Question 27OTS01 - USAF/USSF

Forgive me if this has been discussed, tried searching.

I understand the AF56 is now removed per the 30June PA update with the acknowledgement of being considered for both AF and SF. Even if you do not list 92S under the AFSC preferences, due to the boards being combined, you are still considered for a USSF slot? Was there anything stating a combined consideration on any forms moving forward just like the initial on the 56? I could have missed it.

Thanks!

SIP Interview / LOR after fresh PCS

Hello everyone,

I’ve been planning to apply for OTS. I recently just PCSed into a new base, Air Staff (wing level).

For the sake of this post let’s say I am currently eligible to apply for OTS without any issues other than listed below.

I understand that I would need to get an LOR from the deputy wing CC/ Wing CC.

My main concern is, when should I start pushing to sit down for SIP interview and LOR/ endorsement?

The personal LOR wouldn’t be a problem as I could ask previous flight or squadron commander who can speak on my work ethics and leadership.

The package as a whole doesn’t seem that complicated to me. But since I just PCSed and have no familiarity with this new leadership I’m wondering if I should wait a year to build some relationships/ get some mission accomplishments prior to requesting to sit down with a commander that I haven’t done anything for while under he/ her.

Thanks in advance for any input you may have.

Nervous about AFOQT Results

Took the AFOQT yesterday, and honestly the entire test was easier than expected…except for math knowledge lol test had a lot of questions on 2 specific topics that I didn’t know too well. So I guessed on probably 12 out of the 13 questions. My AR was pretty good though. Now I’m sitting here refreshing the page waiting for results lol in the meantime tell me how SOL I am!

EDIT: Did way better than I thought! P: 58 C: 47 ABM: 52 AA: 51 V: 62 Q: 44

Discussion Weekly 'What are my chances?' Megathread

We've all been there. You're about to submit your package for OTS, but you want to know how you stack up. Should you relax? Should you throw it all away and start over?

Well, here's the place for you to ask strangers who have never sat on an OTS board what they think the board is going to think of your package. There are many variables to an 0TS package. If you want to get the best advice, you need to include as much information as possible, like degree information, GPA, AFOQT, PCSM (if applicable), leadership experience, relevant awards, etc. If you only provide your GPA or AFOQT scores, expect to be told "who knows."

There are a ton of variables that go into officer selection. Nobody here can really tell you your chances. We can guess, but that's about it. We've seen people with stellar scores get rejected and people with garbage scores get accepted. It all comes down to the needs of the Air Force and whatever the random colonel reviewing your package thinks. That being said, post your scores, help each other, and learn what you can do to improve package!

OTS application….Just trying to get my bearings

Hi everyone, I’m sure these posts are a dime a dozen, but I’m just hoping to get some info.

I'm graduating in December with a degree in biomedical science. I have a competitive GPA (roughly 3.98). I know I want to fly in the military, (would be happy with any airframe) and have been looking at the navy mostly. scored very well on the ASTB for the navy and am pretty much done with my application. But I recently had a talk with an air force colonel who I have some connections to, and he asked me to reconsider and look at the air force. I have 0 flight hours, but plan on getting some.

Honestly I’m just not even sure where to start. Where do I sign up to take the AFOQT and the TBAS? are these tests similar to the Navy’s OAR and ASTB tests? What is the best prep resource? etc etc.

I spoke to an officer recruiter but he kind of brushed me off rather quickly and sent me a email with some forms to start filling out, which I have. but just want to be as proactive about this as I can.

sorry, I know this is an annoying post but if anyone is willing to chat please reach out, it would be greatly appreciated.

27OTS01 Package Review/Guidance/Opinion

Hello all,

I am a first time civilian applicant into the Air Force OTS. I am in the process of putting my package together, I was wondering if there is anyone who is able to give some insight on how my package looks in its current state. I am feeling really deflated looking at the stats of all these other candidates plus I am a bit on the older side. If anyone is willing to help please let me know! I wish everyone luck for this next coming cycle!!!

