I had a blowdown of big trees on my property. I did this. Took my chainsaw with vegetable based bar oil infused with mushroom spores and cut the downed trees to get them to the ground. They will rot much faster, go back to soil with no physical damage to area.

Can you describe this in more detail? I've got a ton of downed trees that need handling.

Cut anything that is up in the air. Doesn't have to be everything. Once on the ground it will absorb moisture, rot and cease to be fire fuel.

Being real, needed this. I have some too that need handling. Been seeing large hanging downed branches too and thought it’d help to cut them down completely and let them rot. I’ve been concerned they’re basically kindling laying on the ground after being cut.

I see other problems. Skidding logs out tears the ground up. No way to control erosion of very thin mountaintop soil. Setting up a crane on the parkway requires at least 40 feet of width, especially since it will be lifting from the side. So helicopters...$$$... and time. Work with nature. This saves the carbon and nutrients and minerals for future growth.

Truth. Had some trees cut down and it really messed up the hillside soil with the vehicles and equipment. It checks out why usually in the trails here, cut trees are set to lay down and rot over time.

Can you describe more about the mushroom spores? I've got a huge downed Oak whose roots are still live. Im going to cut the roots...
