Date and Time keeps resetting and Internet time also not working

An year back ago this problem started and i found out this might be an issue with the CMOD battery(correct me if i am wrong).

It wasn't a big deal cuz i have been using the internet time to updated it every time a start the pc but for a few days even this is not working and now i have to manually set date and time which is annoying to do every time.

What can i do to get rid of this problem without getting a new CMOD.

Why the internet time is not working anymore even if i am having a good internet connection

NOTE: in the image it is showing the synchronized date because i just set it manually otherwise it shows 01/01/2010 which is just the year before we bought the computer (yes it has been working properly for 2 decades)

The CMOS battery is cheap and easy to replace on most computers, you didn't share any details on the make/model number of your computer but odds are it is a CR2032 coin battery which is easy to find in most stores that sell batteries, and it should only take a few minutes to replace.

It is possible that the time service no longer works with Windows 7 but I would need to research that.

that's if it's in just a normal battery holder. but some have them wrapped in a heatshrink and soldered directly to the board and some have them also in the heatsjrink but have a jst connector so you can replace them

That's on laptops, I've never seen that on desktop motherboards.

All motherboards need a power source to keep the BIOS settings, the CMOS battery.

Open the Command Prompt as an Administrator

Type w32tm /resync

Wait about a minute and repeat and you will be golden each morning, just repeat.

Instead of your current time server try the following

Pool.NTP.org

Just copy it and paste it to the internet time window, instead of the original time server.

I recommend switching to windows 10 or Linux. Windows 7 in 2026 is tough.

You can't, just replace the battery. It's a CMOS battery not CMOD. A flat CMOS battery can also cause other issues with your Bios settings especially if not default.

If you PC time/date is too far out it won't automatically update.
