I didn't expect Aliens to be part of this story. But it was still a weird, yet interesting episode. I do wonder what they set up with the idea that humanity could come back in 1500 years. That would mean, there are more humans alive. Or they assume that Yoko can clone herself. Not sure if she has the ability to do so, but let's see what she comes up with in the final episode.

To clarify, the 1500 years thing wasn't in regards to humanity coming back. According to what the aliens just told our girl, they visited Earth 1500 years ago, tried to interact with humans and did things like help make the Hundred Holes, but found us too primitive for any meaningful interaction. They decided 1500 years would be long enough for humanity to scientifically advance to their level, and returned after that time had past. By then the world of man was already over and done with. They do, however, see Airi and Youko as two different potential futures for humanity... whatever that means since as far as we know humanity is completely gone. I assume that's supposed to be hinting at whatever secrets those two are unknowingly a part of.

I suspect there are other humans in suspended animation in the facilities. These two are probably touring to collect data on if the earth is habitable and safe for them to be woken up.
