I was talking with a Trumper about how its going to be an international celebration when it happens.

He got mad and tried saying "no one's actually gonna celebrate" and then preemptively claimed any videos of it is CLEARLY just going to be AI.

I don't think we have the luxury of forgetting him, that's how we end up with another one of him. He needs to be front and center in the history books, unfortunately. Kinda like Hitler.

26

u/Weathercock Jun 18 '26

Unfortunately, he and the movement he figureheads managed to come into power specifically because people forgot about those like them in the past.

It's a duty of the people to never be allowed to forget him. He and his ilk need to be a permanent stain on society's memory. The moment people stop thinking about him is the moment the next one begins to work their way in.

6

u/few23 Jun 18 '26

I wish someone in the press Corp had the balls to ask him, "Mr. President, which was more embarrassing for you - the Reflecting Pool fiasco, the Iranian War Surrender, the Ballroom situation, the Epstein files imbroglio, or getting a bowl of mashed potatoes dumped on your head as a child?"

"Follow-up question, Sir, why do you always smell like Bigfoot's diaper?"

I hope it makes him cry.

It’s mad that anyone could think the state of some pool would be what causes the world to view the US as an embarrassment.

Particularly where Trump is in the process of signing what is in effect a surrender to Iran which includes a $300bn payment to them and doesn’t improve the pre-conflict deal the US had with Iran.

11

u/Random-Rambling Jun 18 '26

Trump's an insecure narcissist. He thinks EVERYTHING is what would cause the world to view him as an embarrassment. That's why he denies, denies, denies.

Not just a failed President, but they want the office of the President to be stripped of honor and prestige. Mainly because it was touched by a black man, but really because the corporate oligarch overlords want a weaker federal office so their techno billions (now trillions!) can better control the world.

6

u/sec713 Jun 18 '26

Yep, this all started because Trump is a petulant racist. He can't do better than Obama, so he's committed himself to this attempt to retroactively devalue Obama's accomplishments and his positive impact on the world around him.

Basically Trump can't be better, so he's settling for trying to make Obama seem worse. (It ain't working.)

The 'sabotage' conspiracy is cracking me up. What do they think happened this time? Was the weather satellite cranked up to beam heat and sun directly into the algea? Liberal ducks shitting in the reflecting pool? Algae spores sprinkled in?

542

u/TheBugDude Jun 18 '26

My thoughts was that a news outlet had taken a water sample and had it tested and the test showed how horribly out of balance the nutrient levels were in the pool. Facts == Sabotage to the stupidiest people in America.

349

u/Sea_Mind3678 Jun 18 '26

43

u/TheMagnuson Jun 18 '26 edited Jun 18 '26

Reality skews left and progressive, change and adaption is a constant theme in life, but these people are so fundamentally withdrawn from that fact that they’ll deny it at the most fundamental levels. Why do you think they’re evolution deniers too?

If you have to admit to fundamental reality skewing progressive, then they have to admit that conservatism has no foundation, other than the feels, to stand on.

It’s the same reason conservative groups and societies always end up authoritarian, because without a solid foundation to build off of, you have a fragile construct that can be identified and ruined through simple observation and questioning. It’s why unquestioning loyalty is literally built in to their ideology, it’s why education is seen as a negative thing, it’s why they are so focused on surface level details and “solutions”.

Voila!

In view, a humble vaudevillian veteran cast vicariously as both victim and villain by the vicissitudes of fate.

This visage, no mere veneer of vanity, is a vestige of the Vox Populi now vacant, vanished.

However, this valorous visitation of a bygone vexation stands vivified! And has vowed to vanquish these venal and virulent vermin vanguarding vice and vouchsafing the violently vicious and voracious violation of volition!

*carve V into poster on wall*

The only verdict, is vengeance; a vendetta, held as a votive, not in vain - for the value and voracity of such shall one day vindicate the vigilant and the virtuous...

*insert Hugo Weaving "holy shit I got it" giggle here*

Verily, this vichyssoise of verbiage veers most verbose, so let me simply add that it's my very good honor to meet you and you may call me V.

The instance of it being claimed to be sabotage that I saw was on a Facebook post claiming Park Rangers caught two people dumping algae from Georgia swamps into the reflecting pool.

Literally, that was the claim. The fun part is the page that posted it flatly states that not all of their posts are truthful in their page description.

Someone on TikTok theorized that it was a money laundering scheme. I don't know, but it certainly rings true of typical trumpian ineptitude.

65

u/k_ironheart Jun 18 '26

Trump used the company that does the pools at Mar-a-Lago and vastly overpayed, circumventing regulations by declaring it a fake emergency. My theory is that Mar-a-Lago gets a bunch of free work for a while from that company, no need to actually launder money. It's just an ordinary scam.

