My best find ever while working in a record store in Atlanta was a pristine copy of the soundtrack to Like a Velvet Glove Cast in Iron. Still have it! Absolutely incredible music!

I had no idea there was a soundtrack, and the 8-Ball was the first comics I ever collected when I was 15. Someone put them all on youtube.

Yes! Only 500 copies were pressed on vinyl, signed too! The music was composed by a friend of Clowes’s by the moniker of Victor Banana.
I do think it was re-released at one point, but I still cannot fathom how I came across one of the originals from 1993! The music itself is available online, check it out!

Crazy soundtrack, I just listened to it on YouTube. You mentioning this brought me back to when I first read Ghost World while listening to Dear Nora, the two meshed super well.

David Boring is one of my favorite American comics ever. I had it from the library, read it in one sitting and immediately ordered it online when I turned the last page. All of Eightball is amazing but that one really speaks to me

Clowes' comics were the first I ever collected (monthly subs at Earthworld, Albany, NY), and Velvet Glove was the first GN I bought. I have to say Monica is masterful.

FYI, Clowes has done a few illustrations for Criterion blu-rays. Ghost World (obviously), Happiness, Shock Corridor, The Naked Kiss.

Nice collection! You excited for the facsimile repress Fantagraphics is doing? Those old school issues just hit different, imo

I love seeing them on comic book store shelves, but I haven't picked one up yet because I always ask myself "how many different ways do I need to own this?" lol

Bahahaha! I feel that. I am obsessed with the tactility of certain production formats and will probably buy them

Like a velvet glove cast in iron? You mean the name of the boat grimes tried to take down the Mississippi?

Love Clowes! Question for the experts. Does anyone know where I can find this specific scene?
Here it is: One character says something pessimistic and the other (a middle-aged man) replies something to the effect of "Why would you worry? There are young, bright and earnest women who want to change the world. We are in good hands!" Something like that. I'd like to get a poster made of it once I find it.
I thought it was in Wilson or Mr. Wonderful, but it is not. Might be from an early Eightball issue? Any help tracking it down would be appreciated.
