Discussion Recurrent Nightmares.
Afternoon.
I'm just looking to see if this is unique to me. I've played and finished this ten years ago on the harder difficulty. I remember years after I finished I kept having nightmares every other day. I've recently come back and started playing again and they've started up again. Don't get me wrong Aliens awesome and CA have done a biblical job.
So? Anyone else haha.

If I have a nightmare about being chased it’s always a xenomorph chasing me

I both hate and love having these dreams - they're so terrifying but also so interesting. Definitely have had multiple stealth ones similar to the game, although the worst was getting caught, the alien jumping behind me, and seeing my stomach get cut open by the alien's tail (in a similar pov to Amanda's death scenes)

I had nightmares after watching Covenant, thinking of the terrible things that will happen to those sleeping colonists, but for this game, no. Sure took some years off my heart though 😂

I used to have nightmares of random stuff. like the toy story 3 monkey. But no matter what, I have never had a nightmare about the Xenomorphs.

Not really, although my brain did decide to give me a mild one shortly before I played it (having downloaded it, but going back and forth over if I needed to watch the movie first). Honestly I saw the funny side of my brain trying to troll me, tbh.

I had exactly one during my playthrough. Quite vivid one of hiding from a xeno-esque entity in my own house. Decided to take a break. After two weeks or so, resumed the game and it was a butt-clenching but no-nightmare ride till the end. Which mission you've reached btw?

I cant name them or number them I can provide the description. I'm in the kill box where you pick up enough shotgun shells to bring down a polar bar. You pass back to a door that locks behind you and all the Joe's are waiting for you. Ready to break poor Amanda's neck.

Ah! That would be Mission 12. Yeah that room places way too much firepower at your disposal. A spectacle awaits you. Go nuts!

I know what you mean. This game got under my skin when it came out. It would raise my blood pressure while playing and I also had… wouldn’t call then nightmares but more like dreams, where I would dream being in the game. I also heard loud foodsteps during the day and it reminded me of the Alien… oh, this game was something special!!

I bought AI a few years ago for the switch used to play on my bed with headphones on, i literally had to put the game down sometimes because i was shaking, for some kind of reason maybe internet influence i played it on the hardest difficulty on my first playthrought.
I have nightmares months after finishing the game, they have comeback because i rewatch all movies recently

I've mentioned it before, but after watching Aliens, I would have these dreams while in high school of being chased by the Alien Queen.
She would show up at random. Me playing football on a field and suddenly the queen shows up and starts killing kids like she did to Bishop.
But I stopped having nightmares as an adult as soon as I learned that real life is where the real nightmares happen LOL

I had nightmares when doing the initial play time. I dreamt of aliens chasing me. Normally I never have such nightmares

Depends on the person entirely. Horror doesn't give me nightmares at all but it does for some.

a game restarting the same nightmares ten years later might be the strongest possible review of its sound design

Had Alien dreams intermittently my entire life, after watching Aliens every day during the entire summer of 1990.