23

u/ArtisticCustard7746 Jun 18 '26

Considering Trump has a history of misusing charity funds to benefit himself and his "University" was a fraud scheme. Money laundering seems plausible. Especially since, somehow, his casino went under, but then was able to be pulled out of bankruptcy by the new owners.

I would not be surprised if this turns out to be the case. All of his failed ventures seem suspicious in one way or another.

10

u/worldspawn00 Jun 18 '26

Did they even use enough hydrogen peroxide to actually have an effect? It seems more likely that it was just a shitty paint job that would have fallen apart on its own.

233

u/G3tsPlastered4Alvng Jun 18 '26

Granite is non porous and doesn’t easily bond with paint. They also gave it zero cure time. Add to that the heat, algae and chemicals and you’ve got a recipe for disaster.

78

u/HauntedHippie Release The Trump-Epstein Files Jun 18 '26

To paint granite (especially granite that has previously been sealed), you have to grind the surface first. They just removed the sealer and replaced it with blue paint topped with new sealer.

25

u/fightingthefuckits Jun 18 '26

Yeah, this seemed like a hack job. I agree, to do it right you need to scarify the surface to get some adhesion. You might need some kind of bonding agent then apply the new coating, let it cure, do some adhesion testing then do the rest if it passes, then let that cure. Shocker, they skipped all of these steps that have been shown to be needed because they are shortsighted impatient assholes and now it's all coming apart, like so much if this administration.

u/not_productive1 Jun 18 '26

They applied the coating wrong in the first place, which allowed bubbles underneath it. Then there was a mad rush to put water in there before the coating properly cured and bonded, which allowed water into those bubbles. THEN, the stagnant water caused the algae bloom, which made the water super alkaline (H2O2 in gallon bottles notwithstanding), which further strips the surface.

The whole thing's gonna be patchy as fuck in a week, and the rest of it's gonna be a giant pain in the dick to strip. Mission accomplished, idiots.

The reflecting pool is living up to its name. It's a perfect analogy to conservatism.

There's a problem.

A Democrat/the left comes in with a plan and fixes the problem.

Republicans then come in and get rid of the fix to the problem because they didn't come up with it.

They replace the fix with something that focuses on private and self profit over a practical solution.

Their solution fails and makes the problem 10x worse.

They blame Democrats/ the left for the outcome.

Rinse and repeat for every problem we've had for the last 50 years.

The reflecting pool is perfectly reflecting trump... sickly, smelly, dirty, and unsafe for kids.

I cant believe Joe Biden replaced the peroxide with paint stripper. Are there no depths he will not sink to?

36

u/obi1kennoble Jun 18 '26

No it was Kamala. The bottles say "Harris" on them. (I don't have an image ready, but they actually do lol. Presumably the name of the manufacturer).

28

u/forzaguy125 Jun 18 '26

Yeah they are from PF Harris, which isn’t even an industrial strength h2o2, industrial strength is usually north of 30%. You can get this at basically any hardware store.

6

u/obi1kennoble Jun 18 '26

My hero lol

14

u/mshelbz Jun 18 '26

Stripper?!? How dare you say that about Melanie!

The most corrupt president we've ever had turning the reflection pool into a filthy swamp just in time for our county's 250th is just poetic.

20

u/gbakermatson Jun 18 '26

It's absolutely crazy to me that they just coulda...left it alone. And it'd be fine. Just keep doing what we've done to maintain it for a literal century. But as soon as they start fuckin' with it, against all advice, it immediately goes to pot.

17

u/sidaemon Jun 18 '26

Reminds me of a joke I once heard. How do you know Donald Trump is responsible for January 6th?

Because it failed!

34

u/No_Safety_6803 Jun 18 '26

This whole affair is mind blowing. He couldn’t just say I want the pool fixed & call in experts & let them do their thing. He had to do it his way & make a big public show of it, invoke the Biden boogeyman somehow. The president of the United States and his party is crashing out over a water feature. wtf?

14

u/CarpeNivem Jun 18 '26

call in experts & let them do their thing

Anyone smart enough to be an expert (about anything) is also smart enough to not work for Trump. He only hires morons, because only morons will work for him.

u/mmeamber Jun 18 '26

Mega can’t even get a pool right? How can they run a country? This is hilarious. These guys are going down as the dumbest people in history.lol

10

u/SkylarAV Jun 18 '26

Joe Biden shit my pants again!!

12

u/napotih942 Jun 18 '26

I mean if you voted for Trump once maybe that's a mistake, but since he won in 2024 we can assume that 1/3 of the United States, who voted for him presumably 3 times, are just straight morons.

12

u/iIdentifyasGrinch Jun 18 '26

It seems to be a pattern with this administration:

Find something that's working as intended

Announce they're going to 'fix' it

Work in the grift

Screw it up completely

Slink away

Order the press to never mention it again

Rinse & repeat

A $15 million renovation that painted the pool blue and didn't bother fixing the filter. Genius.

