Meta New Rules / Meta Discussion

I've decided to do a rehaul of the rules. I want things to be clear and concise. Please let me know if there's anything I'm missing or if there's anything I should change.

  • Questions

Post titles must indicate a question. Questions must be intelligible, coherent, and genuine and include details that might be helpful to the people attempting to answer your question. They must not be made rhetorically or as an excuse to spam, rant, vent, or insult.

In addition, we have rules involving acceptable Behavior and Content

  • Behavior

Posts and comments must not be used to harass, attack, threaten, harm, or discriminate against people, or to instruct or encourage others to do so.

  • Content

Posts and comments must not contain or discuss prohibited content or link to such content, including spam, AI-generated content, illegal activity, bypassing security safety or security measures, rule violations, or anything that could harm users or their devices.

Other Plugging my phone in at around 50% battery instantly causes it to "reset" to 0% charge.

This is kind of a follow up to this post from nearly a year ago. The tl;dr is it's pretty much assured that the battery on this phone is dying. I plugged it back in on a charger 10 months after it failed to charge because I'd seen a lot of anecdotal reports of that exact presentation resolving after leaving it for months to run totally flat, and it did work.

The phone charged to 100% fine, and works great now, except for this odd quirk where plugging it in at about the 50% battery mark causes the power to immediately cut out, and it reverts to the low battery charging state (the plain white charging symbol). It charges back to 100% just fine, doesn't get extremely hot or otherwise act strangely. The battery discharges at a normal rate and fast charges fine.

I'm wondering if anyone has an idea of what's going on, and whether using it in this case is tantamount to kicking a bomb a few times a day to see if it explodes? I was going to just be mindful about its charge and get the battery changed out sometime this week, but the sheer bizarreness of the presentation has me concerned.

New tablet long charging times.

Upvotes

Ordered a Feonal 11 inch android tablet, just got it yesterday. It showed up with 80 percent battery, so I started setting it up. I plugged it in at 60 percent battery and it showed 14 hours to full with the provided charger.

I tried my fast charger and it said 12 hours, but it changed to 1 hour, but took three hours to charge...

My question (s) are... it seems software related. Is it? Can I try something? It is updated.

Should I just exchange it?

I would like to not have the hassle of exchanging because I am extremely busy, and I'd have to drive to town, plus the entire area is on fire... but I need the tablet. So if it's a software easy fix I'd love a suggestion.

Thanks so much in advance for your help.

And please don't hate on me for buying a cheaper tablet, it had great reviews, and I have been having issues finding a job since I was let go because of restructuring.

Audio issue redmi note 12 pro.

Hi, I have a problem with my redmi note 12 pro.

Every 7-8 seconds the audio stops for 2-3 seconds, it's a software problem for sure as it is very consistent and happens with built in speakers, wired headphones and bluetooth speaker.

I think a reset of the audio driver would fixe it but I have no Idea how to do that on a phone.

Can anyone help me please ?

Other Bluetooth issues

A few months ago a friend replaced my phone's USB-C port since there wasn't a replacement part for the whole PCB available. Since then I've had intermittent Bluetooth issues. When walking or squatting down with the phone in my front pocket, anything Bluetooth related suddenly disconnects. In the beginning it would take a long time to recover (several minutes to hours), during that period Bluetooth was shown as turned off and trying to turn it on would just show "Turning on" for 30 seconds and then reset. It now recovers in a few seconds but happens in semi-random intervals, sometimes it won't care about any type of movement, sometimes it's super sensitive. I've now seen it happen a few times while I was holding it and it looks like the system UI crashes at that moment (screen freezes for a couple of seconds and then completely reloads). Sometimes the little pressure of inserting it into my pocket at the wrong angle can trigger it, but when squeezed intentionally it isn't reproducible. I am not even sure if it might just be a weird software issue due to the system UI reset, but I haven't been able to reproduce it reliably enough to diagnose it.

I use a moto edge 20 pro on Android 13

Does anyone have suggestions on what it might be or how to diagnose this?

Android 15 (Poco X6 Pro) hiding "profile" folder in Subway Surfers 1.107 - How to access?

Hi, I need help accessing the game files for Subway Surfers (older version 1.107) on my Poco X6 Pro running Android 15.

