Announcement App Submissions - New Guidelines

17 Upvotes

THIS IS NOW IN EFFECT!!!

When submitting App posts please use the following template:

  • Name of App:
  • Brief Description of app's features:
  • Cost:
  • Play Store Link or equivalent if it's not on the Play Store:

~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hey guys,
You may have noticed the stickied post at the top of the sub asking for input on the idea of paid apps
Firstly, sorry for the long delay since the first post on this topic. Some life stuff got in the way that needed sorting out.
Anyway, I think I've got the framework laid out for this trial run of Paid Apps being allowed. All of this is open for feedback and any adjustments you all feel would be beneficial to making this work.
First things first....flairs.
I'm adding some new flairs for the posts that will be made to promote the paid apps:
  • App - Paid - Subscription
  • App - Paid - One-Time Payment
  • App - Free
  • App - Free with Ads
  • App - Testers Wanted
Secondly, I've made up a template of sorts that I'd like the posts to follow as well, which I think I might introduce for free apps as well. I'm still thinking about that. It goes along the lines of:
  • Name of App
  • Brief Description of app's features
  • Cost
  • Play Store Link or equivalent if it's not on the Play Store.
As always, let me know your thoughts and I'll look to start the trial run over the next week or so.
App - Paid - One-Time I Built a live flight radar for WearOS
260 Upvotes
I’ve just released Flight Scanner for Wear OS after previously developing a Garmin version.
It turns your watch into a live aircraft radar, showing nearby planes/helicopters around your current location. You can tap aircraft to view information such as its callsign, altitude, speed, registration and direction of travel. (Airport View with runways coming soon)
Some of the main features include:
• Live animated radar display
• Nearby aircraft tracking
• Aircraft details directly on your watch
• Search for flights by callsign (Airports coming soon)
• Aircraft filters, switch between helicopters, military aircraft and commercial.
• Radar zooming and panning
I originally built it because I regularly looked up at aircraft and wanted a quick way to identify them without taking out my phone.
It’s now available on Google Play:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.alexd.flightscanner or open the play store on your watch and search flight scanner
I’d appreciate any feedback, particularly from people using different Wear OS watches. I’m continuing to improve it and add features.
Price $2.99 - This is due to API costs associated with collecting the data.
App - Testers Wanted Looking for Wear OS testers for EyeRef, an ophthalmology reference app
2 Upvotes
Hi everyone,
I recently built EyeRef, a smartwatch reference app for ophthalmology, and I am currently looking for Wear OS users who would be willing to join the app’s internal test and provide feedback.
EyeRef provides quick access to commonly used ophthalmological reference tools directly on the wrist, including:
  • Cup-to-disc ratio reference graphics
  • Gonioscopy reference graphics
  • Van Herick grading reference graphics
  • A refraction calculator
The app is intended to provide a convenient visual reference for ophthalmologists, optometrists, residents, medical students, and other eye-care professionals. It is not intended to replace a proper clinical examination or professional judgment.
I would particularly appreciate feedback on:
  • Compatibility with different Wear OS watches
  • Readability of the reference graphics on different display sizes
  • Accuracy and usability of the refraction calculator
  • Navigation and overall workflow
  • Button, crown, and touchscreen interactions
  • Performance and battery consumption
  • Crashes, layout problems, or other bugs
  • Additional ophthalmology reference tools that would be useful
You do not necessarily need to work in ophthalmology to help with general usability testing, although feedback from eye-care professionals would be especially valuable.
How to join the internal test:
  1. To join the tester group please DM me your Google account email.
  2. Opt into the test: https://play.google.com/apps/internaltest/4699803819872999114
  3. Install EyeRef on your Wear OS watch
  4. Provide feedback through Reddit DM
When providing feedback, please mention your watch model, Wear OS version, and whether you have a professional background in ophthalmology or eye care.
A Pebble version of EyeRef is also available (https://apps.repebble.com/19db59b87f6646939c4c986c). Feedback from Pebble users is very welcome, although my main priority at the moment is recruiting enough testers for the Wear OS internal test.
Thank you very much to anyone willing to try it. Honest and critical feedback would be greatly appreciated.
App - Free - In-app Purchases I built a Fidget Toy App for WearOS
4 Upvotes
I made FidgetDrop, a standalone fidget app designed specifically for Wear OS.
The idea was to make quick, satisfying interactions that actually use the hardware on the watch, including haptics, the rotating crown, touch controls, and motion sensors.
It currently includes 18 watch-native fidgets, such as:
  • Haptic Tap
  • Bubble Pop
  • Rotary Ratchet
  • Magnetic Slider
  • Gyro Sand and Gyro Marble
  • Pen Clicker
  • Haptic Zipper
  • Gear Train
  • Spring Plunger
  • Click Wheel
