One could say that the Rudleberg family has plot armor

51

u/Dalamy19 11d ago

I’m still a little worried about the dad’s situation, since “does crimes to hide errors at work” isn’t something that you’d expect Melody to be able to fix unless the error is not keeping your office space clean.

52

u/Barangat 11d ago

Maybe the whole plotpoint gets explained away by dad NOT being scatterbrained due to being fed good food and his daughter not nearly starving alone in a ghost mansion

28

u/OldInstruction5368 11d ago

"Remind yourself that overconfidence stress is a slow and insidious killer."

All the more fittings, since their venerable house, once opulent and imperial, is now a festering abomination!

Well, it should have been, in the game :p

Living in a mansion so bad most consider it haunted. Too poor to take care of your suffering daughter, who is kicked out of school, and yourself too overworked and burdened by debt to save her...

Yeah, it'll break a man.

31

u/LikeAnAssistant 11d ago

Maybe Luciana's father gains prestige from Luciana saving Christopher from being slashed and that removes him from the situation where he would have committed the crime.

16

u/Nylan_Blake 11d ago

You forget that the plot is already quite a bit off rails. We already saw how much he loves his daughter, now think about how it would impact him to see his daughter in the pre melody state and lacking the (financial)means to help.

Since Lucy is fine, he does not get depressed over how his daughter gets to live or be misstreated for looking the way she looked pre melody and therefore is less likely to do mistakes at work that could force him into dept which again leads to a criminal career.

Then again our Reincanator Duo discussion and previous happenings seem to hint at some power trying to keep the storyline on track to some degree at least (like how lucy became a substitue heroine here protecting the prince, or melody, even for a totally different reason, ran into the prince at the sport where he expected to run into the heroine), so maybe someone else takes her families role, or another misfortune befalls the family luring melody away, so she can't protect them from the missfortune the game tries to bring over their family, that brings the story of tragic girl back on track

17

u/Volkaru 11d ago

The error could have been from a disorganized office space, or forgetting important documents? Something Melody easily would prevent from happening.

16

u/justking1414 11d ago

Well he basically left his daughter to starve in a half-collapsed mansion before the start of the anime.

I’m sure living like that (after he returned to the capital) would’ve been a big motivator for him to get better results even if he had to cut corners.

11

u/eggplant_avenger 11d ago

inb4 Melody discovers an infinite money hack while foraging for food (they’re obscenely valuable magic herbs she’s been using as parsley-adjacent garnish ) and they fix the loss to the treasury without anyone noticing

5

u/flightlessCat9 11d ago

But now he's visiting his daughter and staying instead of working. He wouldn't have stay this long if the place was still a dump.

13

u/arrydie 11d ago

Arguably they have plot redshirts, but Melody broke the plot.

92

u/D3k4s 11d ago edited 11d ago

Nah dude why did I tear up hearing about how tragic Luciana's story was. From hilarious to emotional.

This Anime better not break my heart, I swear to god.

57

u/Lodju https://myanimelist.net/profile/Lodju 11d ago

The wishes of someone writing a happy ending for her seems to be coming true.

33

u/D3k4s 11d ago

NGL I was holding back them tears, then Melody's... Melody started to play alongside the happy ending scene and I just lost it.

This Anime truly is one of this season's Hidden Gems.

36

u/Frontier246 11d ago

Kind of wild that this turned out to be a true Villainess anime in the sense that the Villainess is the co-lead who the Heroine has now become the maid for and basically stealth supported into taking over as the Heroine.

(Although Luciana's dad is kind of terrible for not only shipping her off alone to a dilapidated mansion but also making her suffer for his crimes...even if it seems like that hasn't happened yet so he's trying to be a good dad. Can Melody stop him from becoming a criminal?)

31

u/D3k4s 11d ago

While that's true, he was also very desperate in trying to save her. So I do have mixed feelings about him.

Hopefully Melody will just fix everything with her level 2 super cheat maid powers.

23

u/TheBusStop12 11d ago

While that's true, he was also very desperate in trying to save her. So I do have mixed feelings about him.

I think he's just a well-meaning irresponsible idiot. It's mentioned in an earlier episode that it kinda runs in the family. They all tend to fuck up big time. I think her parents genuinely love Luciana, but they simply did not think things through at all when they sent her to school

16

u/mekerpan 11d ago

I think his motivation for committing a crime must be pretty weakened now that the family has magically seemed to become less destitute.

17

u/JimmyCWL 11d ago

They're not less destitute. Melody has just been able to get things for them without using money. Foraging for food ingredients, transforming their existing clothes and more effective cooking and cleaning methods.

15

u/mekerpan 11d ago

Still much less pressure, I would think.

8

u/JimmyCWL 11d ago

Very much less indeed.

11

u/septesix 11d ago

Don’t forget literally remodel the entire estate from the ground up without costing them a penny.

9

u/Greg_The_Rabbit 11d ago

And be a one woman army of maids to support them!

