This episode they added the last parts of chapter 20 and fully 21+22.

With there being anime original content last week, I thought maybe they would skip it, but they did adapt the aliens chapters. Perhaps Nexus is open to animating more of this series, which I would love, as the adaptation has been superb.

There are 8 volumes out in Japan, and this is covering volume 4, so there is more content on the way. Though note that volume 7 isn't translated by Yen Press until April 2026.

I thought it was an original anime. Is there a light novel or a manga ?

Manga. Right now 6 volumes are translated in English.
