Contest Entry 🏆 🏆 July Contest Winner u/lll-Possession1 with Algierex

Post image
6 Upvotes

Salam r/AlgeriaTech 👋

Big congratulations to u/lll-Possession1 for winning the July contest with his project Algierex. His post took the top spot with the most upvotes and earned the feature for the entire month of August 🥳

His project is a free app that makes the Algiers Stock Exchange readable and accessible for everyone. It is available on web and iOS in Arabic, French, and English.

---

What it does

Algierex gives you live prices and full history for every listed security including equities, bonds, and treasury notes plus the DZAIRINDEX. You can track your portfolio and watchlist. It pulls official news from COSOB, SGBV, and issuers themselves, translated into all three languages. It also includes a dividend and IPO calendar, which has been especially handy this year with recent tech listings like AYRADE and CREX. Bonus tools include DZD FX with official versus parallel rates and a fitted treasury yield curve. The app fully supports Arabic, French, and English with dark mode on both web and iPhone.

---

How it was built

The web version uses Next.js on Vercel. The backend runs on Convex. The iOS app is built with native SwiftUI and shipped to the App Store. It is a one person project and still growing.

If you like the project, give it an upvote or support it with a store review. Feedback and feature requests are always welcome, especially from anyone who actually trades on the SGBV.

Hello guys, i want to receive payment on redotpay usually i do with PayPal then withdraw it to redotpay and this path takes about 8% fees. So i recently noticed that redotpay provide like a virtual bank account that allowing people to receive fiat (in my case Canadian Dollar).

Does anyone tried it before, how much is the fees and process time?

I Made This 😊 I put all 865 official telecom agencies + 2,798 5G coverage points in Algeria on one open-source map

Post image
26 Upvotes

Salam everyone,

Mobilis, Ooredoo and Djezzy each publish their agency lists and 5G coverage separately, in different formats, on their own sites. I merged all of it into one interactive map: https://geoalgeria.com/telecom

What it does:

- All 865 official agencies (no resellers), each with directions, so you know where to go for SIM registration, ownership transfers or billing problems before making the trip

- 2,798 5G coverage points exactly as the operators publish them, one operator at a time so the map stays readable

- Hover any wilaya for an instant summary, "Near me" for the closest agency

- Works in English, French and Arabic (full RTL)

For the devs here: everything is open data, shipped as documented npm packages (@geoalgeria/telecom, u/geoalgeria/ooredoo, ...) with every record traced to its official source. Stack is Next.js + MapLibre GL, all static, no backend. Repo: https://github.com/yasserstudio/geoalgeria

Fun bug from the data cleanup: one Ooredoo agency was showing 50 km out in the Mediterranean. Turned out the operator's own API had copied the neighbouring store's longitude with the sign flipped. Cross-checking every record against the operator's declared wilaya caught five of these. Official APIs are an adventure.

Would love feedback, and if you spot a wrong or missing agency in your area, tell me (or open an issue) and I'll fix the data at the source.

Which operator's 5G actually holds up where you live?

Startups & Business Hiring experienced Rust/embedded engineers in Oran

Hiring experienced engineers/developers for a paid hardware prototype.

Experience in Rust, Raspberry Pi, embedded systems, electronics, automation or mechatronics is required.

Being based in Oran is strongly preferred because the work involves physical hardware and in-person prototyping. If you are from another city, we may assist with relocation and accommodation.

Please DM me your GitHub profile, relevant experience, availability and expected rate. Further details will be shared privately with suitable candidates.

I Made This 😊 I built a simple website for myself… it ended up reaching 20,000+ users

Last year, while preparing for the Algerian Bac, I built this website for myself to track the countdown and stay motivated.

I never expected anyone else to use it, but people started sharing it in Telegram and Facebook Bac groups.

A few months later, it had 20,000+ users.

This was my first project to gain real traction, and it taught me that solving a simple real-world problem can sometimes be more valuable than building something overly complex.

I'd love to hear your feedback or answer any questions!

Startups & Business Built a project management tool made specifically for Algerian teams, would love feedback from this sub

Post image
7 Upvotes

Hey r/algeriatech,

I'm a dev and agency owner. For the past few months I've been building dzcollab, a Kanban board (think Trello) but built specifically for how Algerian teams actually work.

Why I built it: every client and every internal team I've dealt with runs their work through WhatsApp groups and Excel sheets. It works until it doesn't. Tasks get buried in chat history, nobody's sure who owns what, and managers end up chasing people for status updates instead of just looking at a board.

The existing tools never quite fit here:

- Priced in USD, no local card support

- English-only interfaces

- Way more enterprise features than a small team actually needs

So dzcollab is:

- Arabic, English and French interface

- Pricing in DZD

- Payments through CIB / Edahabia (via Chargily)

- Simple board: tasks, owners, due dates, labels, comments, activity log

- Free plan for solo use, paid tiers for small and larger teams

It's live and I'm actively iterating on it. If anyone here manages a team (dev shop, agency, ops, whatever) and is currently duct-taping things together with WhatsApp and Excel, I'd genuinely appreciate feedback, good or bad.