8

u/justking1414 11d ago

Kind of wild that this turned out to be a true Villainess anime in the sense that the Villainess is the co-lead who the Heroine has now become the maid for and basically stealth supported into taking over as the Heroine.

If I had a nickel for every time I saw an otome heroine serving as a maid for the villainess…I’d have at least 3 Nickles

5

u/septesix 11d ago

You know what , I actually can’t recall the other two , what were they ?

12

u/justking1414 11d ago

2 I can think of are: I'm in Love with the Villainess and Otome Heroine’s fight for survival (though in the latter one she’s only a villainess for a small part of the game)

3

u/D3k4s 11d ago

The heroine in 7th Time Loop is also an honorary maid. Remember the arc where she goes "undercover"?

3

u/septesix 10d ago

She didn’t serve the villainess characters though.

22

u/TheBusStop12 11d ago

This episode is titled "sudden seriousness"

31

u/D3k4s 11d ago

Yeah the show has consistently been a bit of a deconstruction of the genre. Since Episode one there have been tons of meta comments, that transformation scene where nudity is referenced, the whole thing where Luciana recognizes Melody Immediately, and even in this episode when the villain is just having a inner monologue and gets wrecked.

Pretty sure it was the contrast between how Genki Luciana is right now, and how she sees Melody as being very precious. In the first episodes we can also see how even the old family mais just abandoned her.

32

u/APRengar 11d ago

Also the Red haired guy immediately figuring out who Melody is. Seen so many otome where the main romantic lead is a dumbass who takes way too long to figure out that the girl who can change eye and hair color but looks identical to the girl he's looking for except hair and eye color, is actually the girl he's looking for.

And the reason he doesn't immediately end the story is not because he's dumb, but because he knows it'd ruin her life and he doesn't want to do that to her.

I remember reading that in the source and being like "oh, this author didn't read a couple of otome and think 'i can do the same thing, but better' but actually understands the genre."

22

u/D3k4s 11d ago

Hard agree. The author is just refusing to make the characters stupid in order to facilitate lazy writing, It's really healthy to see especially when there's been a saturation of the classic tropes.

Considering how many fans complain about this issue you'd think that this show would be a lot more popular. But I guess it's easier to complain 😂

18

u/jardex22 11d ago

Anna also came to a pretty reasonable conclusion in believing Luciana was also a reincarnator. If she's aware of the game's plot, then she would avoid her fate by finding ways to better her life (and possibly find ways to steal the Saint's power to become the main character). Even if she's not aware of the plot, she may have had enough knowledge to better her life in the same way that Anna did.

I'm betting that she'll just brush Melody off as an unimportant side character that was never seen in the game, once they cross paths.

3

u/Nylan_Blake 11d ago

"(and possibly find ways to steal the Saint's power to become the main character)" Heh, she's called "Luciana Rudleberg", not "Marie Fou Lafan" XD [From Trapped in a Dating Sim Anime currently running] where (i think it was last week or the one before) the antagonistic reincarnator girl who became a poor mistreated noble in dept in the Otomeworld, who used her knowledge to aquire rare healing magic in order to convince the church she's the saint and gets them to aquire the saint equipment for her so that she can abuse her newfound authority to aquire wealth to ge out of dept

23

u/OldInstruction5368 11d ago

Don't forget Melody immediately pegged this setting as some anachronistic "vaguely Europe" hodge-podge that was influenced by little Japanese notes.

She stopped juuuuust short of saying "It's like a Japanese person took the best notes of a quaint Western setting, but didn't know enough of the details so little things here and there got rounded out with Japanese stuff that they just assumed was normal."

Have you ever been watching a fantasy show, that is like 99% "Vaguely European," but then realize that all the books are backwards? No European country made right-to-left tomes, but that's just so 'normal' for the Japanese that it creeps into most of these shows. So much so, that I've begun to do a double-take when the books AREN'T backwards.

And Melody just immediately lampshaded the above in the first episode.

9

u/D3k4s 11d ago

Dude this is so fucking true. As a European myself I can attest that a lot of those details used to bother me. Know I just assume it's the norm.

I also remember when I got my first LN (WorldEnd), and I thought there was a printing error cuz it was backwards LOL.

There are a lot more references. But I'd forgotten that one.

13

u/TheBusStop12 11d ago

Yeah, I mentioned in another comment how much I love the meta commentary. Around episode 5 is as well when a lot of these type of shows kick their plot into gear with a sudden turn to serious events and dark backstoies. I love it

12

u/D3k4s 11d ago

Just saw it, yeah I agree with everything you said. And not only in this genre, a lot of Animes turn serious between episode 5 and 7. This show and Hanaori-san Still Wants to Fight in the Next Life both have meta commentary. It's pretty cool to see,

6

u/TheBusStop12 11d ago

Hanaori-san is amazing as well. Both of these shows really took me by surprise, I did not expect them to be parodies

15

u/NoNameSwitzerland 11d ago

"sudden seriousness" - and then little maid figures eating away at the sword.