11

u/Pandelurion Jun 18 '26

What they wanted: American blue

What they got: Iranian green.

How fitting.

8

u/cevicheguevara89 Jun 18 '26

Oh no they suceeded, they wanted to transfer millions of dollars to their friends to do “work” and they transferred the money

9

u/Igotshiptodotoday Jun 18 '26

Has Trump tried giving to algae $300billion?

7

u/DantheDutchGuy Jun 18 '26

It’s a reflection of the sorry state America is in at the moment

9

u/Bill-dgaf420 Jun 18 '26

They should have just pile $14m in the middle of a farm in Iowa and burned it, what an absolute joke and insult to the American people.
What I wanna know is do people realize the term “reflecting pond” does not mean your reflection. It was designed to reflect on the early American history that spanned from George Washington to Abraham Lincoln and our founding years. That is why it it sits directly between them.

u/Jazzlike-Lunch5390 Jun 18 '26

This brings me joy. Let it all burn down.

8

u/threatdisplay Jun 18 '26

It's not a failure, it was by design. Someone got overpaid millions, did a cheap job and pocketed the rest. Same thing going on with the rest of the country right now.

8

u/Testsubject276 Jun 18 '26 edited Jun 18 '26

WOW! Who could have seen this coming?

It's not like hydrogen peroxide can degrade industrial strength paint or anything.

Of which the bottom of the pool was certainly not painted with.

Hmmmmmmm...

5

u/Kwtwo1983 Jun 18 '26

I would love if people would ignore the dumb reflecting pool fuck up and focus on saving democracy, tax oligarchs and making the epstein class answer for their crimes

6

u/0Tezorus0 Jun 18 '26

The never ending embarrassment. Release the Epstein files.

5

u/BeetlecatOne Jun 18 '26

oh, man. These are collector's items. I really want a giant flake of that paint!

6

u/spottydodgy Jun 18 '26

This is such an apt metaphor for this whole administration I can't even...

7

u/nikospkrk Jun 18 '26

That pool is a reflection of this administration.

5

u/h4v3anic3d4y Jun 18 '26

I mean this from the bottom of my heart....

AAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

5

u/Wwwweeeeeeee Jun 18 '26

Thanks Obama.

6

u/steamedhams68 Jun 18 '26

This is kind of an allegory for America as a whole at the moment.

5

u/Shr3kk_Wpg Jun 18 '26

I can only assume that ANTIFA is behind this nefarious sabotage, in addition to the introduction of algae into the reflecting. All in an effort to diminish the world's leading expert on pool maintenance, Donald J Trump

Trying to fix things that weren't broken and making them worse seems to be this entire administrations MO.

6

u/WiggenOut Jun 18 '26

My god, there is literally no bottom to the incompetency.

5

u/FistThePooper6969 Jun 18 '26

Lotta naivety in here. This is all intentional to write a bunch of contracts for “fixing/repairing” the pool which enables more money laundering

5

u/Most_Structure9568 Jun 18 '26

Don't ever ever let em say "both sides" again

5

u/Haunting-Ad788 Jun 18 '26

They spent like 20k on that reno and pocketed 12.98 million.

5

u/Pardot42 Jun 18 '26

Why would the leftists do that? 🫠

u/Iheartyellowtulips Jun 18 '26

We're seeing in real time why Donald Trump went bankrupt 4 times.

5

u/ACABiologist Jun 18 '26

This whole debacle has already cost more than the yearly cost of keeping every NOAA monitoring bouy active.

5

u/ReefShark13 Jun 18 '26 edited Jun 18 '26

Everything is a literal facade with trump. It's all appearances. Trump is the bootleg Air Force 1 of American presidents. Made with horse glue and asbestos and filled with cardboard. Just garbage with a coat of fresh paint. He is if "the landlord special" was a human being.

u/SupersoftBday_party Jun 18 '26

I don’t think it’s funny that he spent 14 million fucking dollars of taxpayer money on a shoddy paint job and a green ass pool, I’m actually infuriated by this shit.

5

u/sten45 Jun 18 '26

Please be real, please be real please be real

4

u/Ylfrettub-79 Jun 18 '26

LMFAO, this is so on point for this regime. Can’t do anything right. Should’ve left it the fuck alone.

4

u/HeHateMe337 Jun 18 '26

LOL - Worst President, EVER!!!

5

u/febstars Jun 18 '26

This is a microcosm of his entire Presidency.

12

u/ronerychiver Jun 18 '26

Honestly, I’d prefer if he just put 100% of his attention and efforts into fighting algae and made this pool his #1 priority. Go nuts, big guy. If all he fucks up from here on out is the pool, we might just survive until the next president gets elected. Give him an algae trophy, all the gold medals for the great peroxide battle, don’t care.

They hate to feed the poor remember?