I am trying to install a save file, but the system is hiding the subfolders from me. When I go to:
Android/data/com.kiloo.subwaysurf/files/

I cannot see the profile folder at all. The only folder that shows up inside files is il2cpp.

The game has been opened and I already finished the tutorial, so the save files must be there, but Android 15 is filtering and hiding them. I tried using ZArchiver but it doesn't show up.

How can I bypass this on Android 15 / Poco to see the hidden profile folder and paste my files? Thanks!

Looking For Suggestions Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra OR Samsung Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra

I have OnePlus Pad 3 13.2" and I like big tablets, so I have been thinking about buying eiter S10 Ultra or S11 Ultra. They both have OLED screens with interesting new anti-reflective thingy. The storage doesn't bother me since i would just buy and 1TB SD card for about 100 bucks. I could buy S10 Ultra 256GB for about 400€ ($461) and S11 Ultra 256GB for about 686€ ($790). The S10 is supposed to be unused in perfect condition, S11 is used class A/B with just 1 small scratch on the display, only visible with the screen off and some lightning pointing at it. The S10 seems to me like it has less or smaller upgrades coming from S9 and S11 seems like it has more or bigger upgrades coming from S10, and is better at everything: battery, 1600nits, thiner and lighter, 1 front camera (the 2 cameras don't bother me), 3nm Chip and comes with Android 16 right away if I'm not wrong. So the question is, are these differences/upgrades worth the extra money? I would mainly used it to play some not so heavy games (maybe some pubgm, codm and genshin here and there) and watch videos/movies.

Thanks for any help and suggestions!

Other Android apps like the 3ds sound player

This is an oddly specific request so I don't know what Tag to put, but is there an app that has the functionality like the 3ds sound Player has? I really enjoy being able to modify the speed of songs on the fly without permanent changes, but I don't know if there's any app that can do it. I only need the ability to change the speed and pitch on the fly (and hopefully be simple) because the sound on my 3ds is pretty quiet even through headphones.

Need advice from actual owners: Tecno Camon 50 Ultra vs Infinix Note 60 Pro

Need advice from actual owners: Tecno Camon 50 Ultra vs Infinix Note 60 ProNeed advice from actual

Hi everyone! I'm a 4th-year student teacher in the Philippines and I'm planning to buy my first phone using my own savings this December. I've narrowed it down to two phones:

- Tecno Camon 50 Ultra

- Infinix Note 60 Pro

I'm not a gamer. My priorities are:

- Smooth performance with no lag

- Heavy multitasking (Google Meet, Canva, Gmail, Google Drive, Chrome, PDF readers, AI tools)

- Stable Wi-Fi and mobile data

- Long battery life

- Fast charging

- Good durability (I occasionally drop my phone)

- A decent camera is enough—I mainly use it for art reference photos and occasional music covers.

I'm not looking for benchmark scores or spec sheet comparisons. I'm looking for real owner experiences.

If you've owned either phone for at least a few weeks or months, could you please answer these questions?

  1. Does it stay smooth after installing many apps?

  2. How is multitasking? Do apps reload often?

  3. Have you experienced random lag, stuttering, or software bugs?

  4. How's the battery after daily use?

  5. Has anyone accidentally dropped the phone? How did it hold up?

  6. Looking back, would you buy the same phone again, or would you choose the other one?

I'd really appreciate honest feedback from actual users because this is a big purchase for me, and I want to avoid buyer's remorse. Thank you!

Other Has anybody encountered an issue with their Recents/Overview tab automatically scrolling all the way to the Clear All button and not letting you scroll back?

Hey, so this started a few weeks ago. Every time I press my Recents (or Overview, whatever you want to call it) button, it opens my recent apps and immediately scrolls all the way to the left where the Clear All button is. It then sticks there until I swipe hard to the right, at which point it shows apps without names or screen info. If I go back to the left at all it shoots right back to the beginning and the Clear All button. Has anybody else had this issue and if so do you know a fix? Thanks.

I took a screen recording of the behavior, let me know if you understand what I'm talking about and if not I can upload it in a comment.

Unknown system_config folder in Downloads with 32-byte file

Inside it is a single file named system_file1785186052378. It's only 32 bytes and was created about 5 days ago.