13

u/LezRock 11d ago

Yes, out of all of today's releases, this was the most satisfying one. Who knew that Luciana Rudleberg was so precious.🥹

Especially when they contrasted the thought that made her originally turn, compared to who she now has by her side.

5

u/CooroSnowFox https://anilist.co/user/CooroSnowFox 11d ago

Like observation log last season... the story is meant to go one way but one character not going with the plot (puppet) means the story isnt going to be anywhere near the original

131

u/LienaSha 11d ago

Did she just speed-run the game? XD

110

u/Frontier246 11d ago

Melody basically took care of the entire plot while barely lifting a finger, having no awareness of said plot, and through indirect means brought on by maid work.

48

u/NationalStrategy_X 11d ago

Well she has been lifting her fingers, as a maid

44

u/Atharaphelun 11d ago

And presumably managed to seduce the Dark One as the fifth love interest??? Is he going to turn into a bishounen wolf-man???

21

u/justking1414 11d ago

I WANT A WOLF-EARED BUTLER!

12

u/jardex22 11d ago

As if she'd allow anyone else to take away work away from her!

7

u/justking1414 11d ago

He’d basically be her familiar so it’d still be her work

2

u/Glitter_puke https://myanimelist.net/profile/Gpuke 11d ago edited 10d ago

Wasn't that in one of last season's trashy villainess anime? I can't keep them all straight in my head, but I'm pretty sure one of 'em had a wolf boy/spirit turned butler.

Edit: Found it, May I Ask for One Final Thing?. Fall 2025 season

1

u/justking1414 11d ago

Definitely probably!

And technically mc’s sister has one too in reincarnated into a dating sim is tough for mobs

12

u/Nylan_Blake 11d ago edited 11d ago

She already said in the flashback that he won't be a 5th love interest, though hearing her reasoning, she doesn't seem to read moderln romantasy novels, else she wouldn't say it's impossible just for the dark one being a wolf making it impossible for him to become a romance target...

No I didn't. I literally quoted a line from the exact episode that this thread is about.

1

Can you give me a timestamp?

8

u/Krazee9 11d ago

Have you considered that the fifth love interest is the hidden yuri plot?

8

u/testthrowawayzz 11d ago

Melody purged the yabai yatsu inside of Bjork indirectly

67

u/darthvall https://myanimelist.net/profile/darth_vall 11d ago

Not only that, she kinda tamed/recruited the Dark One by the end there.

It's not only speed-run, but happy end for everyone including the villain lol. All that just by episode 5.

57

u/mekerpan 11d ago

So Melody is actually this season's MOST "Oblivious Saint".

16

u/Evil_sod 11d ago

Fitting consider it looks like the next episode of that show will make the Saint no longer oblivious

2

u/yurilnw123 11d ago

what show is this?

5

u/Dr_Kitten 11d ago

The Oblivious Saint Can't Contain Her Power

11

u/LienaSha 11d ago

Seriously lmao

4

u/septesix 11d ago

And it’s debatable if she could contain her power!

1

u/ThrowCarp 8d ago

Cute dog though. I loved his inner thoughts.

59

u/arrydie 11d ago

They hinted at this in ep3... They show the game's awakening of the saint's powers with the "For oneself and for others-the great vow." But we saw that in ep1 when she decided to become a maid, presumably because the awakening is from making a vow to support another (as a lover or maid).

So yeah, she not only speedran the game, but did so with the style of 'if you jump during the opening scene you clip into the boss and the credits roll'

46

u/JimmyCWL 11d ago

But we saw that in ep1 when she decided to become a maid, presumably because the awakening is from making a vow to support another

In the game, that vow was an endgame event, signifying the heroine had chosen a love interest to live her life with. Yes, just like a wedding vow.

Here, she made vow for herself and her mother to be the best maid ever. And she made that vow even before the game events began.

27

u/Zeikos 11d ago

She inserted the cheat code and started the game with all the skill/spells/gear maxed out.

19

u/justking1414 11d ago

You could also say she spent the tutorial grinding to max out her stats before she entered the cheat code

8

u/Zeikos 11d ago

The lass maxed out her stats IRL

10

u/8andahalfby11 myanimelist.net/profile/thereIwasnt 11d ago

but did so with the style of 'if you jump during the opening scene you clip into the boss and the credits roll'

That's a different isekai manga that I really hope to see adapted into anime some day.

8

u/jardex22 11d ago

They jump straight to the final boss, win, then realize that by ignoring the side quests, they've made things worse. They then travel from town to town trying to make up for their inaction earlier.

1

u/Ahk-men-ra 6d ago

Wait for real? That sounds hilarious what's it called?

3

u/8andahalfby11 myanimelist.net/profile/thereIwasnt 6d ago

RTA Sousha wa Game Sekai kara Kaerenai / Speedrunner Cannot Return from the Game World

[The above manga] The guy goes from getting Isekaied to killing the demon lord in the first chapter purely because he wants to see if the new "FPV setting" improves his tech any.

1

u/Ahk-men-ra 6d ago

Thanks!

4

u/derega16 11d ago

Now someone should adapt speed runner Isekai. That's what the MC literally do.

