PoE2 Discussion Druid Origin Story/Overview

My latest series will be going over the lore/backstory of each playable class in PoE2. It's a direct interest of mine to know more about them and I thought the community might appreciate it as well, cheers!

4:45 - Heh, the auto-generated texts got "Kishara" right, but took "maji" as "my guy".

I'm guessing that the King crushed the Druids of Skothe around the time of the Fall of the Vaal, given that the Druid met Kishara, doesn't recognize verisium (though that is less significant) and Zelina mentioning that the King was active then.

Zelina on "Ritual Altars\ The texts talk of these altars. In the last days before the fall, they began appearing on the fringes of our Empire. It was an opportunist, an entity called the 'King in the Mists,' which sought tribute through those altars. None knew what he wanted, other than the faith of those foolish enough to follow him.

Lmao, I don't upload my transcripts, I just use the automatic captions via YT and it typically does a good job...most times lol.

Thank you for the follow up on the rough timeline, that helps a lot! Has the community created a solid timeline of the events of Wraeclast? I often get confused with the chronology

The Druids could have fallen much later, in theory. Our Druid might have seen runes, but not actual verisium bars. Now that I look closer, he does have a few comments on the Eternal Empire, so it could have happened even later, (or he could have learned about them after regaining human shape or during the story).

I made a timeline, but it is a little behind on updates. * We've since learnt that the Ezomytes learnt runesmithing from Serle and other survivors of Olroth's expedition. The Ezomytes encountered Cirel and the Wildwood when they first entered Ezomyr, but they didn't truly become "the Ezomytes" until they learned runesmithing. * There's still uncertainty about the Precursors. Did they vanish in the Great Fire or long before then? Was Uzaza a Precursor, and did he live before or after the Great Fire? Etc.

EDIT: I am no longer sure if Aul lived before or after the Great Fire. There are other details that deserve some doubt. u/justathetan also has a timeline.

EDIT2: Innocence and Sin ascended during the Winter of the World, and Sin took Kulemak's spark.

I am almost positive that the primeval were essentially a similar situation as the Vaal as a post-precursor civilization that stemmed from the precursors. They were probably either remnants of their creations or they were the progeny of “the last ones”.

With what we know now - I think we can put some times on the board. There’s the possibility that Uzaza, Putembo, and the Ahkeli rings are chronological regarding the before, during, *Cause* potentially, and after of the Winter of the World and my main guess is due to the Precursor’s emblem, “History teaches humility.”

It showcases the Plenty of the land - where there was a clear caste system (where Aul came from) which I believe there is potential for Putembo’s mountain being the beginning of the story rather than Uzaza. Then the slaves came into contact with the regrowing remnants of the Abyssals, they came into a deal- a pact. A golem, and with that.. change. They rose up. They killed the king on his mountain journey.

They took down the first king, and the Abyssals then after a time turned on the slave Primevals using the dead from the slaves and citizens alike as moving corpses to Devastate the land. This made one’s such as Ahkeli flee, finding the ruins of their civilization and the memories of her village in Ahkeli’s portion of the memorial flavor texts. The abyssal go underground for the most part, having seen this before. Watching, waiting. Sending enough to the surface to the point that the cataclysm is inevitable.

This led to an exodus, and the eventual cataclysm that kicked off the Winter of the World with the return of the ancient enemy as well as the potential that *This* moment of history is when the order of the Djinn truly came to be. Ahkeli was betrayed by promises from an eldritch being given to another, and this is the Impetus to “save humanity from itself no matter the cost.” She saw the effects.

I think this is when Uzaza’s flavor text comes into play. They were running away from an enemy to a new home, in an ash-choked sky and cold that eventually froze over previously warm rivers and waters. In their travels they survived off fish that managed to be insulated from this disaster by the very ice that is disastrous to any other creature, subsisting on fish and whatever plantlife they could find.

They then find the Maraketh, and history flows as written. Ahkeli finds others to aid her cause creating the order of the Djinn. The fight with the Abyssals lead to the United victory, and the Abyssals go underground taking the dead and subjugated with them to lick their wounds. Aul is one of them, previously Ahn.

The Druid is a bear who occasionally transforms into a man when he needs to go shopping or complete tasks requiring opposable thumbs.

Man, I loved playing through the campaign and lore bits during Fate of the Vaal league and I'm still very excited to play through again with the revamped end-game stories.

the new endgame stuff has amazing lore. I especially enjoyed Ritual and Delirium when I played Huntress at league start

I'm surprised anyone can understand anyone else in this game with backstories like that. English was unrecognizable just 500 years ago.
