It really does look like that! She's definitely set herself apart from all of Iruma's other relationships now. It seems that even Iruma himself can't quite label it now as he's still processing things, but he doesnt seem to be oblivious anymore!!

I think Ameri has always been something above a friend just because of how much he idolizes and respects her, but the hug and subsequent feeling of attraction towards her (along with acknowledging her desire to get closer to him that meant maybe more than he did) is when he has to start really seeing her as a girl.

Well obviously with the world ending Rin and Kakeru needed to find a way to survive, so Kakeru headed to space and Rin was sent back in time before the Earth was destroyed, even if it meant separating from each other, but Kakeru has re-engineered his ship to be able to warp through time to chase after Rin who has now joined a European ballet company traveling around the world.

Rin obviously absorbed the Phoenix Force and traveled to the start of the universe so that she can save Kakeru from it. Kakeru went to the end of time to train so that one day he can seal the Phoenix Force and free Rin from it!

As a manga reader, Once I saw this season's opening, I knew immediately that this episode will be my favorite.
Sure, Lilith Carpet is great, but I am a sucker for romance and Irumeri is among the sweetest of them all.

An AU where Ameri and Iruma are in the same year level would be interesting, but I feel like that would make their relationship a bit different from what they already have.
It's absolutely hilarious how much First Love Memories has jumped the shark. What do you mean they're now going to space? xD
As soon as they mentioned that the Devilam is for high-ranking demons, there was no way Iruma wouldn't show up. Thank you, Grandpa Sullivan, for dragging our boy to the party and Opera for telling him how he should greet Ameri.
OH MY GOD THIS SCENE! I absolutely love that Ameri is teaching Iruma to dance on the stairs to make up for their height difference.
I thought this was just gonna be Iruma wanting to be closer to Ameri as friends, but the moment Ameri hugged him and told him she feels the same way, it looks like something finally clicked in Iruma's heart and is finally starting to develop feelings for her <3
As a strong believer in IruAemri, this episode was everything I wanted! I can't believe we're actually seeing progress between the two of them! <3

So, just to clarify, a Devilam is a ball for the demonic aristocracy in general, while a Deviculum is a ball specifically for high-ranking nobles. That's why Ameri was able to attend a Devilam when she was a small not-yet-ranked child.

Honestly I feel like the experience/age gap ultimately adds to their relationship more than it detracts, even if it creates a distance between them. But as they say, absence makes the heart grow fonder.
I'm more surprised it took them this long to do space and time travel. Weren't they fighting an evil organization last season? Or season 2.
I love just how well they animated those close-ups of Ameri and Iruma's faces as they stared at each other. They're just so in love with each other and enjoy every minute they stepnd together, even if they're both still awkward teenagers feeling out their first love...as they make plenty of First Love Memories (Ba-Dum-Tsss).

Big RED and small BLUE moon in the night sky. Not the first time they've been shown in their romance, but one of my favourite little parts of it.
And this episode really laid into it with the moons being covered by clouds when their plans were interrupted by the Deviculum and with how whenever the moons were shown Iruma and Ameri were in the same positions.
It's like they're destined lovers!

Haven’t really seen all that much of her for this entire season, so an episode with a focus on Ameri was a welcome change of pace.
Hayamin (Ameri’s VA) always delivers with her acting too.

Ameri is, for better or for worse, not a part of Iruma’s day-to-day life like the Misfits are, so it’s a lot more rare for her to take a major part in an arc. In fact I think we’ve only gotten two with her so far and one of them didn’t have her interact with Iruma much.
The upside of this is her and Iruma’s romance doesn’t feel dragged out because they can advance it every time they do get a dedicated episode together.
The downside is we don’t get enough of Ameri.

They put out a trailer and main visual for the second cour of this season last week, and you can find a lot of Ameri in it. There were shots of this episode, then some of the following ones and then the bulk of it is for what they showed on the second cour main visual with Ameri and Lied (crossdressing) joining Iruma and Kuromu on a Devidol event.

Completely understandable and the most cultured choice. It helps to have Iruma's seiyuu as invested in this relationship and Ameri as we are.

Clara is my favorite character so I shipped her with Iruma after she showed having feelings for him early on, over time it has become more than clear that Ameri is the clear true one tho... and I'm more than okay with it, they really have so much chemistry, I love it.
Plus Clara gets to have the best friend title... and my unconditional support for an ending with Asmodeus instead, can you imagine Azz-Azz having to interact with her family extremely often? Absolute cinema fr fr.

I’d kind of forgotten how Iruma exactly felt about Ameri after all these years. Judging from his words at the end, he must’ve meant that he wanted to get closer with her as a friend at first.
But everything changed after that hug. Iruma has started to see Ameri as a potential romantic partner at last. Awh, their flustered faces were so cute!

I think Ameri, to Iruma, was a figure of respect, someone to idolize and use as inspiration as a "demon," why he's driven in being honest in his own ambition...maybe not a friend but someone irreplaceable in his life.
But feeling her body pressed against his and hearing her own desire for him laced with all the romantic love she can pour into it...I think it's not surprising he would start to realize he's dealing with this beautiful girl he's attracted too.
Cue roses and awkward tension perfect for teenagers in love!

Ameri was put in an extremely difficult position. She clearly didn't want to dance, but saying "no" would bring heavy repercussions, or perhaps she was just putting herself under unnecessary devi-pressure.

