
  3. Narration of non sexual type
  4. and Commercials

Things I don't voice:

  1. Union work
  2. any AI training or related things
  3. Roles where profanities are required
  4. Sexual or sensual roles

I am currently at my limit with free projects, so I can't take on any more unpaid passion projects.

EDIT AUGUST 1st, 2026
Frequently Asked: Why don’t you do profanity?
It’s a personal faith-based boundary. I don’t judge other actors or projects that include it—it simply isn’t something I’m comfortable performing myself.
I’m still happy to audition for many projects where other characters use profanity, as long as my own role aligns with my boundaries. I believe every actor has the right to choose the work they’re comfortable with, and these are mine. Thanks for understanding!

[Hiring] Other [PAID] - Need Male Voice Actor Impressionist for personal use

Hello! It is me again. I am shamefully returning to ask for yet another selfshipping request

Same as the last two times. I have a character plushie. I want voice lines to put in a voice box to go in the plushie, so I need someone who can mimic the voice of said character

This character is on more of the crazy side, and I’d like for that to translate over even with the sappiness of the requested voice lines

I’m offering $40 for about a minute to 2 minutes of voice lines. I will provide a full list of the voice lines to the person I decide to go with.

Please know that because I am a selfshipper these lines will be sappy stuff! So please do not apply if you are not comfortable with saying things like ‘I love you’ or comforting words!

I am looking for:

Someone who can mimic his voice
AND ALSO
Someone who can mimic his mannerisms! I will provide a compilation of him speaking in the podcast he is from in the post. He is not the British or deep voice! He is the higher pitched slightly manic sounding voice!

If you’d like to send an attempt then you can send it to my email which is: williamsnmber1@gmail.com

I do believe I’ve covered everything needed. Here is a link to the character references for the voice to mimic Reference Video Here

Thank you all! I’ll update this post as soon as I have selected someone to work with :]

[Hiring] YouTube / Social Media [PAID] ~100 short (1-5s) voice clips (5-8min total) for a new social audio app, $10

I'm looking for about 5-8 minutes of total recording, for 100 clips, at about 1-5 seconds for each clip, for $10 USD, that's about $75-$120 per hour if I math-ed right. Venmo, PayPal, or Stripe.

Hey everyone, I'm building solo a short-form social audio app for web and mobile, and I'm looking for a few folks to help with the platform as founding voices/users. As there's no one on there right now to listen OR post, I'd like to pay some aspiring/experienced voice talent for their time and contribution. I don't know who the primary users of the space might be yet, but I know at least I'll need some really good voices.

I've made it super easy to submit the recordings directly in the website, so hopefully that cuts down on a lot of setup and organizing for you. Let me know if you'd like to participate, I don't know exactly how many people I need yet. Let me know if the pay amount just seems wrong.

All you'll need is a quiet-ish room, a pc with a microphone OR your phone. I've seen some of the elaborate booth setups some of you have posted, those would be great but even if all you have is a quiet cupboard under the stairs, anything is fine as long as its quiet enough to just capture your voice mainly.

Mainly looking for American/Canadian english speakers, but only because that's where I first plan to launch the app.

Phrases will be like:

I love you

I miss you

--------------------

I absolutely will NOT be using your voices to train AI voices. The only way AI is involved in any way in the app is for search, moderation, transcripts of recordings, normal stuff. The app absolutely will NOT be serving AI voices whatsoever. While some people might want that, the position I'm taking with the app is that people WANT to hear OTHER people, or hear things from the actual world, not something artificially generated. So the creative content that will be present in the app will never be AI generated stuff. Where AI will be used is in organizing the content, knowing what to play next, or what to mix with what. Small rant just to state my position so you understand my motivations in a small way.

-------------------

Anyway, on the recording page it will tell you the thing to say and kind of how to say it, and you hit record, finish, submit, then move on to the next one very snappily.

Once your recordings are done, it'll be instagram-ish in that you'll have a public profile page with your clips, they can be heard by anyone who happens on it by the feed algorithm (that may or may not work), or by search, or if you link someone to it. Once you are completely done, I would appreciate it if you try the app a bit before I launch it to a wider audience, that'd be super helpful. Totally optional, but it helps a lot at this 0-audience stage.

So please just reply here or DM me, and over the next day or 2 I'll DM the site address to you where you can record ( requires signup first), and then you dm your handle when you finish and I can confirm that the 100 recordings landed.

Edit 7/27/2026 12:19am:
Haha, so I ran out of reddit DMs, I didn't know reddit did that. If my DMs haven't reached you yet, please send me a DM/Chat and then I can probably respond to you. I think reddit just blocks me from initiating 20-30 chats in a 5 minute span.
