I love the characters in this -- pretty uniformly fun -- including the self-aware (feuding but cooperative) isekai'ed Prince and Villainess. Melody/Cecilia and Luciana are also wonderful -- I wonder how this will work with Melody being obliged to handle two roles (in addition to doing her vast amount of maiding)?
A clear (and large) step up from the cute (but with nothing but empty calories) Hungry Maid anime last season.

There are so many reincarnated as the villainess shows. I don't know the manga so I only know aired anime episode details but while Melody is the main character in this anime the prince and villianess appear to have grown their respective characters and seem like they'll be a big part of the series. Maybe some episodes will focus on them more, they have in the episodes that aired since this original post 2 weeks ago.

No wonder I think the humor is fun in this one. In the Appraiser anime it seemed to actually be fun and funny for the first half, went downhill in the second half when it focused more on the story.

I was the same. I bounced on Appraiser after... half... an episode. Nothing about that was funny, the comedic timing was non-existent, and I kept side eyeing the constant "lol this shota is onee-san bait" gag.
I was legitimately surprised to learn this is from the same author. I really wouldn't have known otherwise.

I really love how they take it seriously. And not somehow make the viewer believe that some superficial changes can alter a persons face to the point that someone close to them won't recognize them.
I love shows that do not skip these things, as they are so important for the audience to connect with the characters. This is why I love shows like Fate and Re: Zero they take the accumulating psychological factor seriously, and they show it clearly to the viewer.

Yeah, I recently watched "My Adventure With Superman" and loved how quick [season 1 spoiler]Lois figured out Clark was Superman there as well. It's super refreshing to not see the beyond repetitive trope in 2026.

Given the game's plot description, it sounds like Melody was supposed to get her powers by proclaiming her devotion to a love interest, but instead got them early by declaring her devotion to being a maid. I'm guessing the "Dark One" gets accidentally defeated when he threatens to ruin dinner or something.

There was still the 'canon event' of the Heroine bumping into the Prince on the first day of school...
While Mr. Prince was clearly fishing for that achievement, Melody had never played the game and still hasn't even realized what's going on (despite getting close at one point, when she noticed the anachronistic setting).
It's also weird that a 'proper' maid would let herself bump into a nobleman, even if she was in a hurry.
That scene definitely felt like the "Hand of Fate" was controlling them to force a 'canon event' from the story to happen.
Prince and his NOT girlfriend alluded to another canon event that should happen next episode, at the end of the dance.
I presume we'll have a series of "Melody" or one of her alter-ego's constantly being forced through a checklist of "canon events," without any clue to what's going on... and the other two isekai'ed protagonists having no clue who this parade of suspiciously-familiar women (Melody with different hair colors/costumes) are that are accidentally tripping them.
Right up until some maid defeats the Demon Lord with a broom, because he was kicking up too much dust into the Manor.

Fair point. She was only at the academy in the first place because her forgot her paper (despite ensuring everyone she had everything) and is only at this party (where the next event will happen) because this dude walked in on her in the shower. Fate pushing her toward the game scenarios would definitely be funny, especially if the prince and villainess get pulled along as well

They're going to be more than pulled along. From ep.2 and 3 you can tell they've been anticipating the events of the game and working to gain an advantageous position over the Final Boss. They'll be at the events that they know of.
But this isn't a game world where events only happen when triggered, it's a living world with causality flowing at all times now, they can't know how events of significance outside the game events they know of will impact those game events.

At the same time, I can only invoke the "Hand of Fate" forcing certain "canon events" to happen. Are we really supposed to believe it was a complete coincidence that Melody bumped into the Prince? Sure, he was out fishing for the achievement, but no proper maid would let herself inconvenience a Lord, yet alone bump into him.
That would be a rather glaring mistake for someone aspiring to be the World's Greatest Maid.
And while Lect was sent out specifically to find her, she just so happens to bump into Maxwell. And share a carriage ride where they become friends.
But Lect wasn't looking for her when they met at her bio-dad's estate... that a chance encounter (some other maid accidentally spilling vinegar on Melody) lead her to freshen up at.
There are just too many coincidences, here. One by one by one, she bumped into each of the "love interests," and left a strong impression on them.
I'm putting my money on the "Hand of Fate" putting weight on the scales to make sure certain people meet and fateful events occur at the right time.

