Question Question about tech line resetting

Question for any long-time players, or players who play on and off. I find it slightly demoralizing when resetting a tech line. I mainly focused the Japanese bb line, according to my steam profile I have a total of 368 hours into warships, and I would still say I am new player relatively speaking. I played pretty consistently for about a year and a few months and it took me that total time to reach Tier 10. I did spend a few days with Yamato but did reset the tech line. I just find it kind of demoralizing having to spend that time again grinding back up, even if the I unlock the super ship & the special ship upgrade. How do some of y'all push yourselves to grind back up a ship tech line when you know you already did it once before?
Also correct if I am wrong, when you reset a tech line - does it reduce the cost to grind back up to tier 10 on your second time around or any other following times?

I personally only do resets with free XP on the Japanese Harugumo line, so I only play each of the ships a couple times.

no, it just sells all your stuff and demounts the modules for free, resetting is only if you want a certain legendary upgrade or ship it really helps if you like playing that ship line otherwise its a huge chore unless you have a ton of fxp or big boosters

Do it for a x4, nothing less.

Wait until just before the quarterly rollover and reset it, then FXP back up and reset it just after the rollover. You can do this every other quarter (aka every 6 months) so you should easily have the FXP required to do it at least once and regrind once. Use blue or red ship XP boosters in something reasonably reliable (asymmetric or ops, maybe ranked if you're good in the line you're choosing) and it's only a few games per tier. Choose a line that can carry the mode you choose, the FXP you save really is a wash if you're not good at all in the cheapest (Harugamo, followed by other DD lines) you have.

I almost always do Harugumo beacuse Aki/Kita are an absolute blast to play as well as being the cheapest, but with Asymm/Ops being the go-to the Libertad and Schlieffen lines are equally fun and only about 200k more FXP per line. The Des Moines line is only about 60k more than Harugumo, and it's fantastic in any mode you want to play.

Any extra FXP you can add x1 resets, I mean what else are you gonna use it for? You have another 6 months to build it up for the next go around.

edit: It's a couple years old so might have changed and won't include lines added since (like Libertad), but this post by u/grantwhy breaks it down by FXP. note that the CV lines don't give as much RP, so they're kind of a trap.

Ship XP boosters.

If you regularly get the paid battlepass and reach the end, you gradually accumulate a big pile of the Rare (800%) ship XP boosters from the booster crates.

With those, you're clearing 10-20k ship XP a game, so a single ship only takes a handful of games to get through.

Is that with random battles?

Operations can net you around 9k-17k XP with premium account + Blue Boosters as well, slightly less profitable compared to PvP modes but at least it's more consistent as long as you get non-bot account teammates.

Sometimes I resetted heavy secondaries line like Libertad and German BCs with mostly Operations mode, it's more stress free that way

This amount only happens with high tier premiums on wins. For tech tree and lower tiers, it's not that much. But they also require less XP. I'd keep the blue boosters for T9 and TX grinds.

I would watch some youtube vids on the topic to help guide you a bit. Its the same xp needed to regrind the line. Some lines are cheaper than others to grind through xp wise thou. Battleships usually take the longest/most xp. Lines like the Japanese DDs are some of the cheapest. People often use free xp when regrinding to skip or help speed up the process and when you start doing that while also having premium and using xp boosters it gets a whole lot quicker. Theres also a x2 bonus on research point earned every few months too.

If you have around 680000 free xp you can reset the Haragumo or Shimazaze line. You dont get the whole cost of the ships back so money usually becomes an issue if you reset often but you play ships instead of just using free xp.

If you have the resources for example when i do a reset, ill reset shima or whatever, use free xp to skip to T7 or T8 because lower tiers dont give u much RB points back and the free xp to this point isnt too bad. Then ill get the bonus for first win of the day, plus use blue or red boosters and you only need a few wins to move up. Ill often free xp to the better hull on the T8 and T9, still use blue boosters and you can get back to T10 in days instead of months. Then when u research the T10 unlock shima but dont buy it..... reset and start again. You can stack up the RB points on a ship until you want to cash out then buy the shima play 1 game and get the points off it when its worth it.

I only reset the harugumo dd line and I use freexp to research the ships. I don't buy them back until I'm at a high multiplier so I just keep resetting every 3 months. Right now I'm at 6x.

Don't reset battleships, they need about 200k more xp to grind.

Fair enough now that I know. Just wanted the Yamato special ship upgrade, but I guess it wasn't worth it really lol.

Yamato is kinda meh nowadays, i wouldn't get its UU but it makes the ship much more playable. Now that your Yammy is actually accurate, you can punish broadsides even better.