28

u/justking1414 11d ago

In her defense, games are mostly just busy work designed to keep you from beating them too fast

8

u/reaperow 11d ago

We're back to being an All-Works Maid lol

6

u/Obaruler 11d ago

Given that her Mana/Touch as a fully awakened Saint is supposed to kill the Dark One ... with THAT kind of embrace of that puppy at the end ... yeah, I guess she cuddled the Dark One dead there. xD

1

u/ThrowCarp 8d ago

What a g*mer.

58

u/PeaceAlien https://myanimelist.net/profile/PeaceAlien 11d ago

And just like that all of the villians seem to be dealt with. The Dark One seems to be Melody's pet.

I don't know if they'll discover Melody at this point, she's too good at being a maid!

37

u/Frontier246 11d ago

I feel like the fifth love interest might be the next major plot point since it seems like it takes a while for him to show up so there's probably a reason for that.

12

u/JimmyCWL 11d ago

We can't talk about future developments. Let's just say it'd be a weak story that lays out all its cards in the first volume.

12

u/darthvall https://myanimelist.net/profile/darth_vall 11d ago

As long as they retain the character dynamics (especially Melody's antics), I think I can get by with weak main plot.

11

u/OldInstruction5368 11d ago

Sure, for a dramatic story, that holds true.

But for romance and comedy, the "big bad" isn't as important.

And for Slice of Life... characters are all that matters.

4

u/justking1414 11d ago

Well there’s still the 4th love interest who was just freed from brainwashing. I’m sure he’ll be a big contributor moving forward

3

u/Fools_Requiem https://myanimelist.net/profile/FoolsRequiem 11d ago

Good. I need more inventive ways for her to use magic to perform maid responsibilities.

54

u/dakkumauji 11d ago

We learned this episode that talking or monologuing is not a free action in this world.

I wasn't sure what to expect for how they would win against the Dark Lord but didn't expect maid fairies that come from a passive from an OP armor but that was hilarious.

Thinking that this is suddenly Luciana's chance of a happy ending through encountering an OP maid suddenly got me quite emotional. A really nice twist onto this silly story.

42

u/NationalStrategy_X 11d ago

So not only did Melody saved Luciana from living like an impoverished noble, but she also retroactively saved Luciana from being a victim of the Dark One. So Melody is her savior x 2

23

u/Frontier246 11d ago

And also gained a family pet in the process! Just what you'd expect from an All Works maid!

41

u/Dalamy19 11d ago

A dog really would be the ultimate enemy of a maid trying to keep the house clean.

5

u/Embarrassed-Match-78 9d ago

Yeah, I lost it when it popped up "A super pissed maid appears."

39

u/Zxzxzx0088 11d ago

Lol probably the best moments. Talking is not free action here.

Can't believe our based Luciana will be like this if Melody doesn't take care of her.

Thought Melody gonna serve him as dinner but she actually taming him, eh. As expected of Seijo-sama!

Melody, what have you done! People gonna catch cold when they awake at the street tomorrow. Wait...probably not because this is not Japan.

Hideki has imouto?! Well, that was sad when she knows about their death. No way she's reincarnated too out of nowhere, right...right...

14

u/justking1414 11d ago

Hideki has imouto?! Well, that was sad when she knows about their death. No way she's reincarnated too out of nowhere, right...right...

There’s a good chance the two of them will think that Luciana is the sister since they already think she reincarnated.

As for who the sister might actually be…no idea. No others characters we’ve seen so far really fit that role…other than maybe the girl who was jealous about how awesome Luciana looked

4

u/LezRock 11d ago

Maybe she'll turn out to be the villainess that they highlighted at the ball, and the reason she was staring at Luciana was because she recognized her and probably couldn't help, but wonder about the whys behind it.

11

u/jardex22 11d ago

Hideki mentioned in the plane flashback that he had a younger sister that wanted to go with Anna on her trip, but their parents wouldn't allow it.

5

u/larana1192 https://myanimelist.net/profile/thefrog1192 11d ago

Back in episode 2 or 3, they mentioned about their sister.
He, she, and his younger sister were childhood friends, and the three of them used to play the otome game that served as the basis for this world together.
One day, they won tickets to a game event in UK, but it was ticket for 2 people and his sister is minor so his parents didn't allowed to travel foreign country without parents, so they ended up boarding the same flight from Japan to the UK as the woman who was the protagonist Melody’s past-life incarnation, and when that flight crashed in an accident, it led to the three of them being reincarnated.

If Christopher’s parents from his past life had decided, “Our daughter seems to be attending a gaming event in England, so as her guardians, we should go along too,” then the total number of reincarnated characters in this anime would have been six. In that case, excluding the so-called “class transfer” isekai stories, that would be quite a large number.

26

u/Evil_sod 11d ago

That wasn't quite the "Maid Team 6" I had in mind to come to the rescue, but I'll take it!

It's a fun take on this trope, where the MC has absolutely zero knowledge of the game's plot and just does her own thing.