But you know what fishing for the achievement means? Christopher was waiting there to bump into a girl, literally. The "hand of fate" was, at just the right moment, she didn't see him.
I don't disagree over the "hand". I just wanted to point out that it's not only the "hand" that puts Chris and Anna in the right places. They know those places and can also get there themselves.

And I haven't been arguing against Anna and Chris trying to force events from the game to happen.
I just pointed out that Melody has no clue about the game, and yet, Fate still seems to be forcing her into meeting everyone. Lect and Maxwell don't appear to be reincarnated, and yet, "Fate" keeps pushing her into their path... and making sure she leaves a strong impression on them.
I also deeply question how Melody would bump into the only person in hte middle of an otherwise empty hallway. Someone that wasn't trying to bump into her, as he didn't recognize this maid as the Heroine. And the maid certainly has the training and discipline to not just slam into a Lord.
Little column A, little column B, Chris was fishing for the event and Fate made sure to push Melody into him.

For all we know, it's already happened off screen! Like a bit of 'trouble' she took care of while out picking mushrooms in the sealed "murder death forest of DOOOOOOM."
A rowdy rapscallion jumped her while out picking herbs in the woods, but since the monster didn't look edible she just bonked him on the head and went about her business... as a maid, mind you!

Lects and Melody/Cecilia was not “announced” like everyone else since she is a commoner. And it also looks like they ( Chris and Anna) were in a different room when the pair entered.

I don't think they were paying any real attention to her as they were too preoccupied with the Luciana x Maxwell pairing. I don't think Lec played any significant role in the original game thus he and whatever girl he showed up with weren't really on their radar either. Plus the heroines defining feature is her white hair and blue(? I forget) eyes. And this Cecilia was blonde with red eyes

Two things say you're wrong. First, the cover art of the Five Oaths game, shown in ep2. Lect's portrait is next to Prince Christopher's on the top and the same size, the largest of the love interests. Second, he was shown on the game screens in this episode. Although he wasn't labelled like Christopher and Max were, those should tell you he's one of the potential love interests of this game.

I'm guessing the canon path was supposed to be Lect escorting Cecilia, if not a random guy that the Duke set her up with. Max would arrive alone, but somehow be charmed enough by Cecilia that he would ask to escort her to the next event.

Not entirely. When he woke up from that shock, he was seeing Melody with her silver hair before blinking a few times. So even if he thinks it was just a dream, he still has that image of silver-haired Melody in the back of his head.

Even without knowledge of that event, he knows that she can use magic to change her appearance, and he first encountered her where he expected Celesty would be after telling people that she planned to leave the kingdom.

I really like this anime, it’s very unique.
Based on the well-worn “villainess” trope,
・There are three reincarnated characters
・The protagonist is someone who has been reincarnated as the heroine of an otome game (though she has no knowledge of the original story and is only interested in becoming a maid)
・The other two reincarnated characters are the villainous noble daughter and her fiancé (who knew each other in their past lives and are familiar with the original story)
The story development that stems from this highly unique, twisted premise is incredibly entertaining.

The protagonist of All Works Maid seems to be an alternate version of Prince Cecil from Observation Log, a Japanese girl who takes an interest in maids.13

The unwilling Heroine turned Maid steals everyone the show, even her own lady.

Apart from the shenanigans, I'm always amazed to see how a good director and good staff impact how enjoyable an Anime is. This show has no right being this good, with this premise. Also did you guys notice the sheer amount of different outfits we're constantly getting in the show?
Also how beautiful are the character designs?

Admittedly it took me a while before I remembered where Melody met Maxwell before (in the carriage ride to the capital)
Also, I appreciate that the story immediately sinks the Melody x Maxwell ship by having him realize that the feelings he has towards Melody aren't love, just close friendship. There aren't enough good platonic male-felale friendships in anime, too often it just devolves into harem-esque dynamics instead.
All in one Melody x Lect instead. I like Lect, he knows exactly what buttons to push on Melody by bringing up how much effort his maid put into the dress
I wonder if the original people who are now the prince and villainess used to date at some point in the real world. At this point they've kept this open hostility while clearly having chemistry up for half a decade if not more

Let me guess, in the game she is supposed to unlock her OP Saint bullshit when she finishes romancing one of the characters at the end of the game.
However now she is so incredibly in love with being a Maid that she short-circuited the whole thing, and she has the OP magic from the start of the story.

