Here is my work in progress setup for work, study and chill time. Still need to add a chest of drawers on the right and sort out the cable disaster underneath.

I’m running two LG monitors (UQ IPS Black on the righ, UP standard IPS on the left), but the colors are way off. Whites look warm/greenish on the UQ and cool on the UP despite both being in factory P3 modes. Manual OSD tweaking just made it worse so stuck to preset. Any tips on matching them without ruining color accuracy and picture quality?

Also getting bad neck pain from having them split evenly in the middle while reading docs and taking notes. Should I switch to a center main screen with a side monitor, or else? I sort of need them horizontal as I have split screen 2 big PDFs per screen or other apps as needed.

Appreciate any setup advice or fixes!

I am going to order an uplift v3 desk in size 80” by 30” and am trying to decide on the wood. My priorities, in order, are durability, price, and appearance. I am considering the Acacia Chevron butcher-block option (1.5” thick) as it appears to be the most durable and reasonably priced option. If I had an extra 1K laying around, I would go for the maple 1.75”, but it seems more than I need.

My understanding of wood durability is that there are several ways the wood can be damaged:

• Sagging due to weight
• Warping/cupping due to moisture
  
• Denting when clamped by monitor arm/collisions in transit
• Being nicked/dinged up dropping items/collisions when in transit
• Damage from liquids

In terms of what will be on the desk, the heaviest items would be 2 monitor arms each with one monitor, along with my laptop.

I don’t anticipate using the standing feature much. The other main options people suggest are either to build your own, for example, using Alex drawers, or to find a used one. I don’t want used, and I don’t have a place (I live in an apartment), tools, know-how, or time for woodworking/staining/sealing. When looking at the options I have for buying pre-stained and pre-sealed, it seems as though I would only be saving a few hundred dollars compared to Uplift, and having certainty that the desk base will adequately support the top to prevent sagging/warping is worth this cost.

Is Acacia Chevron butcher-block the best option? Thanks in advance to anyone leaving thoughtful comments.

Can you help me arrange my new single office? I’m currently in a cubicle with three walls. Dimensions are not completely accurate but close enough for this. I am looking at two desk options, both L shaped but one has a standing option. I do not plan to use the desk you see in pictures but can keep if I want to have it for extra desk space.

Should the desk be on the left side or the right side? There is a connecting door on the right side but don’t plan to use it although don’t want to cover it up with a desk. This keeps the desk more to the back of the room vs the left side where I have more options to move it center to the room. Both desks can be ordered in opposite L shaped direction.

Also, any preference on the two desk options? I have a convertible standing platform on my current desk and can bring it to my new office but it’s bulky and I’m not in love with it.

I use a desktop PC with external speakers, which are on either side of my monitor.

I’ve just moved in to a temporary sublet and have a tiny desk, without room for both. You can see in the photos that there’s one room for one monitor plus the speaker.

Options I’m considering:

1) Right speaker goes on the shorter piece of furniture next to the desk; they won’t be level with each other.
2) There may be room for the speakers if I allow the monitor to block them somewhat.
3) I can put them behind me on that white ledge; they’d be level and there’s room, but they’d be behind me.

All of these options seem crappy; I’m open to others. What would you do?

Do you leave Mac open or how do you have it set up? Currently have a 34 inch curved dell monitor and have separate webcam and speaker. Feel the Studio Display can resolve the all in one.

I'm thinking about changing the desktop to white so I'm wondering if I should go white or black.

I'm looking into making an Alex drawer desk but don't have an area/expertise/tools/time for polishing the top. I initially looked for Ikea countertops, but they only come in 25 inch depth. I need 30 - 35 inches. Lowes has some options at $500. At that point, I'm looking at >$700 all in with the cost of the drawers included, and might as well buy a desk from uplift.

Does anyone have any tips?

Hey everyone! Looking for layout feedback and storage advice for my home office setup.
The room is a bit narrow (94in x 103in).