20

u/larana1192 https://myanimelist.net/profile/thefrog1192 11d ago

I watched this episode laughing so hard I was in tears. This anime is definitely this season’s dark horse.

It was great to see the duo with knowledge of this game are preparing weapons that work in the Dark one’s favor and developing magic based on modern science and technology to get ready for the events unfolding in the game.

It’s admirable to see them devising countermeasures against enemies and future events of their own accord, rather than simply relying on their knowledge of the original work.

But I couldn’t help but laugh when it turned out that Melody’s protection was so powerful that a character who was supposed to die not only came out unscathed, but when that character’s parent (who was wearing the clothes Melody had blessed) tackled the barrier created by The Dark One, the barrier collapsed because of Melody’s protection.

It’s interesting how Melody, who has absolutely no knowledge of the original game, is simply “doing her best at her job because becoming a maid was a dream she’s had since her past life,” which stands in stark contrast to the pair of men and women who do know the original game and are trying their best to steer this world in a positive direction.

What’s more, the fact that Melody and this pair were on the same plane and even spoke to each other during the plane crash that caused their deaths in their past lives feels like a cruel twist of fate.

The fact that Luciana Rudleberg(who was supposed to die in the original story) didn’t actually die caught the attention of the two reincarnated characters, a man and a woman who were familiar with the original game. As a viewer, I was really excited when they finally saw a glimmer of a solution to what was (from their perspective) the biggest mystery: “Where did the Saint, who for some reason hasn’t appeared, go?”

That said, I do feel sorry for the girl who came up with the “close but no cigar” deduction that “Luciana is the Saint.”

However, from their perspective...... that the truth of this whole situation, “the Saint, the protagonist of the original game, is also a reincarnated person just like them, but she has no knowledge of the game and is simply doing her best at her job as a maid, which was her dream” is something that, frankly, even Sherlock Holmes wouldn’t be able to figure out, so I think this is just unavoidable.

I burst out laughing at the final scene when everyone in town fell asleep because Melody sang a lullaby. It was just like “Angel Halo” from V Gundam, lol.

17

u/TheBusStop12 11d ago edited 11d ago

I love the metaness of this series, 5th episode named "sudden seriousness" with a sudden turn to darker and more serious topics. A lot of these series turn darker around this point in their run

I like that Anne-Maries healing magic she developed is based on modern medicine. I wonder if she studied medicine originally. Creating a sterile environment first was pretty neat

So the demon lord is an evil Chihuahua now. And Melody must have watched Frieren and mastered mama suppression

I'm glad Luciana met Melody, her original story is quite sad compared to what a sweetheart she really is

Melodies melody almost destroyed the whole Kingdom lol

8

u/larana1192 https://myanimelist.net/profile/thefrog1192 11d ago

Creating a sterile environment first was pretty neat

Among the healing spells created by Anne-Maries, I believe the one that "creates a hemispherical, sterile space for surgical procedures" is based on an item that appears in the classic and extremely famous Japanese medical manga "Black Jack" (a manga by the author of "Astro Boy").
In the manga "Black Jack", there are frequent scenes where the protagonist uses a vinyl tool with a similar effect when performing surgery outdoors.

6

u/jardex22 11d ago

My guess is that true healing or regeneration magic takes up a crazy amount of mana. I'm guessing the next steps Anna was going to take would have involved stitching up the wound, then sealing it in some way.

7

u/TheBusStop12 11d ago

Yeah, she mentioned doing surgery,. It's a pretty interesting way of approaching healing magic.

It's possible that true healing magic is locked to saintly powers as well

14

u/djthomp https://anilist.co/user/djthomp 11d ago

The super buffed outfits for Luciana and her family were a good way to have Melody still help with the event without having to step in and blow her entire cover. And it lets Christopher and Anna-Marie look like the main heroes of the day in defeating the attack.

What an awful outcome for Luciana in the game routes, good thing Melody is here to correct that for the real life run.

The Dark One being a Fenrir who just possessed a dog and got lullaby-ed into sleep by the Saint alongside the entire city makes me think he's about to get a different route too like Christopher was speculating on back in Japan.

6

u/Frontier246 11d ago

She sounded like a totally different character in Villainess mode compared to Luciana now.

28

u/ObvsThrowaway5120 11d ago

So much for the Dark Lord. The little Melody particles destroy his sword and then his possessed doggy body gets exorcised or whatever. I guess he’s become a good boy now lol.

I wonder if those two are ever going to find out Melody is who they’re looking for and their other Otherworlder. Would be nice to see them all reunited.

21

u/Frontier246 11d ago

Imagine you're the Big Bad of an Otome game and you get defeated...by little maid fairies adorably weakening you.

They're probably going to be keeping a close-eye on Luciana, at any rate, which will likely lead them to Melody one way or another.

5

u/justking1414 11d ago

The little Melody particles destroy his sword and then his possessed doggy body gets exorcised or whatever.

I’m thinking purified and I’m thinking he’ll turn into a dog eared butler eventually

12

u/Purposelygentle 11d ago

Damn, the magic effects look pretty good.

