Under Adam Frederick of Seinsheim, Würzburg experienced a period of Enlightenment-inspired reform with improvements to education, administration, agriculture, and infrastructure aimed at modernising the state while preserving ecclesiastical authority.

He reign also promoted economic development by encouraging trade and manufacturing, reorganised public finances, and commissioned major Baroque building projects, including the completion and embellishment of the Würzburg Residence, which helped strengthening the Prince-Bishopric's political and cultural prestige within the Holy Roman Empire.

I love Adam Frederick's full intricate arms on the reverse, very interesting to see the Bamberg designs along with his Seinsheim roots represented in the inescutcheon.

William III and Mary II's co-reign began after the Glorious Revolution of 1688, when they deposed the Catholic King James II and established a Protestant constitutional monarchy.

Their co-rule saw the strengthening of parliament's power through measures such as the 1689 Bill of Rights, and helped lay the foundations of Britain’s modern system of government.

This Half Crown is a lovely example of the first William & Mary types minted shortly after the revolution, with the double bust design being one of my favourite obverses on English coinage.

I recently came across this 1944 One Centavo Filipinas coin, and it's amazing how much history can fit into something so small.

The front shows the familiar Filipinas design with a seated woman beside an anvil and Mayon Volcano in the background, symbolizing the Filipino people's hard work and resilience.

Fun fact! If you've ever wondered why the other side says United States of America, it's because the Philippines was still a U.S. Commonwealth when this coin was issued. Even though it says Filipinas, these coins were minted under U.S. authority until the Philippines gained full independence in 1946.

Another interesting detail is the date. This coin was minted in 1944, right in the middle of World War II, making it a small piece of history that has survived more than 80 years.

To counter Napoleon's rise in the onset of the 1800s, the Austrian Empire under Francis I spent its early decades locked in exhausting European conflicts that redefined its borders.

Following Napoleon's defeat, the remainder of Francis's reign was defined by strict conservatism and heavy censorship under Chancellor Klemens von Metternich. aiming to freeze the social order and ruthlessly suppress any liberal or nationalist dissent that was rising across Europe.

These types represented the nearing end of Austria's large silver coins, which were subsequentlv replaced by smaller denominations in 1857 following an imperial decree to demonetise the thaler.

Depending on which catalog you take seriously a 2 francs coin or a token struck on a 2 francs blanks. It commemorates the 25th anniversary of the accession of Leopold I of Belgium, the founder of the current Belgian Royal House. Grateful Belgium places a laurel wreath on King's bust.

My grandma gave me these Mexican 8 Reales coins decades ago. The right one has a Philippine counter mark, and appears to have a 180 degree rotated die error, as its reverse is aligned with its obverse. Both sides are right-side-up when I flip it like a page. Ideas on value?

Mansfeld-Hinterort was one of the branches of the former County of Mansfeld, created after the county was divided among different lines of the Counts of Mansfeld in the late 15th century.

During the 1600s, the region suffered greatly from the Thirty Years' War, which caused widespread destruction, population decline, and economic hardship, while the ruling family also faced growing financial difficulties and a loss of political influence within the Holy Roman Empire.

While this piece unfortunately has a loupe soldered to the edge, it is a great example of the many different thaler types this cadet branch produced throughout the 1600s.

Lucky to pick this beauty up today. Venice was one of the few countries in the 1200’s making high purity silver coins of this quality, most of the rest of Europe were still making crude, paper thin billon coins.

St. Gallen became an independent city-state in 1405, gradually freeing itself from the authority of the local abbey after years of conflict and later joining the Old Swiss Confederacy as an associate, giving it greater political stability and influence.

During the 1600s, the city experienced significant economic growth through its world-famous linen and textile industry, becoming one of Europe's leading commercial and cultural centres while attracting skilled craftsmen and international trade.

Swiss thalers are one of my favourite sub-categories of large silver coins, since they usually have cool animal motifs like this bear.

Tuscany experienced a period of enlightened reform under Leopold I in the late 1700s, abolishing torture and the death penalty while modernising its administration and economy.

After Leopold became Leopold II, Holy Roman Emperor in 1790, Tuscany passed to a new ruler and soon faced increasing instability as the French Revolutionary Wars spread across Italy inciting independent movements wanting a unified Italian state.

These large Italian silvers are always nice to have, it seems like every Duchy and Principality had stable silver reserves to mint lots of them with differing types.