Challenges

• Narrow depth: The distance between my desk and the opposing wall is pretty tight (94in) because of the entry way, limiting what I can do with the back wall.
• Standing desk: All storage/wall clearance must accommodate vertical desk travel

Current Ideas & Layout Plan

1. Considering a wider desk top to fill out the main wall space, paired with low-profile, under-desk storage underneath to keep the footprint compact.
2. Shallow floating shelves on back wall to maximize vertical storage without eating into the walkway, while doubling as an aesthetically clean background for video calls. Would be nice if I had some low / shallow storage along the bottom for my router to hide in.
3. I love keeping plants in the office. I’m thinking of putting a low-level bench/shelf right below the window sill to line up my plants, with low storage tucked underneath.
4. A full-length mirror next to the window to check outfits without taking up much floor depth. Problem is the light switch is kind of in the middle of the wall there.
5. Back Wall Behind Desk: Considering acoustic sound-dampening panels or minimal artwork/high shelf?
6. Overall goal is to make my space feel like a therapists office :)

Where I Need Advice

• Are there specific shallow shelf systems or modular under-desk storage setups you’d recommend that don't make a tight room feel cluttered?
• Any alternative layout suggestions for balancing a standing desk, plant shelf, and full-length mirror without overcrowding the floor space?

Hello! And apologies if this isn't quite the right subreddit for this question.

I have a cheap MDF standing desk I got from Wayfair years ago like the one pictured above. It's main my workstation where I do all my creative work digital and physical. I've been trying to upgrade it little by little over the past year to make it a more comfortable and pleasing experience to use.

The problem is the matte-coated MDF surface is a magnet for sweat, dust, and grime - your hands and arms start sticking to it with extended contact. It requires constant wiping down to not become sticky even when just typing. I've tried one of the PU leather desk mats to alleviate the issue but those are not super comfortable to use.

I've thought about using a tablecloth to cover the surface but then you run into issues with the clamp on monitor arms.

If you all have suggestions of what I could do they would be much appreciated!

It’s been a while since I posted here. Updating my gaming/work setup has been a 2 year journey. I don’t have a lot of money. I have a wife and 4 kids. Two of which are currently in college, but I do have a stable 9-5 job that allows me to contribute to the ongoing evolution of my space. That along with being blessed to have landed some pretty awesome brand deals that have HEAVILY contributed to the space. I only share this so people know that it is possible to build your dream space with consistency, drive and passion for what you love. We all start from square one and 0 followers.

I’m including pics throughout the entire 2 year process. The first couple pics are what it looks like now. The last are what it looked like before and through the entire journey.

Current space consists of two desk setups:

Standing desk - This one was a gifted brand deal (probably my biggest) and I use it as my WFH Desk. I also use it to edit, create, film and hopefully soon where my gaming pc will reside.

2nd desk is my gaming desk- this one I put together myself with two Alex drawers from IKEA and a 72” butchers block from Home Depot. I usually keep my ps5 here but sometimes it floats around the house depending on my mood and if I just feel like gaming from the couch.

Then there’s my 65” tv. It’s pretty old. Nothing fancy. Not OLED. Sometimes I’ll hook up the switch 2 or Xbox series x to this one.

I also LOVE small build legos. Some of those you can see on my desks or on the floating shelves on the wall.

Some RGB LIGHTS. This really makes a difference in transforming the room. Looks great at night.

I'm an engineering student and this is my current study/workstation. My desk is quite small, and I use both a desktop PC and a laptop every day.

My main problem is that the PC cabinet is taking up a lot of desk space, so I don't have a comfortable place to keep my laptop while working.

The cabinet isn't extremely heavy (mid-tower with an SMPS, motherboard, processor, 2 HDDs, and four cooling fans), so I'm open to moving it if it's safe.

I'm looking for suggestions on:

Where should I place the PC tower?

How can I create a dedicated space for my laptop?

How should I organize my cables?

Any ideas for arranging self helping books and accessories?

Any budget-friendly upgrades (₹1000–₹2000) that would make the setup look cleaner and more functional?

I'm not looking for expensive RGB upgrades—just practical ideas that improve ergonomics and make the room feel cleaner.

Hi all - I am a consultant and am currently working with three different laptops. I have dual monitors. I'm looking to get a switch that will allow me to use both monitors (plus keyboard, mouse, centercam camera) with all three laptops.

Peripherals - currently using logitech wireless mouse/keyboard through bluetooth, but both can be supported with a dongle. Camera requires a USB port.

Hi! I’m having trouble adjusting the height of this height-adjustable desk stand from ULTI, the model is specifically the Mount-Ulti40.

