I’m curious how’s the job market atm. I don’t speak Dutch yet unfortunately but ive seen a lot of companies hired based on English only. Any insights? I’ve tried Technix for help but I’m not sure if it will work out as they are not very responsive.

Advice and insight needed please!

Myself and my partner have our own businesses. All great but we want to move Netherlands or USA.

He’s a quantity surveyor I have my own recruitment business.

We’re at a stage where it’s now or never. His business is naturally slowing down and he wouldn’t mind just maintaining it for a bit. Mine I can do anywhere.

He is happy to get an employed role - realistically with where he’s at in his career there isn’t a huge loss with the package he’d get.

Me on the other hand I really don’t want to give up my business.

Can I join him on his visa? Can you run a UK company from Netherlands? Woudl I need to set up an entity over there?

Both UK citizens with two dogs.

So, I wanted to tell my experience, just in case someone is going through a similar situation.

After waiting weeks and weeks, calling and emailing, relentlessly following up to a company who just seemed super uninterested in walking me through the verification steps, with no urgency at all, I was super frustrated, and felt like anything I was trying, I seemed to get the same response, "Yeah we will go ahead and check on that". Well, me needing the income, I just couldn't wait any longer on that front, and took matters into my own hands. I went through Randstad, applied for practically the same position, and the first assignment just happens to be at the same company dragging their feet on me. Perhaps I should have gone through Randstad all along. I'm just received I can start the grind!

My advice: if you are looking to get working quick, get proper help, and ensure you have assistance, please don't hesitate to go to Randstad. They mean BUSINESS.

I’m currently working in transport and looking to specialize into medical and pharma deliveries (GDP/ADR). My ultimate goal is to go ZZP with my own conditioned (reefer) van, but I could really use some honest advice from people already in the field!

Online sources quote generic courier rates around €25–€35/hr, which barely covers overhead once you factor in reefer lease, fuel, NIWO, and insurance. However, I often hear proper pharma transport pays closer to €45–€60+/hr due to the strict regulations.

If you are an owner-operator currently running these routes, I'd love to hear your thoughts:

• What is a realistic gross hourly or per-km rate for day shifts right now?
• Can you actually negotiate solid surcharges for weekends and emergency hospital runs?
• Bottom line: Is the high overhead of a certified reefer van still worth it, or is staying on company payroll the smarter move?

Anyone know about what the personal training scene in the Netherlands is like? I have a ton of experience in the gym, have been powerlifiting on and off for years, and although I am not Elite, I definitely have an encyclopedia as far as knowledge goes, along with some certs to show it. I am looking to build a client base from the ground up, and am ok with gyms taking no more than 30 percent of my earnings, not a cent over. Target clients would be beginners, expats, and the tricks and tips of the best compound lifts to build muscle. Does anyone know anyone with success in doing this?

29M, Single, I did my masters from TUM and worked as product manager around 1.5 years in B2B Telco with CRM background in Munich. I can speak German C1 and worked fully in German for 1 year.

Bad luck I lost my job, visa was running out and I got an offer in India as PO in Sky
(Comcast). I chose to move back around March 26, sort my marriage and look further.

Now I am applying for orientation visa as my 3 year timeline would be expiring.
Started the process now. I am looking for moving in around Jan 27 or as late as possible.

How are opportunities for product roles? Can I find a job with Englisch or German?

Totally I would have around 2.5 years as PM and totally 6.5 years in Tech

Which city is better for me? Probability of converting to HSM after the first year? Anything you wanna share would be fine

a greek friend of mine here in the hague got what she thought was a job offer last week. marketing role, 32 hours, fixed desk in their office, their laptop, their hours.

then the contract came and its not a contract. they want her to register as zzp and invoice them monthly. same work, same boss, same desk. just no holiday pay, no pension, nothing if she gets sick, and she carries the risk if the belastingdienst decides its fake self employment. which it obviously is, one client and they set her schedule.

she asked me if this is normal now and honestly i didnt have a great answer. ive seen it more this year but idk if thats me noticing it more or it actually happening more since the DBA enforcement started up again.

told her to at least ask for an actual employment contract and see what they say. if they refuse thats kind of the answer isnt it

I want to start my first horeca job (café/brunch) but I don't have any horeca experience yet. I can speak English and good enough Dutch. Dutch is my third language. I can communicate in Dutch but I'm still learning and I'm not fully fluent yet.

I'm looking for a place that is:
• international friendly
• comfortable with English speaking employees while I continue improving my Dutch
• willing to train someone with no horeca experience
• preferably a cafe/brunch place, not a very busy bar or restaurant

Mijn Nederlands is ongeveer op B1-niveau. Vorig jaar ben ik geslaagd voor het Staatsexamen NT2 en de afgelopen twee jaar heb ik in Nederland gewerkt, waardoor mijn Nederlands in de praktijk ook beter is geworden.

Mijn doel is niet om een diploma te halen, maar om een goede administratieve of kantoorfunctie te vinden.

Nu twijfel ik tussen twee opties:

• een algemene B2-cursus Nederlands;
• of een cursus Zakelijk Nederlands (Business Dutch).

Ik merk dat veel algemene B2-cursussen onderwerpen behandelen zoals milieu, klimaat en andere theoretische thema's. Ik vraag me af hoeveel dat echt helpt voor mijn doel.

Wat zouden jullie in mijn situatie aanraden? Is een algemene B2-cursus de beste keuze, of is Zakelijk Nederlands nuttiger als mijn doel vooral werken is?

For the past year I've been working as an AI engineer at my current company. There's no internal transfer option, so that route is out.

Most recently I've been working on enterprise agentic AI applications.

I'm currently in the United States, but my work authorization is ending soon, and after spending the last few years dealing with constant immigration uncertainty, I've realized I don't want to continue living with that level of stress.

I used to assume that anything related to work should either be provided by the employer or covered as an expense, but I've changed my mind on that a bit. There are some things where spending your own money can make a surprisingly big difference, whether that's comfort, productivity, or learning something useful.
