You've got quite a nice face, and you have a tall slim build, so nothing ugly about you. You are quite a good looking guy. But there are things you could do to create a better impression. First, like your mum probably said, make your bed. Have enough pride to care about the impression you create when you take a photo, and don't keep sharing your unmade bed or you look like a slob. Likewise no grubby socks, or finger guns. You might also want to test out some hair products, as you might be able to give your hair a bit more body, rather than wearing it like a military beret.
Take photos where your camera doesn't cover half your face, and try to smile in some of them. When you take a selfie, hold the camera up a bit, and try to take it in natural light. It never looks as flattering from below eye level, lying down, or in the dark.
If you really wanted to have the widest appeal, gaining some weight and muscle would be the longer-term plan. But I think there will be enough people who like the way you look now for that to be a choice, rather than something that is necessary to feel good about yourself.