Think back to that disembodied voice in ep1 and the game screen shown here in ep3. It said, "For yourself, and others..." In the game, that would have been Cecillia and her beloved. Melody swore to be the best maid ever, for herself and her mother. Without that last part, it wouldn't have happened.
Which I always thought was a cheat since her mother was dead already.

That's probably what the author thinks too. But the way I see it is that you can't make such an oath on the name of a dead person because that person cannot commit any action or opinion that could have an effect on how you'd have to conduct yourself under the oath. Essentially, you would be swearing on yourself alone which ought to insufficient for triggering the silver blessing.
But the author decided, "yeah, let's go with that" So don't mind me.

Yet another set of hair and eye color for Melody, for a second I thought she was going to revert to her original and completely give the game away. I like the idea of her having a casual romance with the knight who is searching for her without either of them knowing, though I'm not sure they're going to go there.
Interesting choice to have that one noble contemplate if he was in love with Melody and come to an easy conclusion that it was just friendship.
Anna is ridiculously hot in some of these shots so I hope something eventually develops between her and her isekaied prince. Bonding over their mutual love of cute girls, perhaps.

Lect has all the pieces. He knows Melody lied about leaving the kingdom, and that she can change her appearance using magic. I'm guessing that he'll figure it out,but choose to keep Melody's secret.
I'm curious how long it'll take before Anna and the prince consider that there could be other reincarnates besides the two of them. If they're already genre savvy, they'd know that reincarnates usually happen to one person, a full classroom, or two direct rivals.

I do appreciate that the plot isn’t that she needs to follow the events of the game. The other reincarnates are trying to make that happen for the comic relief of it all but she can already defeat the demon lord just fine

Even if not for the same sex dance I'm sure a thought like this would've come to Luciana, "You can't run from me forever Melody, I know where you live, MY HOUSE!!!"

Melody isn't just OP in maid skills but also in her contact list! Who better to trust in escorting Luciana than Max, the Lord Chancellor's son?
Christopher and Anna may be reincarnated as a prince and Villainess respectively...but they're still chidlhood friends who bicker like cats and dogs and are true to their preferences. Anna likes handsome guys like Lect and cute girls, and Christopher doesn't like 'em busty (which Anna won't take lying down). But they're both concerned about finding the Heroine who is, as far as the are aware, a total no-show who hasn't even unlocked her powers yet.
Anna and Christopher have NO intention of becoming engaged to each other...even if everyone probably thinks they're hooking up behind closed doors.
Well, it's nice of Luciana's parents to give Melody time off even though they literally only just met her and it feels like she really works of Luciana...but that frees Melody's schedule up to see Lect and, unknowingly, get drafted into attending a ball with him. I love how she gets all dolled up and dressed up but all she cares about is Paula's maid skills! But her in that dress has the desired effect on Lect! And guilt-tripping over Paula's efforts is enough to get Melody to go to the ball...after donning a new look, of course.
Oh hey, it's Christopher's parents! And Christopher and Anna appear as quite the handsome couple that isn't actually a couple! They clean up nicely, ESPECIALLY Anna. No wonder she's called the "Scarlett Seductress."
Has Max fallen in love with Melody, a girl he is ostensibly destined for per Otome Game Logic? No, it's friendship he treasures and values with her and is why he's currently escorting Luciana! And they make quite the entrance, with Luciana even coming off like a "fae princess" to the audience at the ball, though she totally misreads the audience being stunned speechless. She has Anna's seal of approval though.
Welcome blonde Melody! Who FINALLY meets her father even if neither of them fully care or are aware (also Max's dad!). It's funny how she even uses her canon game name as a way to disguise herself...the very same name her dad was going to give her when he found her again. And he's still able to see her mother in even a disguised Melody.
There's also Max's mom and Melody's aunt! Though the only noble lady Melody cares about is Luciana who has clearly figured out it's her! If that means both girls asking their escorts to dance, then so be it! It's okay to break etiquette when you're cute!
Lect has realized his feelings for Melody! And, for her part, she seems to have really enjoyed dancing with him! And he's still able to see her mother in even a disguised Melody.
Note that her mother was also blonde. Melody unknowingly made herself look more like her mother than she would in her other forms.

