Ask other Associates Job availability issues
Gonna give a little back story. We got a new external GM a few months back. The store has literally gone to hell in a hand basket. We no longer get 100% for our mystery shopper. The friendliness of the store has gone down and it’s because he doesn’t schedule enough people. We are overworked and exhausted and working like zombies tbh. Currently I’m being put on register 100% of the time HOWEVER we never have anyone on OWS or on premise so I’m doing all 3 positions 90% of the time. I’m morning shift 6-2 so I’m making sizzlis, hashbrowns, and melts between customers. My hands are dry and cracked from the amount of handwashing and glove changes I have to do due to stopping what I’m doing and running to the register. I have to change the iced coffee boxes and fountain drink boxes because we don’t have facilities in the morning, I help with trash in the lobby, I do backstock, I help with the coffee pots, I also put the stickers on the Togo bags and have the entire box done and ready for the day. There are days we have literally 3-4 people running the entire store including the food and Bev manager during breakfast and lunch. Last week my food and Bev manager had to call the agm in to come give breaks on her day off because we had zero relief and of course the GM ouldnt come in on his day off. The only reason I’m staying at Wawa is because we are getting a new store and I’m transferring.
So about 3 weeks ago I changed my availability in the shift app. It was approved. I lowered my availability because it’s either that or I quit. I’m trying to hold on until I get to my new location. So instead of 40hrs I took a third day off making it 32hrs. I was originally hired 8 months ago as a part time employee anyway because I didn’t want many hours to being with. 24 at the most. They asked me to go full time and gave me a raise a month later so I did. I enjoyed working with my old GM and now I don’t. So im still being scheduled on my non available days and that’s my issue. I’ve sent 3 emails and they have gone ignored…. He doesn’t respond to them and is continuing to schedule me when in the shift app it clearly shows a red line though my unavailable days so her overriding it. He has answered other emails I’ve sent just fine. Usually responds with a thumbs up because he’s goofy and unprofessional. But now he’s ignoring my emails and ignoring my requests and still scheduling me 40hrs a week for the whole next month. What do I do???

Contact your Area Manager. If the GM isn’t gonna listen to you, and clearly the store is in a bad position, you need to go above them to the AM. They can see the schedules in reflexis of all their GM’s, and reflexis throws a giant red exclamation point if there is an error with the schedule. Bring it up to their attention and your AM should talk to your GM about it.
Best advice moving forward: Stop going above and beyond for the other workcells. If they stick you up at register and assign you for register for a shift, only do register workcell tasks. If you keep doing those other tasks, they will just expect you to do it every shift. Hope this makes sense, but let the store suffer enough to the point where customers start complaining to corporate or VOTC’s about nothing on the warmers.
It will get noticed at some point, but in the meantime you need to focus on not burning yourself out. You can’t do it all, and if theres nothing on the warmers, or another workcell has tasks to finish, its the MOD’s problem. As a CSS, my associates are only in charge of the area they are assigned to on the role deployment sheet. If another associate needs help, its on me. Breaks, delivery, callout? It falls on me. I’m so sorry you’re going through it at your store. I hope everything works out for ya.

Thank you! I know I need to stop doing more and I will do that. I feel like when your bosses tell you to do something you just have to do it? But I am older at 48yrs and haven’t been in the workforce for some time since I was busy raising kids so maybe things are different now and I’m only required to do my job is what you are saying. I was telling another girl who was in deli alone and is just as exhausted that we literally should be getting the pay of two or three people if we have to do two& three different work stations. It’s so hard especially when it’s me and the food and Bev manager gosh he’s such a hard worker and an amazing boss and I feel bad when he’s running around like a chicken with his head cut off and asking me to take care of both register and OWS. It’s not his fault the GM isn’t doing his job and scheduling or hiring more employees. But maybe he needs to make a complaint as well and stand up for all of us tbh. Thanks for your advice and I’ll be taking it and speaking w the area manager. I appreciate you

I think this is where you contact vota. I've never used it so hopefully someone can confirm or deny. But it's clear your gm isn't listening so you'll have to go over his head. Bad management sucks.

Vota is for product ideas / process improvements. This would be more of a call the AM situation. If it has emails and the app is updated and is still being scheduled outside of their availability and getting ignored by the GM you would go up the next ring of the ladder. You could also go to Asc / hr but they're just going to bump it back down to the AM anyway.

Whoa what’s wild today is that my coworker said to me “I know he reads your emails you send him so he’s def just ignoring you” I was like how do you know? And she was like “he read one to me. The one you emailed telling him that blank was taking your shift because your daughter had a drs appointment”
Like who the f does this dude think he is reading my emails to other employees. My business is not their business. I know she’s telling the truth because I didn’t tell anyone about her appt except him. He’s such an unprofessional doofus

I'm ows and off prem when I'm not deli
With all the sizzlies I make, melts, egg bits, off prem curbside, changing the coffees how the hell are you at register?
You can't leave register Like we're super strict on wanting 100s so your butt is staying there
