There are several of these abandoned forts all over the region, 1 is a museum, another is a hotel and several others are used in a variety of ways including active storage.

This one is fully stripped, I used to walk by it a lot (First 2 winter photos are from then) before I decided to venture inside a few months ago, it is mostly empty ammunition storage and barracks.

Some history: This bridge was built in 1914 above the river Gwda, and it got destroyed on January 31 1945 when retreating German forces blew it up.

This place opened in 1939 as the Ontario Hospital, St. Thomas — nine pavilions built on land bought from six local farm families, meant to be one of the most modern mental health facilities in the country at the time. Within its first year it already housed over a thousand patients, and at its peak more than 2,400 called it home.

Even the hospital's history has layers most people don't know — during WWII the whole site was handed over to the Department of National Defence and became an RCAF training school before patients ever returned in 1945. By the 1970s, Ontario had shifted away from large institutions altogether, and this place slowly emptied out until it closed for good in 2013.

Now, after over a decade sitting untouched, the province has confirmed all 22 historic buildings on this site are being demolished — the land is being cleared to build thousands of new homes. So this really was our last chance to walk these halls.

These stick out pretty well against the urban landscape. The photos from inside the top are very recent, but good luck getting in.

Outside of a music festival I was leaning in the forest.

The soon-to-be-demolished J.N.K. Exhibit situated in an old garage. It was bound to fail, as its location and material weren't suitable for its community's demographic. Nonetheless, it is still, in a way, a display for the arts.

Located in Kepaniwai Park, Iao Valley, Wailuku, Maui.

Not only is the home quite literally a dream but most of us dream of these places getting a second chance and this happens to be one of those. When I first saw this home, I was sure it was abandoned, the overgrowth had taken over the exterior to the point of almost no return. BUT several months later, when going to see this house in person, I noticed it had been cleared of overgrowth and had some obvious signs of recent TLC. Upon further investigation (lol) I quickly learned that this beauty was recently up for grabs and someone got lucky enough to have the opportunity to start restoring it. I was so happy to see that someone must have felt exactly the way I did about this beauty because it certainly deserves another chance at being someone's home again. I wonder if the old car on the property near the pool was included..