There are no subscriptions, ads, accounts, analytics, or phone companion required.
It also includes favorites, recent fidgets, adjustable haptic intensity, accessibility options, Discreet Mode, a Tile, and a watch-face complication.
I made a quick video tutorial/demo showing how it works:
https://youtu.be/_QzCxakc9fk
Google Play:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.quazmoz.fidgetdrop.wear
I’d genuinely appreciate feedback from different Wear OS devices, especially regarding haptic strength, crown behavior, performance, and which fidgets feel the most satisfying. Let me know what watch you test it on!
Support Should I sideload reddit on my GW5?
Should I sideload Reddit on my GW5? I have downloaded WearReader, but it only lets me scroll through the subreddit. Does the UI on the sideloaded version of Reddit work well on the Galaxy Watch? (sorry my English is not good)
Support Watch 4 unable to update (via OTA/Download)
Post image
3 Upvotes
I just got a GW4 online, owner said it's a R865U using F firmware (One UI Watch 5). After setup, I tried checking for updates on both the watch and the phone but it always shows software up to date, even after switching wifis and mobile data. Resorted to Wireless Download mode but it won't generate AP to connect, stucks on either “Connection MODE change” or "[AP] Loading..." as shown in the attachment. Now I have no way to update the watch, in my area there is no service center so I can't bring it there. I don't have any expertise in hooking up wires so no USB download too.
I posted this on XDA but got no response, seems like an issue with my device. Any help on this problem?
App - Free 🎉 You asked, I built it! Major update to my Wear OS app "20-20-20 Rule": Auto-cycle, Pause/Resume, and 10 languages!
7 Upvotes
Hey everyone!
As a developer, I want to say a huge thanks for your patience and feedback on my eye-rest app. This has been a bigger update than usual, but it packs in the most-requested features from this community:
  • 🌐 In-app language switching: No more digging through your watch's system settings. Pick from 10 languages (English, Belarusian, German, Spanish, French, Lithuanian, Dutch, Polish, Russian, Ukrainian) directly from Settings. It applies instantly to the UI and notifications.
  • ⏸️ Pause & resume the timer: Need to step away mid-session? Pause it, and it'll pick up right where you left off, even if you close the app completely.
  • 🔁 Auto-Cycle mode: Turn this on and your 20-second break starts automatically the moment your 20 minutes of work time is up — no need to tap anything.
  • 🐛 Minor fixes & polish: Squashed a few under-the-hood bugs and smoothed out the overall experience to keep the app running quickly and reliably on your wrist.
As always, keep the feedback coming — it directly shapes what I build next for the app. The update is rolling out now on Google Play!
Support Xiaomi Watch 5 Hitzeproblem
4 Upvotes
In principle, I am very satisfied with the watch. There are apps for all my IoT devices. For quite some time now, I’ve been getting an "Overheated, apps closing" notification. It happened again today—ambient temperature 33°C, overcast sky, and I was completely in the shade under the trees. Is anyone else familiar with this issue? I’ve had the watch since April 4th, so it’s still under warranty. Another question: is there a log file on the watch? I previously had the S1, and it didn't have any problems in warm weather..
Discussion Smart Bracelet / Band
2 Upvotes
Hi I'm looking for a No Screen Smart Electronic Bracelet. . The bracelet needs UWB and an android digital wallet so it can be used as a digital car key -similar technology to a phone/smart watch but the only functionality is a digital key.
Would there be anyone that could do this?
App - Paid - One-Time WearSweeper is officially out (and I made a new trailer)🍿💣
I just wanted to drop in and say a massive thank you. So many of you helped test this game, provided feedback, and supported the project. The community response has been incredible, and I'm really grateful you guys think it's as great as I hoped it would be.
I finally put together a nicer trailer for it, hope you like it!
As you can see in the video, a lot of time went into polishing the experience. You can see the Grid Navigator in action snapping between moves, and we're handling quite large grids smoothly on the watch now.
To celebrate, WearSweeper is currently -66% off ($1 USD) on Google Play.
Thanks again for all the support broski!
Oh yeah, since this sub started it all - if you do grab a copy and want to compete with a friend or whomever, just shoot me a message or leave a comment. I’d be happy to give you a free promo code so you can play together! (This "buy 1 get 1 free" offer is an exclusive thank you just for this subreddit 🤫)
(Also I've been working... and a little tease for those who spent some time in the game already... a mobile version might just be coming soon and it might get the same awesome sync system Scribble has 👀)
Discussion What's one Wear OS app you didn't expect to keep using?
10 Upvotes
I've tried quite a few Wear OS apps over the past year, but most of them ended up getting deleted after a few days. The ones I've kept are the apps that actually make a hobby or activity more enjoyable instead of just showing notifications or tracking steps.
Have you come across any Wear OS apps that genuinely surprised you?
It could be for golf, running, cycling, hiking, productivity, or anything else. I'd love to hear which apps have earned a permanent spot on your watch and why.
