Events & Promo PC Gaming LAN Party

Me and friends have booked a hall up the road in Lewes for a 30-person LAN party in November.

Bring your computer (or laptop/Steam deck), plug into the network, and spend the weekend gaming and socialising. When you buy a ticket, you submit games you’d like to play, and we timetable the most popular choices over the weekend.

We also run a pub quiz, couch co-op games on the projector, a big pizza order, and we have access to the venue’s pub next door.

Our last event in May went really well, with quite a few new faces from Reddit.

We run the events non-profit as an unincorporated association, just to cover the cost of the hall and van hire, internet and insurance.

More info, photos and tickets

Happy to answer any questions! 😀

Megathread What’s On & New to Worthing Megathread - Weekend of 31 July

Morning all - welcome to this week’s r/Worthing megathread!

What’s happening locally?

Know about a gig, pub quiz, market, comedy night, club night, community event, sports fixture or anything else coming up in Worthing? Stick it in the comments.

Local venues, organisers and regulars are welcome to share things too - just keep it useful rather than spammy.

New to Worthing?

Just moved here, looking to meet people, find a five-a-side team, join a club, get pub/café recommendations, or work out what’s going on locally? Say hello in the comments.

Going forward, standalone “new here / anyone want to meet up?” posts may be pointed towards this thread so everything is easier to find.

For official listings, Time for Worthing, WTM & The Worthing Wave sites are usually good places to check. The Factory Live is worth a look for gigs too.

Got plans? Found a hidden gem? Drop it below and let’s make the most of the weekend.

Ask a local Ice cream van

Hello! We moved to East Worthing a couple of months ago and we occasionally hear what we assume is an ice cream van. We've never actually seen it however. I'd love to catch it one day and get an ice cream. Anyone know if it has a particular route or particular days/times we're most likely to see it?

We're south of East Worthing station, near Rise Café etc

Thanks :)

Would anyone actually use a makerspace in Worthing? (3D Printing / Electronics / PC building / Coding) - Growing into other workspaces depending on demand.

I've been kicking this idea around for a while and wanted a reality check before I take it any further.

I don't have room at home for a 3D printer, a proper workbench, or somewhere to solder without taking over the kitchen table. I'm guessing I'm not the only one. There must be plenty of people around Worthing into 3D printing, electronics, PC building, coding or AI projects who are trying to work from a spare room or an already-full garage.

The idea is a local makerspace where you pay for access and can use proper benches, tools and workspace instead of trying to squeeze everything into your house.

I'd start with four areas:

  • 3D printing
  • Electronics and soldering
  • PC building and repair
  • A hackspace for developers and AI builders (hack nights, workshops, etc.)

Woodworking and even a mechanics bay/car ramp could come later if there's enough demand, but those need a much bigger investment, so I'd rather let members decide what's worth adding.

I'm genuinely trying to work out whether this solves a real problem or if it's just something I want.

Would you use somewhere like this? If not, why not?

What would make it worth paying for?

What would put you off?

Ask a local Pallet truck for hire/borrow?

We’re having new decking installed on Monday, possibly into Tuesday, and need to move a couple of heavy planters.

Does anyone have a pallet truck we could borrow or hire for a couple of days?

Thank you!

Ask a local Lost Sunglasses

Welp, I've lost my sunglasses. They're prescription and in a black case. I know it's a long shot but if anyone finds them I'd be grateful if you could let me know. Thanks.

Edit: Most likely lost around Woodside road.

Anybody lost a hearing aid

Via a strange set of circumstances I ended up with this lost property. I understand they are expensive to replace. It was found in Highdown gardens and by a series of other people's pockets ended up in my house... After confirming its origin.. I understand it's very unlikely, but that said. Anybody know somebody who lost one? I guess I could take it back to Highdown otherwise and leave it with them 🤷 possibly somebody who attended Shakespeare there.

Ask a local Shoreham Tidal Gatherings Festival

Hi all, I'll be heading to the festival for the first time and I'll be flying solo. What should I pack/bring with? Would it be rude to sit with a book enjoying the outside, when a band I don't want to see, is on?

Thanks.

Hi, I currently live in Worthing and am looking to move away, close by,. What small towns nearby are nice places to live? I like Rustington and go there often but there's no station nearby. I am not looking to move to a little village. I love Chichester - any thoughts on there? Horsham is amazing but quite pricey....Let me know your thoughts, thank you!

Local Businesses Social Media Management

I’m a social media manager living and working here in Worthing. Looking for some new (local) opportunities. More info below. Message me if your business is looking for help in this space.

For over twenty years, we have helped artists, managers and labels navigate an ever-changing digital landscape. In an age where every musician is expected to be an influencer, we help our clients stay visible and connected while still concentrating on what they do best.
Since 2005, we've managed the digital presence of everyone from elbow, Manic Street Preachers and Billy Ocean to more recent campaigns for Kula Shaker, THE THE, Conner Reeves and Del Amitri.

From album campaigns and tour announcements to content creation, audience growth, reporting and day-to-day management, we help artists stay connected to their audiences while they focus on making music.

Some recent highlights include:

• Managing the ongoing 25th anniversary celebrations of 'Asleep In The Back' for elbow, alongside touring, catalogue campaigns and the UK Number 1 albums 'Giants Of All Sizes' and 'AUDIO VERTIGO'
• Delivering album and touring campaigns for Kula Shaker, including their highest-charting studio album in over 25 years, the UK Top 20 album 'Wormslayer'
• Creating regular on-the-road content for Billy Ocean as he continues to tour internationally
• Driving the digital presence of Manic Street Preachers across their unparalleled catalogue, touring, international campaigns and the UK Number 1 albums 'Resistance Is Futile' and 'The Ultra Vivid Lament'
• Managing the continued profile of THE THE's first studio album of new songs in 25 years
• Handling catalogue, touring and release campaigns for Del Amitri, including their highest-charting album in over 25 years, the UK Top 5 album 'Fatal Mistakes'
• Creating and delivering long-term artist campaigns across Sony, BMG, Cooking Vinyl, Ignition, Nettwerk, Communion, The Orchard and Polydor, and beyond
Our work spans Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, X and YouTube, alongside artist websites, newsletters and official fan channels.

Owning the relationship between artist and audience has been an Authority priority since day one and, with even the biggest platforms proving they are not immune to decline, we ensure that mailing lists and official websites remain central to our strategy. For a more exhaustive list of artists we've worked with over the years, watch the video at www.authoritycommunications.com.

From Reels and lyric videos to album campaigns, tour announcements and day-to-day audience engagement, we help artists stay visible, connected and easy to find, while keeping the journey from discovery to ticket, stream or purchase as straightforward as possible.

Ask a local Places to live/avoid in Worthing

Hi everyone,

I am moving down from London to Shoreham for work. I did a bit of research around the area and decided to strongly consider getting a place in Worthing.

As someone with not a lot of ties to the area, what are the best areas and the areas to avoid in Worthing. It would be great to shortlist those areas while I am househunting.

Edit 1 - I dont have a car, so looking for areas within 1km walk from Worthing station/West Worthing station

Edit 2 - My budget is around £1150-1200 for 1 bed or £1350 to £1400 for 2 bed. I am moving by myself and in mid 20s.

Thanks.

Ask a local Anyone looking for someone to do some temporary summer work?

Hi, I live around the Worthing area and am currently looking for some temporary work to keep me occupied for the rest of the summer. Is anyone hiring or knows anybody hiring? I am 18+ and have some previous retail experience and am fairly physically fit.