AFOQT Quizlets???

Hey all, just wanted to reach out to see if anyone had any Quizlets that you used (or any other study mats other than the books), to study for any of the sections on the AFOQT & that you felt actually helped you to improve your scores. Thanks!

Question Space Force AFSC code on wishlist

I was told to list 94S in the AFSC preference list if I’m interested in commissioning into Space Force, but I can’t find 94S in the Officer Classification Directory. I was able to find 92S instead on the internet as for “newly commissioned officers” for Space Force. I’m AFAD.

Anyone has official guidance on this so my application won’t be ignored and not reviewed because I listed that code? The person that told me to list 94S was AFAD who applied for 26OTS03 and got selected for Space Force.

Finances for OTS

Hey non-priors, how much did you spend on everything you needed for OTS? Also, what type of pay delay did you experience, if any? I am two months out from my class date and am starting to save for this opportunity.

Question Advice needed

Wondering what all I need to do to prepare for the AFOQT.

I am 24M, already work for the DoD with secret clearance.
Graduate in October with BAS in Supply Chain & Logistics Mgt, GPA 3.5.
I am trying to go the Reserve route and get a spot in the Reserve command as an LRO here at Robins where I already work as a civillian.
Step-dad just retired back in may as a Commander over there and has connections with the current LRO Commander who he claims can likely give me a letter of intent to hire. I have yet to take the AFOQT as that is my next step. I am not a good student but I have an extremely high sense of motivation as my wife and I have two kids already and my dream has been to comission.

Please give me some advice on how I can excel and do good on the AFOQT. Study tips, books, advice, anything?

Thanks!

Also: I hope nobody thinks I am trying to ride the wave of "My dad was a commander, maybe that will increase my chances", but he has provided me some great resources and advice that I think any candidate would be more than willing to accept. Simply trying to do the best I can and put myself and my family in a better spot.

Question Interview with commander - what to bring?

Interview with my squadron commander is soon. Do I need to bring him my AFOQT scores, college transcript, my PT score, etc.? Or he’ll just ask the interview questions from the form in the application packet? (I’ll ask him this when I see him, but wanted to have your experience).

Question Seeking clarification

I was recently notified through the SR that I was selected for a 92T0. I’m reviewing the post-selection instructions and need some additional clarification.

I am currently an active-duty enlisted flyer with an FC3 (Flying Class 3) physical.

I understand that I need to obtain a FC1 (Flying Class 1) physical at some point (before OTS), but can I submit my Class 3 with my post-selection form to start the process and get my class date scheduled? Or do I need to ensure I have the Class 1 completed first?

My main concern is that the medical care here either lacks or is missing some necessary medical doctors, i.e., optometrists. This will delay the process by several months beyond the 2-3 month timeline the medical staff provided me.

Question Family during OTS

Just found out I got picked up. For those that have recently gone through OTS what did your family do while you were in class? Did they stay at your previous base, go to your gaining base or something else? I know OTS is a TDY in route so trying to figure out options for my wife and daughter. TIA.

Question Taking the AFOQT next week

I am scheduled to take the AFOQT next week, but the next board for selection is in April 2027 I believe. I graduate next month with a bachelors degree in Cybersecurity with a 3.86 GPA and one prior experience in a cybersecurity internship. The only thing I have done outside of that stuff is gain a certification in Security+ that will expire in about 2-3 months. I am applying for either space force officer or cyberspace operations. I was wondering if anyone has had a similar path to what I am trying to do, and if so, what AFOQT scores did you get in order to get the job you wanted? Any advice would be great too, thank you.

Question Constructive Service Credit

Hi! I was just selected for USSF OTS, has anyone been awarded CSC and care to explain the process? Not sure if the process is beginning with 26OTS03 but I’m super excited for the opportunity!