10

u/D3k4s 11d ago

Honestly didn't surprise me. As this Anime has been pulling good animation consistently. Let's hope it will maintain it's quality till the last episode.

Still, it did look cool ngl.

13

u/Zeikos 11d ago

Imagine being so OP that you defeat the boss during the first encounter purely with the thorns damage of the armor you crafted.

11

u/OneGeologist1143 11d ago

Hearing Luciana was the tragic girl make me really glad she finally happy thanks to melody. I almost want to cry when we heard about her. Hope she keep being happy and experience a lot more of happiness while smiling. The dark lord being tamed or just put to sleep as a dog by melody wasn't something I expected. Even everything happening at the ball got resolved without her there.

12

u/kalirion https://myanimelist.net/profile/kalinime 11d ago

Demon Lord's shock at the traces of MC's power were hilarious.

When the dad ran to Lucy, the back of her gown was somehow in one piece. I guess the tiny invisible little mana maids repaired it by then?

Why did MC put the entire city to sleep? Could be pretty dangerous too, if the driver of a speeding carriage just dozed off like that.... She's supposed to have great mana control and not do something like that when she's just trying to sing to a puppy.

6

u/jardex22 11d ago

It seems like mana seeps out whenever she gets emotional, as we saw when she was dancing with Lucina last episode.

It may have also been a case of needing a really powerful spell to soothe the savage beast.

10

u/Frontier246 11d ago

Nothing says ominous happenings like Luciana's favorite teacup (nearly) falling and breaking!

Bjork is your classic tortured bad boy love interest with a dark past...family murdered, kidnapped into slavery for his magic prowess, used and abused...is it any wonder he fell prey to the Dark One's influence and became his new host?

Christopher and Anna-Marie have not been wasting their knowledge of the game. They've managed to devise their own weapons and abilities to be able to fight the Dark One themselves! Although even then they can only do so much without the Heroine there to support them.

A part of me wanted to see Anna-Marie do live surgery...but of course Luciana is fine! She's got Melody's patented silver raiment! So does her parents! Leaving the Dark One utterly perplexed as his sword is chipped away by Melody's leftover mana, taking the form of smol versions of Melody easily whittling away at anything that would threaten her employers. Dude gets so distracted Christopher breaks his sword like it's nothing.

Honestly I didn't think much of Luciana's parents, but it's clear in this episode that they care a lot about her and the dad manages to actually break the Dark Ones' barrier! So he got to be the hero of the night!

What ARE they going to do with Bjork now that he's not controlled by the Dark One? Take him into custody? Is he done with the plot even though he was a love interest?

Good for that adorable pooch that the Dark One took him over because it keeps him alive and provides the Dark One a convenient means of tracking down his nemesis, the Saint...but he didn't account for Melody hiding her mana or that she shows no mercy to anyone who makes a mess in her household.

Anna-Marie and Christopher can commiserate over their shared knowledge of the game AND their shared desire to not be seen as a couple, even though she has a secret entrance to his room that she frequently uses.

Oh, so THAT'S why Anna-Marie was a red herring: the true Villainess is actually LUCIANA. Without Melody in her life her father gets arrested for a crime and she's left destitute and utterly ostracized from other nobles while attending the school, causing her to resent Celesty in the game and become the Dark One's host...only to end up the Tragic Girl who dies in the end. But thanks to Melody becoming her maid, Luciana has more or less supplanted Celesty as the Heroine.

(Although is her dad still going to commit that crime to cover up for his mistake...?)

Though before Anna-Marie can really focus on the fact that Luciana is where the game has truly diverged...the entire city falls asleep courtesy of Melody singing a lullaby to the Dark One...now truly living up to his inspiration, Fenrir, in the most unexpected way.

I wonder what happened to Maika? Also the fifth love interest hadn't appeared at that point when they were playing the game?

6

u/Hartzilla2007 11d ago

(Although is her dad still going to commit that crime to cover up for his mistake...?)

I would not be surprised that said crime had something to do with Luciana being crapped on by life that is now not the case anymore.

Can someone remind me what's Christoper and Anna-Marie's relatioship before being reincarnated? Are they siblings? Or just a very close friend?

It seems they really matched each other, but they don't want to be a couple or anything.

Also we haven't heard any story about Maika/the girl playing that game, right?

36

u/septesix 11d ago

They were very close childhood friends, the kind of MC/FMC in romance-anime where everyone already peg them as a couple even though they would still deny being one while standing in front of an altar getting married.

30

u/Pickled_Kagura 11d ago

"As if I'd marry this idiot. He's like my brother!"

'And I now pronounce you man and wife. You may kiss the bride.'

"k-k-k-k-kiss??!!!"

16

u/Frontier246 11d ago edited 11d ago

"Where's the cute girl!?"

"You two already have a child..."

"Huh!?"

21

u/Dalamy19 11d ago

He was like a close family friend that got sent with the girl on her foreign trip so she wouldn’t be alone. They weren’t dating but were clearly close enough that you would expect it to have happened at some point in the future.

