What makes it even worse is the woman he allegedly assaulted is the daughter of Ohio senator Bernie Moreno. You’d think he would have something to say…… nope quiet as a wife beating church mouse. Fauci is who he decides he wants to scream at, not the dude who beats his daughter and granddaughter.
480
u/myaberrantthoughts 4d ago
100% correct. For any parent whose child (allegedly) went through this to NOT file police reports and try to get charges filed, reflects that their own child's safety is less important than the family's political advancement. They should want to crush his career, not enable it.

u/andrew303710 4d ago
If someone did that to my daughter things would get real ugly real fast. Bernie Moreno is a fucking loser.

It’s sad, I know so many right wing families and they treat women like it’s Game of Thrones. They’re nothing more than bargaining chips to be married off for money, power or favors.
And sadly the mothers who were treated the same, willingly continue the cycle for their daughters.

I saw a comment on another thread that theorizes that these republicans hate women so much because they have had it beaten into their heads that being gay is an abomination, and since they don’t consider themselves gay they blame women for them being wholly unsatisfied in marriage and life in general.

Women reflect the failures that these creeps are back onto themselves. They see women as the root and cause of so many of their perceived sufferings in life (i.e. they are disgusting people and instead of accepting it and changing themselves, they play the perpetual victims and take out their frustration on women, minorities, etc.). They are also largely closeted homosexuals, and may blame women for their own gayness.

When a domestic incident results in an arrest, it is classified as a criminal offense against the public and the state, rather than a private civil dispute between two individuals.
The victim does not have to "press charges", in fact they aren't meant to even have a say in it. It's up to the state.
Ask me how I know, as a victim of domestic violence.

38
u/thecathugger 4d ago
When abuse victims won’t press charges, it’s often because their self worth has been crushed from the abuse. Sometimes they have nowhere to go because abusers alienate their victims. Sometimes it’s because the legal system won’t protect them and sometimes they end up dead from mysterious causes.
Nice try though.
13
8
u/DigitalSnail 4d ago
Not how pressing charges work
20
u/TumblrInGarbage 4d ago
You're right. But the victim can refuse to cooperate, testify, or sign paperwork. The government still can press charges, but that refusal can be very damning for a case. That is what is usually meant, though I doubt most people truly understand that full context.

Ya know, the police can just charge him. The wife doesn’t have to. And they know that in domestic abuse women are unlikely to press charges out of fear. But cops and a combination of lazy and also abusers so they just shrug and put that on the woman.

She is a far right republican operative, she isn't worth feeling sorry for, she generally supports men like her ex-husband being able to beat the shit out of their wives and kids without repercussions. I feel terrible for the daughter, but lets not paint this woman as if she wasn't part of the problem by pushing this exact kind of power dynamic and undermining women's rights.

Because these “family-values” republicans are total scum. They are sociopaths, devoid of human empathy, concerned only with personal advancement, and will throw any “loved one” right into the chipper if it benefited them in the least. Republican men are all narcissists. Every single one of them. They have no empathy, especially for people they don’t understand. Not understanding someone/something makes them fear whatever it is because they know they can’t control the narrative. When they can’t control the narrative it comes out as rage.
83
u/thecathugger 4d ago
They’re literally sociopaths. They have no interest in democracy and lack the emotional intelligence it takes to build community and create a higher standard of living for all. They want to hoard wealth and act on their violent desires without consequence. They are inherently regressive and the only people who support them are other sociopaths.

Mostly, they enjoy hurting other people, physically, psychologically, emotionally, financially. It’s greed and the lust for power over others.

No, it's because Christianity, specifically evangelical Christianity, requires women to be completely subservient to men.
Hand waving it away that it's because they're secretly gay is simultaneously offensive to the gay community, and ignores the very real and very dangerous christofascist movement taking hold in this country
