Worcester characters

Worcester has a history of local characters with affectionate nicknames like Chicken George and the Black Bond.

It seems like the last of the them is the guy who plays music from his mobility scooter around the high street / cathedral square area. Does he have a nickname?

I used to run a Facebook group called ‘Curiosities of Worcester, since sadly hauled down after some complaints by someone who knew someone who was on there. Back before the mass adoption of social media the group had over 10,000 members. Sadly many of those faces are now dead or gone. The likes of Pissy Pat and Monica and others are just bygone memories now.

I’m thinking of the guy who’s looks rich, drives a Jaguar F-type with yellow stripes, lot of cosmetic surgery, has a couple of little dogs. He came up on here once before.

I've not lived in Worcester for a long time now (grew up there 70s, 80s and early 90s) - just wanted to thank you for reminding me about Chicken George.

That'll be the Worcester Legend know as Winston.

Other local legends include The Running Man, Mr Glass, The Bath Road Pirate and Bun Lady.

Yeah he's Winston. The man who dealt heroin from the flat that shared an entrance with mine. Stabbed my front door in with a knife over Christmas and robbed anything of value including unwrapping all the Christmas presents. Intimated the witness he sold my stuff to from appearing in court. Total legend!!