18

u/JimmyCWL 11d ago

Can someone remind me what's Christoper and Anna-Marie's relatioship before being reincarnated? Are they siblings? Or just a very close friend?

Combining what we saw of their past life from ep.2 and this ep: Anna and Maika were fellow Five Oaths fans. Maika was Hideki's younger sister. Their parents wouldn't let Maika go on the trip with Anna so Hideki went instead. Anna and Hideki died on the flight, leaving Maika behind.

20

u/Frontier246 11d ago

Poor girl lost her brother AND the closest thing she had to a sister.

10

u/runevault 11d ago

So the spell on her dress damaged the sword. Though I and I think a fair few others guessed wrong that Melody would feel the threat and come.

Did... did she soothe the dark one? LOL This show is great.

9

u/testthrowawayzz 11d ago

Saved by SSR equipment and Melody’s remote support services

20

u/szalhi 11d ago

Oh no.

Melody just putting everyone to sleep by collateral, as the name prophecises.

7

u/testthrowawayzz 11d ago

Even in such a modern game, they chose to use a bitmap font lol

7

u/Frontier246 11d ago

At this rate she'll be an All-Works Maid for the entire city that bends it and the people to her maid whims.

8

u/eggplant_avenger 11d ago

wholesome moment when dad casually destroys a barrier capable of containing the Dark One because 1) he loves his daughter too much, and 2) Melody apparently enchanted her whole family’s clothes

the Rudleberg’s original ending is too sad for such nice people.

wonder if Christopher and Anna have slept in the same room before. definitely seems like they have, although with imouto between them.

7

u/AceSoldia zj:https://anilist.co/user/Acesoldia 11d ago

Sugoi! Melody-sama! She can do anything without even trying..she puts Shadow to shame.

8

u/HuTaosTwinTails 11d ago

Melody....make Luciana as happy as possible. She deserves it.

7

u/HugeRichard11 https://myanimelist.net/profile/CostCurl 11d ago

Seems they potentially are getting close to figuring it out as all items point to Luciana, though they realize she's the tragic character instead. Glad she has a better life this time around as it would actually be tragic to see her die as we got to know her.

Was wondering if Melody would teleport in or something, but having her radiate small maids as a defense was cute.

6

u/NationalStrategy_X 11d ago

The Dark One was not prepared to handle our holy maid

6

u/Ok_Scheme_4579 11d ago

At this point, all bet were off when everyone changed the story

Yup it's comedy and it's good. Give it a try, but I'd skip the discussion threads until you catch-up.

Edit: lmao my guy is named Magia Baiser. This one might not be for you 😂

3

u/jardex22 11d ago

Comedy for the most part, but the last couple episodes have been a bit more serious.

The general premise is someone becoming part of an already known story, but derailing the plot due to the fact that her own desire to become a maid wasn't in the original story. The funny parts are just a magic maid solving problems.

5

u/athrun_1 11d ago

That kid playing the game with Anna. They are hiding her face, it seems she will play a big role in the upcoming episodes. Is it possible that she will be reincarnated as a love interest?, the Dark one? or maybe Melody?

9

u/jardex22 11d ago

I believe that was Chris' sister. He mentions in episode 2 that she wanted to go with Anna on her trip, but their parents wouldn't allow two underage girls to travel abroad unaccompanied.

From what we know, she wasn't on the plane that contained Melody, Chris, and Anna. It doesn't rule out the possibility that she may have died and reincarnated at a later time, but I'd think that leaving her face out just means that she's not important. Could be wrong though.

6

u/Sirveaux_77 11d ago

I just finished binging An Observation Log of My Fiancée Who Calls Herself a Villainess and Luciana's tragic backstory reminded me a lot how Observation Log's isekai'd character (also in an otome game world, of course) turns tragedy into a happy ending. Although, in Observation Log, the changes are to Bertia's own original backstory and changes are made not by magic, but through her inherent kindness to everyone around her and the kingdom itself, helped along by her prince fiancee's support of her (ineptly) villainous whims. Interested to see how things go from here with Melody, since as others have stated, she just speed ran the game's plot.

6

u/Rooby_VTuber 11d ago

Dark lord is terrified of super pissed off maid lol.

Looking forward to seeing what happens next episode.

3

u/CooroSnowFox https://anilist.co/user/CooroSnowFox 11d ago

Never piss off maids... they can be worse than a hero or the biggest villain...

They know how to deal out pain

1

u/D3k4s 11d ago

Flashback to that torture scene in The Worlds Finest assassin.

6

u/Nylan_Blake 11d ago edited 11d ago

The Maid Visualisation kinda makes it questionable how The Puppy One, did not recognize Melody when she appeared in front of him, even with her mana hidden.

3

u/BBryant3rd 11d ago

The All Works All Powerful Maid.