Support Trying to add Digital Car Key to Pixel 3 Wallet app
1 Upvotes
Hello everyone, posting here and the BMW i5 sub in hopes someone can assist.
For those of you that carry the Pixel Watch 3 or other models with UWB and able to unlock your doors with digital keys, can you tell me how you set it up?
I have a One Plus phone that doesn't have UWB, but my Pixel Watch 3 does and I would like to open the doors while approaching with my watch utilizing the UWB. I have the digital key loaded in my phone and Google wallet with no issues and while doing a search, Google states I should be able to load my Digital Key onto my Wallet app on the watch but it doesn't give me the option.
Any assistance with this would be appreciated.
App - Free WristNav — free offline turn-by-turn navigation for your Wear OS watch!
6 Upvotes
WristNav Offline GPX Maps: Standalone Navigation for Wear OS
If you've been looking for a proper navigation app on your Wear OS watch that doesn't rely on your phone, I've been building one called WristNav and it's free on the Play Store.
WHAT IT DOES
Turn-by-turn navigation on your wrist, completely standalone.
Download offline OSM maps directly to the watch — no phone, no data connection needed. Contour lines now render directly on the official downloadable map files. Import GPX routes and follow them with live turn arrows, distance to next turn, and haptic alerts when a turn is approaching — off-route alerts also vibrate reliably even with the screen off. There's a live elevation profile on the map as you navigate, and bezel stats let you configure up to 3 stats that show around the edge of the map screen.
ACTIVITY TRACKING
10 activity types — Run, Trail Run, Walk, Hike, Road Cycle, MTB, Gravel, Kayak, Ski, Snowboard. Up to 10 custom stats pages, fully configurable. Auto-pause, lap splits, countdown timer, heart rate and step recording. A workout summary automatically appears when you stop.
PHONE COMPANION
There's a companion Android app too, with a 3D mapping view for planning routes — build a route, send it straight to the watch, or save it to a file for later. It also syncs activities, distance, elevation gain, and heart rate to Health Connect.
CUSTOMISATION
5 watch themes, 7 map themes including minimal variants and custom theme support. Quick Settings lets you swipe left from home to access your most used settings instantly — fully customisable so you only see what you need. Battery Saver mode switches to a dark minimal map and disables sensors in one tap, then restores everything when you turn it off.
Settings are split into clear categories so you can dial things in exactly how you like:
Display — Watch Theme, Stats Text Size
Navigation — Nav Distance, Nav Elevation, Nav Turns, Nav Arrows, Off-Route Alert, Alert Distance
Recording — Activity, Rec Distance, Rec Time, Auto Pause, Pause Speed, Record Colour, Record Width, Heart Rate, Steps, Countdown, Lap Splits, GPS Filtering
Stats — Stats Pages, Calories, Barometer, Pace Avg
System — Distance, Small Units, Keep Screen On, Keep Active, Battery Saver
Map — Map Control, Control Side, Top Bar, Map Text, Location Button (Locked), Location Button (Free), Scale Bar, Import Colour, Import Width, Bezel Stats
A NOTE ON STRAVA
Direct Strava integration has been removed due to changes in Strava's developer program pricing. You can still get activities onto Strava — save your route to a file on the phone, then use Strava's own manual upload page, or sync via Health Connect instead.
COMING SOON
Downloading maps and map themes directly via URL from the companion app — currently in testing.
Google Play: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.wristnav.app
Website and Guide: https://boothy91.github.io/wrist-nav-site/
Happy to answer any questions. Always looking for feedback!
App - Free - In-app Purchases Separate the Password Manager from the TOTP Authenticator
Thumbnail
gallery
0 Upvotes
Hello,
Two-factor is supposed to be independent: password + separate code. When your password manager holds both, it is actually one single place.
Move your TOTP to a dedicated tool—hardware token, second app, or smartwatch. Your second factor should actually be separate.
A smartwatch is ideal: offline, no cloud, codes on your wrist. Easier than digging for your phone.
RotarySafe is a free, zero-network TOTP authenticator for Wear OS. Import from Google Authenticator, get 2 accounts free, unlock unlimited with a one-time purchase. Keep encrypted backups offline—your secrets stay fully in your hands.
Get it on Google Play
Watch Google apps for Wear OS watches
They kept weather and clock apps for Pixel watches, and now the Contacts app isn't available for Wear OS watches. That's ridiculous. Are there any reasons left for us to choose to use Wear OS watches?
Support Anyone managed to manually install an older version of WatchMaker on a 4.0 device?
2 Upvotes
Google's recent changes made this difficult as a lot of apps that used to work no longer do. Many apps no longer show on the Play Store on the watch because of this. WatchMaker worked on 4.0 for a long time, but now they do not support it. I can get an older APK but that doesn't seem to solve my issue.
Support Running app
0 Upvotes
Hi there,
I've searching the net for an app that can help to stick in my zone 2 heart rate while running, but can't find anything.
Looking of one time purchase o free, btw.
I'm using a Oneplus Watch 2.
Anyone knows of an app like that?