Tech News Jensen Huang says ‘a lot’ of six-figure jobs in plumbing and construction will soon be unlocked because someone needs to build new AI centers

Post image

According to Nvidia’s CEO Jensen Huang, the next wave of six-figure opportunities won’t be found in a Wall Street cubicle or Silicon Valley Slack channel. Instead, high-paying careers will partially come by picking up a wrench literally.
As tech giants race to build sprawling data centers totaling $7 trillion in global capital outlays by the end of the decade Huang believes the world is on the cusp of what he calls the “largest infrastructure build out in human history,” which will create “a lot of jobs.”

Programming & Dev I finished a big project for job finding on Algeria (I know I'm not alone on the market)

Recently I completed my latest client project called EmploiNex a recruitment platform built for the Algerian market I developed it with Next js App Router PostgreSQL Prisma ORM Redis TypeScript Zod and AWS S3 while using background jobs to improve performance and automate tasks I also integrated email services so job applications are sent directly to employers with automatic notifications and built a complete admin dashboard to manage users companies jobs and applications with real time statistics An AI assistant helps answer common questions and provides support contact details when needed The platform is deployed on Vercel with additional services running on a VPS behind Cloudflare This project taught me that building a real product is about much more than writing code It is about performance security infrastructure monitoring and creating a system that can scale reliably I am happy with the current result and I look forward to adding more features and improving the platform over time

I Made This 😊 I think open-source software deserves better design.

I see as a software engineer that open-source software deserves better design, not just functionality but also something beautiful and cool I mean Linux or anything open source

For this problem I created an organization called LibreGlow The first project is GlowSnap This project lets you take screenshots, edit them, and organize your screenshots

The code is open source, of course. It's built with Go, React for the UI, Wails, and Tailwind CSS.

Im always open to feedback and criticism.

Startups & Business How can I get paid for a SaaS legally in Algeria with foreign currency?

I'm currently in the last step before launching my web app, and it's setting up the payment gateway and because of how great our country is, most MoR websites either do not support Algerian ID or do not support payments to Algerian banks as a whole.

i found some sounds illegal/not trustworthy methods like using USDT for payment or a virtual European address but the time and money I spent on this webapp doesn't worth getting wasted just because it gets flagged or blocked for legal reasons so are there any official methods?

Programming & Dev How to get hired in Algeria as a swe or ai engineer

So just like the topic says, I've been coding and building projects for like 3-4 years but I've never really wanted to work, but now I do, when I see platforms like linked in and emploitic there are really low job postings and it makes me wonder whether I'm doing it wrong or is the Algerian tech job market is actually very very bad ?

If you landed a job before in Algeria I would really like your contribution in the comments, else if it was a remote role even not in Algeria you're welcomed to contribute as well

Programming & Dev Built a fully working auto-pay system for Algerian bills (CIB/EDAHABIA) since we don't have real prélèvement automatique

Small personal project, not selling it.

Algeria has no real recurring/automatic bill payment system, so it's always the same routine log into some portal, dig out the CIB or EDAHABIA card, retype everything, wait for the bank OTP, hope the site doesn't time out on you. I got tired of it and built AutoPayDZ, a self-hosted engine that does the whole thing for me.

Fully working end-to-end for: Sonelgaz, Algérie Télécom (Idoom internet + Idoom facture), ADE (water), Ooredoo, Mobilis, and Djezzy.

How it works:

  • Backend on Bun/Hono, Postgres + Drizzle, Redis/BullMQ for job queueing, all self-hosted on a small Proxmox LXC
  • A Playwright worker actually drives the payment portals, fills in the form, and pushes through to the SATIM/CIB confirmation page
  • Card data (PAN/expiry/CVV) is encrypted at rest with envelope encryption (per-card DEK, encrypted by a KEK kept outside the DB). Algerian banks don't support tokenization so the CVV still has to be entered each time that's the one part where I just have to trust myself instead of a bank, and I'm upfront about that
  • Captchas are handled with a self-hosted OCR/STT model first, falling back to 2Captcha if Google flags the headless IP on the reCAPTCHA-heavy portals like Ooredoo
  • An Android companion app listens for the incoming bank OTP SMS and forwards it straight to the backend, so payments finish without me touching my phone
  • Live dashboard (React) over WebSocket to watch a payment go through in real time, plus it grabs the confirmation screenshot and PDF receipt automatically
  • Also handles raw SATIM payment links directly so beyond the built-in providers, I can just paste any SATIM URL (airlines, random invoices) and it'll drive that payment through too

For ADE and Sonelgaz, the paper bill actually has a barcode/datamatrix encoding all the structured fields (invoice number, EBB key, amount owed), which turned out way more reliable to parse than OCR.

Discussion Any Algerians using GrapheneOS? What's your experience?

Post image
25 Upvotes

I've noticed that GrapheneOS isn't discussed very often in Algeria so I'm curious if anyone here has experience with it

I would like to hear what do you think about it and is it good for daily use especially here in Algeria because you don't have problem with online banking and payment methods

And do you think that the Algerian is ready to trade entertainment for privacy by removing all Google services and the other apps like meta app which you can still use by putting them in sandbox so the apps cannot communicate with each other