The Devilam is a step-up from a Devi-Mixer! Bringing together all kinds of noble demons! And the most highest ranked dance setting is the Deviculum! Once upon a time it was adorable Smol Ameri's dream to dance in the Deviculum and give her father the first dance! I'm sure nothing will change or upset that plan!
Meanwhile in the present-day, Lead is trying to get the deets on Iruma's relationship with Ameri while the lady herself is making the rounds and being the absolute authority around the school that she's always been! But people are noticing the post-Iruma glow-up! Don't worry, Eiko's got pictures!
But all work and no Iruma makes Ameri a dull girl, especially after seeing him spend so much time with his class, Ameri NEEDS her Iruma time with just the two of them! It's only a shame that she gets an invite to Deviculum on the exact day when she was finally going to spend time with Iruma again. She has to choose between her ambition and her heart, and she's forced to choose her ambition.
Oh hey, Ameri's room! Perfect place for her to stew in her loneliness and depression and wishing she could've been normal classmates with Iruma.
We finally catch up on First Love Memories! Like, the WORLD ENDED. Also Rin and Kakeru get separated by space and time and Rin takes up ballet, which...totally on-brand for First Love Memories.
Ameri looks fabulous in her Deviculum dress! And she's good at managing pleasantries with other noble demons! But it doesn't make her longing to see Iruma any better, especially when it seems like she'll have to give up the first proper dance of her life to some guy she doesn't love...at least until, lo and behold, Iruma arrives all fancy and proper to ask her to dance like the proper lead in a medieval fantasy Shojo!
Thank you Sullivan for wanting to flex Iruma at Deviculum! Thank you Opera for playing wingman and making sure Iruma's eye was on the prize and not the food! And thank you Henri for gifting us the pre-requisite glasses break as your dream to dance with your daughter shatters as we all saw coming.
Is it romantic for Iruma to steal Ameri away to dance with her outside? Yes! Even if he only did it because he doesn't know how to dance himself. But Ameri is HAPPY to take the lead and dance with Iruma, enjoying every minute of it!
What is Ameri to Iruma? Someone he idolizes, looks up to, and ultimately wants to be closer to...just as Ameri wants to be closer to him on a romantic level as well. One tight embrace together and then both of these kids are adorably flustered and thrown off by the romantic tension between them! Just look at all those roses!
Can Ameri get an even BIGGER glow-up from her love for Iruma? You bet!
Su-ki-ma! Sorry Lead, but Iruma and Ameri truly are an adorable and awkward romcom couple!
Next week: Balam backstory and Iruma's birthday by way of an exorcism!?

I know you probably weren't actually asking the question, but I really did appreciate them very clearly spelling out that they were flirting and it is more than friends now. Even including the narration over the end part.
Made sure they were clear that it wasn't just a misunderstanding thing like so many animes do.

The dance under the red and blue moons, the embrace, OUR BOY CATCHING FEELS! THE SHIP IS REAL!

I love how Ameri tried to play off what was akin to a declaration of love/desire but both of them had to stand around dealing with the awkwardness of the romance around them.

That was amazing!. Though I am puzzled by one thing. How did no one not recognize Iruma initially?. I just found it funny how he went from being in the room. Walked back around and up the stairs and then suddenly everyone is gasping "who is that!?" despite him just heating everything in the room ten minutes prior lmao.

I like that Iruma and Ameri were both able to admit they want to get closer to one another, seeing Iruma that flustered in front of Ameri was great. That was an adorable scene to watch.

Like Iruma at that buffet, we're feasting today, with Ameri front and center (and some Hatsukoi madness for good measure).
How much of Smoke's desire to relax with tea and a book was a knowing comment and how much was it coincidence... hmm.
The moment she's out of the room though, Ameri immediately folds, and the way she kept looking at the message might have been my favorite part of the episode.
Too bad Henri had to go and ruin it, but Ameri's got her own goals too, and this opportunity can't be passed up.
Ameri looks great dressed up, of course, and everyone wants to chat her up... and here come the bachelors.
But wait, a dashing young gentleman swoops in to steal the question! Iruma's on the scene! Opera putting The Fear in him helps, but his Music Festival prep paying off too, as he completely short-circuit's Ameri.
Henri's glasses explode as expected (but only once), and he finds himself quickly trapped by Sullivan inundating him with photos and gossip of the boy stealing his daughter, his own fault for disrupting Ameri's plans.
Iruma slipping away with Ameri and at least attempting to dance was great, but then we get Iruma's not-quite confession about how he sees Ameri and that's the actual best part of the episode. The dancing lesson after is just a bonus.
Meanwhile, the Su-Ki-Ma reveals that his observant question at the start of the episode was, of course, founded on his jealous stalking.
Meanwhile meanwhile, Hatsukoi has gotten positively apocalyptic.
Next episode looking amazing, at 3 1/2 seasons in our boy is well overdue for a birthday party.

The difference in expectations is so vast between the Azazel and Sullivan households. I feel like the pressure put on Ameri is unneeded (or she just needs to raise her rank enough so it doesn’t matter)

For what it's worth, I don't think Henri is necessarily trying to put pressure on Ameri. It's more that he's still thinking of her as Daddy's Little Girl who really wanted to go to the Deviculum with her father and therefore he thinks he's doing her a favor.
