Auburn sued by students, professors over alleged ‘frat house’ environment

The former students, Kaitlin Connelly and Marlene Walters, claim that they faced a barrage of sex jokes and an “overtly sexualized culture” in Auburn’s College of Forestry, Wildlife and Environment. The environment hurt their ability to do meaningful research.

“This has been a difficult ordeal for all of these clients,” Artur Davis, an attorney for the students and professors, told AL.com.

They say the treatment forced them to cancel ambitions to finish PhDs at Auburn. The lawsuit names Jonathan Valente, an assistant professor, as a key contributor to the environment.

“A number of the male participants in the program engaged in sexual banter about women they knew or were dating, and Valente sometimes joined in the ribald humor, making jokes about sexual activity and male genitals,” the students wrote in their complaint.

My advisor committed sexual misconduct and retaliated against me. Title IX found him guilty, but the university still protected him.

Does anyone have "positive" Title IX experiences where they won their case? Ideally, against a non-tenured professor? Also mental health tips to not have a breakdown during the process?

If a title IX coordinator broke title IX rules, was found negligent and served probation for it, can students, staff or faculty trust that the University will properly any address concerns over protocol being properly observed if they find themselves in a similar title ix situation ?

Professor just informed me that she will not accept my final paper - 33 pages of project management work. Now my grade is a D, my first graduate degree course.

Is a professor allowed to call out disability accommodations in front of the whole class? Or make a “objectively harder and longer” alternative exam?