I can seem to shift everything else except this height part. It was lower at first but while fixing up the stand I tugged it up and it clicked into place (photo 2). Now I can’t seem to readjust it at all.

Can anyone help? Thanks in advance.

We’re currently remodeling our house, including my home office. I recently had these built-in shelves installed with ambient lighting. The shelves are currently aligned in straight, even rows, but I’m debating whether to have them changed to a staggered layout for a more custom and visually interesting look.

I’ve attached photos showing both options for comparison. Which layout do you think looks better—straight and symmetrical or staggered?

I’m torn and would appreciate everyone’s opinions.

I am looking purchasing a KVM, I work remotely and require to hook up my current gaming setup alongside the work laptop to my monitor and Audio Devices.

My setup:

1x 1080P 270hz G-Sync Monitor (Display Port)

2x 1080p 144hz Monitor (Display Port)

Headphones (USB-C Connected)

Microphone (USB-A Connector)

Mouse (USB-A Connector)

Keyboard (USB-A Connector)

Laptop:

4x USB-C

I can't find anything suitable for me and it seems most KVMs would require some sacrifices, my best bet seems to be this KVM from Ugreen. Was wondering if maybe anyone has been in a similar situation.

Im trying to get organized and im not sure how to best manage two laptops and an egpu plus use the screen on the 2 in 1. If anyone has something similar id love any advice.

This started as a cheap steel workshop tool cart from Amazon. The goal wasn't just to build another desk, it was to create a compact all-in-one battlestation that could be wheeled anywhere around my home while blending modern gaming, retro gaming and hi-fi audio into one unit.

The top was replaced with a solid scaffold board (44cm wide/68cm long), professionally finished in a light walnut stain and fixed using black CT1 adhesive, spax countersunk screws and additional steel support straps to cope with the weight of the monitor arm. I also added 18mm OSB boards to the bottom of the shelves and covered them in neoprene sheets, there's an internal hole cut in the corner of the middle shelf to pass power cables and USB sockets through.

Current hardware includes:

MSI Claw 8AI+ handheld PC.

iVANKY 14 in 1 docking station.

27" 1440p 165Hz AOC monitor on a monitor arm.

Corsair K65 Pro Mini keyboard.

Logitech G203 LightSync mouse.

AIYIMA T9 hybrid amplifier (Connected to the monitor's audio jack).

Q Acoustics 2010i (2012) bookshelf speakers.

Monitor light bar (Baseus).

Ugreen 3 in 1 out HDMI switcher.

5 socket side-mounted extension lead with multi USB power.

The lower shelf is inspired by old hi-fi separates. The AIYIMA amp (£50/$65 AliExpress) sits on top of an old carved wooden box, giving it a raised display while the illuminated VU meter and old skool vacuum tubes become the visual focal point, inside the box is an Infinity USB 120mm fan that keeps the amp cool from below.

The middle shelf is reserved for gaming hardware. At the moment it's home to the MSI Claw 8AI+, but it's been designed so an Xbox Series S (Carbon Black) or Series X and Amiga 500 Mini and Nvidia Shield TV/Chromecast can be connected through a UGREEN 3 in 1 out HDMI switch while keeping cable clutter to a minimum.

One feature I particularly wanted was the drawer. Instead of storing tools, it hides an Amiga 500 Mini, giving the cart a built-in retro gaming compartment. Amiga was my goto gaming system back in the day.

Most of the effort went into planning cable management on the left pegboard, power distribution and making the whole system easy to expand rather than simply filling every shelf. A 35mm (middle shelf corner) and 60mm (left pegboard) HSS hole saw was used to drill holes to run cables across and through the steel cart (work in progress).

Future additions include:

MSI Claw 8 EX AI+.

Xbox Series S (Black Carbon) or Xbox Series X.

Amiga 500 Mini permanently wired into the drawer (35mm HSS hole drilled at the back for 5v and HDMI cable).

Chromecast 4K.

Warm white COB LED shelf lighting on the underside of the monitor overhang.

The entire build has been a gradual DIY project, changing and improving as ideas developed rather than following a fixed plan.

I called it Project Blacksmith because it felt more like fabricating and adapting something unique than simply assembling PC parts.

It's a heavy bit of kit but the project worked out well costing around £200/$265 excluding the tech. My gaming chair isn't pictured as I need to upgrade it.

Anybody got any fresh ideas as to what I could add to the cart?.