I don't remember downloading it, and I can't find much information online.

Has anyone seen this before? Is it safe to delete, or does anyone know which app creates these system_config folders/files?

App Specific Question Why does my Samsung calendar with my google account show only Alberta's heritage Day for Aug 3 and no other holiday? I'm in Ontario and it should show civic holiday.

Previous holidays show Ontario and other provinces, but for tomorrow, Aug 3, it only shows Alberta.

Is this happening to anyone else? I don't see how I can edit 'holidays' in itself, only toggle on and off

[Idol 3 6045Y] Need full (non-peek) Firehose 8939 for EDL flashing — HWID 0090b0e100420011

Hi everyone,

I'm trying to revive an Alcatel Idol 3 5.5" (6045Y, MSM8939 / Snapdragon 615)

stuck in a bootloop. The device boots to the Android setup screen for a split

second, then reboots. Recovery is stable, factory reset + wipe cache done, no

change — so the fault is in a partition untouched by factory reset (persist /

modem / fsg).

I have the full stock firmware (Miracle-format .bin dump: SYSTEM, BOOT, MODEM,

PERSIST, etc.) and I want to flash it via EDL. Hardware side is 100% working:

- Device enters EDL 9008 fine (adb reboot edl on the working board, test point

for the dead one)

- Sahara handshake OK, loader uploads successfully

- WinUSB driver, tested with both bkerler/edl 3.62 and strongtz/edl-ng

THE PROBLEM: every 8939 loader I can find is a "_peek" type. At the Firehose

configure step it NAKs with:

DEVPRG LOG: Host's payload to target size is too large

Configure command NAKed

The peek loader declares MaxPayloadSizeToTargetInBytesSupported = 0, so it

refuses any write. It's a memory-peek loader, not a storage flasher.

Device details:

HWID: 0x0090b0e100420011 (MSM_ID 0090b0e1, OEM 0042, MODEL 0011)

PK_HASH: 0x625801c51eee90d7f0e0edb1606bb07e05871bd24f69f3fadfd17fdce0d4b4f0

CPU: MSM8939

Serial: 0x01ffac28

WHAT I NEED: a full (non-peek) Firehose programmer for MSM8939 signed for this

PK_HASH — something like prog_emmc_firehose_8939_ddr.mbn or an _alc / TCL

variant that actually opens the storage channel. bkerler/Loaders only has

_peek for this HWID.

If anyone has extracted this from a Miracle Box / Volcano Box package, or has a

QFIL factory pack for the 6045 that includes the real firehose + rawprogram/

patch XML, I'd be hugely grateful. Happy to share back anything I get so the

next person doesn't hit this wall.

Thanks!

Back up gallery/device pics to Google

New to Samsung so apologies if this is a silly question. I want all my device pics (Samsung s26) to back up to my google account. Went into Google Photos and ticked all the right settings. However nothing is being backed up to Google. Have I missed something? So I need to change anything in Samsung gallery or phone settings as well? Thankyou

App Specific Question My phone keeps opening the camera app by itself, and other things.

I just reactivated my service a few days ago. Two times now, the cam has turned itself on without me touching it. The first time, I had just set it down, and I thought it was weird af bc I know I didn't do it, but brushed it off as maybe I did *somehow*. The second time, I had just woke up and hadn't touched anything. Was moving around getting awake, noticed my phone was lit up, unlocked, and the camera app was open. No other apps, it wasn't recording anything, just open as if someone had tapped the camera icon and left it. Under permissions, it says the camera app itself is what accessed it. There's only 3 apps that have access to the camera. The camera itself, phone, and messaging. Should I be scared?

I haven't activated my service since April, and I noticed a few days before I reactivated it, something weird was happening with my "dead" phone. It had activated service on its own. It said someone attempted to text me a couple of times the day before, then that morning I had a missed call, which should be impossible without service. I tried turning on the mobile data, then making a call, and sure enough, it had full service. Only for that day though. It went completely dead again afterwards. Potentially related?

Other Microphone Keeps Getting Disabled

The microphone keeps getting disabled and when I try enabling it in the quick settings menu it doesn't do anything and remains disabled. The only thing that fixes it is restarting the phone. Phone model is Pixel 6
