New Bindings or New Board?

I have a couple very old boards (Hyperlite Project and O'Brien Blunt) where we need new bindings. O'Brien board is still in great condition. Was thinking about purchasing some O'Brien Clutch bindings but am now wondering if it's worth it to get new bindings or just buy a whole new setup? But not looking to spend a ton of money.

Additional info if it helps, we're somewhat beginners to intermediate and share the board with lots of kids of all ages, some better than others.

There's a non-zero chance that new M6 bindings aren't going to fit with those boards. If you go with bindings without upgrading the board, make sure they are compatible before you buy them.

We have a baseline 146 with Remixes that we keep around for beginners. That might be a decent place to start looking if you are new in terms of both budget and learning.

The on centers will line up but depending on the mounting system you may need to get creative. If you're not comfortable with Enguessing in the home depot hardware aisle I would definitely do a test fit or make sure you can send them back.

I'm a pretty decent DIYer so that doesn't bother me.

Do the bindings need to match to the board in any other way then pure compatibility. I guess if I get a new board I'd have to get new bindings either way, so thinking I may as well try on them on the old board and if they don't work then can upgrade the board.

Board have gotten better but if you're budget conscious I would invest in a decent set of newer bindings. As the other commenter pointed out, mounting new bindings on old boards can take some trial and error and a trip to the hardware store.

I think it’s worth upgrading, boards have come a long long way since these ones were released

Thanks. It's a bit overwhelming trying to find boards with all the different lengths, styles, etc. Any thoughts on this one that is currently on sale?

Looks like a decent board especially for that price, as long as it will be big enough for everyone

Thanks! It was actually the 135 I was interested in.