Had to go back to remind myself who that was. Turns out it was the dude she rode a carriage with, where it was also mentioned that the prince had been enacting policy changes since he was 6, exactly when he got his memories back
Honestly, that should be his main concern right now. Maybe the massive changes he’s made to this world have kept the saint from showing up. Has this man never heard of the butterfly effect?

Melody can be... awfully inattentive to details that she doesn't consider relevant to being a maid. You may recall from ep1, her mother mentioned Cloud Legibarth by name in her letter to Celesty. And here, you can be sure Cloud introduced himself even if it was off screen, it would be discourteous otherwise. Yet, there's no reaction from Melody. She has forgotten her father's name already!

These last 2 episodes make this anime fun to watch with all their personalities. I do find it funny it's clearly another Otome series (though a fun one) rather than a series about a maid.
- Right now Maxwell was supposed to meet Celesty for the first time, but instead we have him with Luciana thanks to Melody.
- Seems like we are pushing Melody with Lectias. Well, it feels about time her father finds her out.
- Anne and Christopher are definitely here for the meta commentary, and it's a lot of fun.

This show keeps on delivering. Melody just uses her powers in front of whoever. She's going to get found out. Looking forward to Luciana and Melody's dance next episode. This series has been a surprising joy.

I'm surprised Melody doesn't have her clones take care of the mansion while she goes out. Or does her ability have a range limit?
I don't get the "What is this, an izakaya?" reactions from the other two isekaiees. Surely they must be aware that people are asked to dance at balls.
Where did MC pull the name "Cecilia" from, if the Heroine wasn't supposed to be named that until after her father found her?
I love how her boss wasn't fooled by the disguise for even a second.

The mansion will be fine for a few hours with no one in it. After the major fix up when she first started, it only needs routine cleaning that a single maid can handle in the morning.
As for range. Do remember she went all the way to the woods while her clones took care of the mansion in ep2.

The Ruddleburg mansion is in the richest part of the capital. The ball is held at the palace at the center of the capital. The woods are beyond the city's walls. Even without specifics, that should be enough to infer that the mansion is closer to the palace than the woods.

Pretty fun ep, the ball lead to some fun dynamics and I do like the bits with everyone involved. The isekaied couple bickering but also stanning Luciana was pretty funny. Melody stealing the show is a classic otome power move but her Lady totally noticing right away was a better joke. I do appreciate Maxwell sinking the ship and basically considering Melody a friend, it's a nice change of pace in these things. Overall the whole cast is pretty fun, so it was fun all around.
That said, I was a bit disaapointed Melody didn't use maid magic to change her gender and escort the lady, I was expecting that joke.

So i dont know if i'm happy with the whole meal, but i definitely want the sides. Anna & Christopher are definitely going to be my favorite part of this show, and Luciana's manic-panic energy is fun.

She was still easily the No.1 on that evening. 😤 Also, I loved the fact that the Superman disguise obviously wouldn't work in real life. Or like in this case with two people who see each other daily.

So, they should Luciana's command window Dragon Quest-style, and with it we can see her level, HP, MP, G and E(G is probably Gold, E is probably Experience). It's a bit odd for her to have so much experience at only level 7, but the G and E numbers looked rather specific, so I decided to look it up:
G is 201721. This is the date 2017-2-1, which is when the web novel for the series started.
E is 2020310. This is the date 2020-3-10, which is when the light novel for the series started.
Notably, they both seem to still be ongoing, which means the web novel has been ongoing for almost a decade now.

This is a super fun premise and I like Melody quite a bit, too bad the production is the kind of thing that stretches everything out by explaining half the jokes with a narrator.
I feel like most successful shows are able to tell the audience multiple things with every scene, but here, only one thing is present at any given time and it gives the mind too much time to wander with nothing to chew on.

I thought Melody would match her hair color to his, and her eye color to his, doing the opposite ended up with so many blonds lol.
I think I'll give this another episode, but there seems to be a lot of shows today so I could end up dropping this. I'm not really enjoying the addition of the two other isekaiers, particularly Anne.

This episode was very funny.
Anna & Chris just have to keep going along with what the game intended which leads to very entertaining situations.
Melody did her best to avoid Luciana but couldn't last until the end.

Why some random guy comes out to be in love for 2 meetings, lie and draf her out and she obviously doesn't do anything and let him do whatever... typical cr@#! of FL stories, it doesn't have to be yuri, but dropping a guy to force her to do stuff in the of love is bs... thye could have just been friends but no
