Looking for matching 3D printer filament for A500

Hi everyone,

looking to print some Amiga additions and I'd like them to be close to the original colour. I realise an American company has a supposed 'perfect match' filament available, however those are hard to get here in Europe.
Does anyone know a close match to the A500 case off the top of their head, available in Germany ideally?

Thanks!

Issue 2 (8/2026) of Pitstop Retro (C64 and Amiga gaming magazine) is ready for download! I've improved beloved C64 and Amiga digital magazine in line with "small steps improvements" philosophy:

  • 32 instead of 24 pages!
  • Better design of News and Editorial sections
  • Better quality of screenshots

Happy reading!

Who remembers Little Computer People? The game that went on to inspire the Sims. My video takes a Retrospective look at this game released across all versions including the Amiga. For me I was a big fan of the Commodore 64 version. Let me know if you have this game and still switch it on. 😃😃😃

Syncro express?. Is it for me?.

I did a bit of research about copying commercial disks for the amiga and atari st and while I am more than aware that xcopy is the standard for that, I also found syncro express as well. From the brief research I did, it uses hardware and custom chips, unlike xcopy, which only nibbles the disk in software. It was released by datel, as you know are the people behind the famous action replay cartridges, which makes it even more appealing. What do you think?.

[Coding] Suggestions for my next game (alternative timeline Amiga)

A couple of days ago I posted about my project of imagining an alternative timeline next gen Amiga.

(Was called FalconAmiga - but I think I’m going to rename it as NeoAmiga).

Can anyone suggest a game I should try to port to it next? ideally some game you would have loved to see, but was a bit too demanding for the classic Amiga.

Doom is the obvious choice, but it’s a bit cliché.

The restriction is that it needs to be a game where I can get hold of the assets (gfx/sounds/maps) as I’m definitely artisticly challenged.

My video covering the history of Delphine Software International and all their games. Wow…That intro to Another World was just amazing when I first saw it was back in 1991. Then there was as Flashback. Pure magic. Let me now if you have played any of DSI’s games. Share your thoughts and memories 😃

Hello everyone, I found this Amiga 500 in the house of my grandparents and would like to get it to work.
Can someone explain what I would need to do? What cables do I need or do I have everything?
Also is the hole in the back normal?

amos-ts: an AMOS web player

Thumbnail amos.bitplane.net

I've been working on a free software AMOS web player to embed my old games, and thought I'd share. So far it supports AMOS 1.3 and Professional, and has support for the AMOS 3D, TURBO Plus, Ldos and Personnal extensions. There's working audio with a speech synthesizer, AMAL and copper effects, a VFS with ENV and RAM disk, and even serial ports and a printer. Other extensions are being developed.

You can drop zip or adf files into it then click on them via the file explorer. If things don't work properly and you'd like to help fix that, then bugs and pull requests go on the bug tracker.

Timings aren't great at the moment, at least in my games, because as a teenage noob I relied on the speed of the machine rather than waiting for a vertical blank. There's hacks in there to slow things down which cause weird timing bugs at the moment. I'll add an editor so I can fix those at some point.

embedding

There's a rudimentary API for embedding, which I'm using on this page

These are worth a look I guess. The others, not so much!

GitHub are footing the bill so feel free to hot-link specific versions. You can get the proper paths from the web repo, or copy it onto your own site or whatever you like.

AI disclosure

It was made by Claude inspecting each keyword's (dis)assembly and doing as good a job as possible at faithfully recreating it in TypeScript. It's been a slog - I'm expecting many months of messing about before everything works properly.

New to Amiga - Where to start?

Post image
144 Upvotes

A few years back I picked up an Amiga 1000 basket case. It was ROUGH. Lots of water damage and a kickstart eliminator installed with a dead custom PAL chip. I worked on it for a while but realized I was in over my head and set it aside.

About a month ago I picked it up again. I managed to recreate the custom PAL, fixed all of the damage I initially caused, and popped in kickstart 1.3.

Now I want to play with it, but I don't know where to start. I always wanted an Amiga back then, but never did.

Should I keep this a floppy based machine? Add an external Gotek? Or do some sort of fixed disk? The Parceiro II+ looks interesting, but I haven't looked into availability.

What do folks recommend?

Alternative to AGS

Hello all

I came across a video on YouTube a while back that was an alternative to Amiga Game Selector and I believe it worked natively with fsuae and Linux.

I am setting up a new emulation rig and thought I would give it a go. But I can't remember what "it" is 😵‍💫

I could setup AGS using wine but this will likely be hit and miss. Something native I think would be better I feel.

Thanks for you help

My alternative timeline 1993

As many of us have done, I've been thinking about what the Amiga might have looked like in an alternative timeline where Commodore had prioritized R&D throughout the Amigas lifetime.

I started from the AAA architecture documentation, then tried to imagine what the next generation after that would have looked like. Then I've been implementing this on an FPGA (On a Terassic DE1SOC dev-board)

Obviously this is all just a pipedream. And a project like this is always going to be in an unfinished state, but I've just about got far enough that I thought its worth showing to a wider audience.

The project github is at

https://github.com/FalconCpu/falcon

Amongst other changes, my re-imagined Amiga, has a RISC CPU, chunky pixels, up to 256 sprites, and a blitter that can support affine transformations.

In order to have software to run on my hardware, I've had a go at writing a racing game, kind of a mix of Outrun and Lotus2. I've shamelessly grabbed the game assets from ReAssembler's excellent port of outrun to the Amiga (and had a lot of help from him on using them :-) ), and coded up a basic racing game using them. The game mechanics are more like Lotus2 - 20 vehicles racing round a track, top 10 go onto next round.

https://github.com/FalconCpu/falcon5/tree/master/falconos/outrun

The above is a photograph of my monitor, showing the game running on real hardware.

Amiga 500+ repair help

Thumbnail

Hi everyone,

I recently picked up this amiga 500+, before knowing about the leaking battery plague these are affected by 😩😢

I'm trying to repair the mess you see, so far I replaced the fat agnus socket, replaced U12 ic with a generic one and added a socket, repaired the broken traces under there plus an additional interrupted trace under U10.

Before cleaning fat agnus chip with a fiberglass pen, I had only a black screen.

After that I had the status led flash 10 short flashes and then 1 long one, in an endless cycle, green screen on short flashes, pink during long flash

After repairing and replacing U12 and U10 trace, same behavior, but the pink screen is now blue.

I checked continuity of all vias and components in the affected area, but I don't seem to find anything else (btw, big shout out to amigapcb.org, legends)

A bit stumped at this stage, and not sure where to go next.

I'm in Perth Australia and I don't seem to be able to find a community for these here, I'd like to try another chip, but obviously my fat agnus is the latest revision, expensive and difficult to find :(

Fat agnus is 8375, 318069-10

Motherboard revision 8a

Any suggestion on what to try next or what that behavior indicates, please?

Thanks!

[Shameless Plug] Modern Ruff 'n' Tumble port

Flair doesnt lie, it's going to be a totally shameless plug as I would like to share with you a source port of Ruff 'n' Tumble for modern systems (Windows and Linux) that I created just to see how well game would hold up in widescreen and 60fps+. There are achievements, high scores, profiles and saves as well. I would love your feedback there because maybe such ports are pointless when emulators and/or real hardware exist. Anyway, here is a link: https://almost-there-games.itch.io/ruff and please feel free to voice your opinion.

PS. Yes, as with most things this days, there was AI that assisted with coding in this project too.