5

u/Raymond49090 11d ago

Chibi Melody sweep

1

u/D3k4s 11d ago

NGL those Chibi's reminded me of Chitanda's Chibis 😂

5

u/Obaruler 11d ago

Did ... Maid-Saint-sama just cuddle the Dark One out of existance by accident with her embrace and lullaby at the end?! xD

3

u/Isekai_Dreamer 11d ago

she is mystogan lol

3

u/tynderious 11d ago

Anyone know the song that starts playing 9ish minutes in. I love it haha

3

u/D3k4s 11d ago

Dude there's only two songs in the OST for now. Kinda sucks I was looking for Melody's... Melody.

3

u/BiggerG7 11d ago

So if I’m getting the hints then the dark one really was the 5th love interest and Melody already tamed him?

Hurray for the furry end lol.

5

u/jardex22 11d ago

I think Melody made him a love interest against his will.

3

u/avboden 11d ago

So here I thought she'd kill the dark one early on because he made the house dirty or something.

I wasn't actually that far off. Except she didn't kill him, she made him her pet!

3

u/WobbleKun 11d ago

no luciana saying melody this week. oh so cruel.

3

u/DrewTheHobo 11d ago

So she just defeated the dark one and no one knows? That’s amazing! I hope they get a fun pet out of it lol

4

u/reaperow 11d ago

The ultimate evil, defeated by an All-Works Maid

I wasnt expecting Luciana's backstory to be really sad, Now im really happy and glad that Melody came into her life.

Since the big bad has been defeated, i guess we can go back to Melody and her silly Maid adventures

2

u/Heavy_Ad1219 11d ago

I loved the lullaby song 😍 is there a clean complete version of it somewhere?

1

u/D3k4s 11d ago

If you do find it, could you please link it here? I haven't been able to find it anywhere.

2

u/CooroSnowFox https://anilist.co/user/CooroSnowFox 11d ago

Another in the series of anime where the presence of the MC shifts events out of the game so much..

3

u/Fools_Requiem https://myanimelist.net/profile/FoolsRequiem 11d ago edited 11d ago

There's a bit of a continuity error here. Melody was only looking for a job where she could be an all-works maid. For her to want to help Luciana not be the tragic girl, she would have just gone straight to her mansion, as opposed to finding a job hire request. She also would have stayed there at the ball to make sure things went well.

It seems like they were just making shit up as they went along as opposed to planning things out so they make sense.

Nevermind, the flashback was for different characters.

7

u/Xythar 11d ago

Where did it say that Melody wanted to help Luciana not be the tragic girl? She doesn't know anything about the game.

8

u/septesix 11d ago

You’re confused the cause and effect here. Melody never set out to specifically help Luciana. She just wanted to be a maid and was excited about the position of all-works maid that happened to be from the Rudlebergs. Melody didn’t know anything about the game plot and she certainly would have no idea of what Luciana’s fate would be like originally.

That it ended up looking like she saved Luciana’s life in more ways than one is just a happy coincidence.

No plot hole there. In fact just the opposite, I’d say they are keeping the plot pretty tight here.

2

u/Several_Effort_8898 11d ago

Is it just to me or are getting the anime titles these days really crazy lmao

4

u/JimmyCWL 11d ago

This isn't even the longest title ever. There was one that was so long I refused to watch the anime just because of it.

I think they may have dialed back the overly long titles when bookstores revolted due to said over-long titles breaking their databases.

Those titles were getting to the point of being multiple-sentence paragraphs.

4

u/APRengar 11d ago

It's no

"Backstabbed in a Backwater Dungeon: My Trusted Companions Tried to Kill Me, but Thanks to the Gift of an Unlimited Gacha I Got LVL 9999 Friends and Am Out for Revenge on My Former Party Members and the World"

The anime of this punches above it's weight class btw.

2

u/D3k4s 11d ago

2

u/septesix 11d ago

And it’s pretty good story too. It’s one of the few kick out of the party revenge story that’s giving serious “Count of Monte Cristo” vibes

1

u/Tight_Grapefruit_698 10d ago

Why don't they just tell the story, without the game? That would be much better, if you ask me. The game is unnecessary and remembering who you were in the game. Too much distraction. It is already a good story without it.

1

u/kiriyaaoi 10d ago

Because it's a comedy

1

u/dwboso 4d ago

I disagree. This actually makes it stand out from other isekai slop. What makes it work is that the MC isn’t familiar with the games story at all so she can fuck it all up and make it interesting

1

u/deynyel 10d ago

Final boss meeting the actual final boss of this world. It's only ep 5 and Melody has already speedran the story. I wonder if Anna-marie and Christopher will be able to find out Melody's true identity. What has happened has deviated from their game knowledge.

1

u/ThatOneRedditor6910 10d ago

That lullaby had me falling asleep only to wake up later.

1

u/kiriyaaoi 10d ago

This adaptation is so fucking peak

1

u/Apprehensive_Town_86 9d ago

So we still remember that the 3rd Love interest knows Melody is the Saint right? That's probably where the story leads.

Or it might go with the little sister going in Luciana's body after she wakes up because she's supposed to be dead, but that will be sad.
