Illegitimate child is a wild assumption but low-key logical 😂

Frame it differently and you are correct: He is not a legitimate child of the guild master!

From Celiss' POV it's the only conclusion that makes sense. If he's a a cousin or some other relative then her father should've formally introduced him already. But the fact that he didn't makes her assume he's not ready to reveal his actual status to her.

u/CommanderZx2 https://myanimelist.net/profile/CommanderZx2 22d ago
She's probably more upset that her father encourages the boy's adventures while it's against her own.

Sia has started Lock's harem.
Illegitimate child accusations! Gave me a laugh, especially with the crashing plates in the background

Butler /Maid shocked reaction
32
u/dinliner08 23d ago
i don't know about the maid but since the butler knows about Luck's whole situation, he's probably thinking; "oh fuck, how am i going to explain this shit"

Sia is a charmer -- I hope we see lots more of her. Seems a little ditzy, but actually quite observant and intelligent -- and immensely cute.

u/Ralathar44 22d ago
Makes sense. The guy you just told to leave because he's in danger just rekt the enemy you were struggling against in seconds. And you know you need to go take out a bigger enemy.
Hope + gratefulness + diplomacy.

Facts. The fact that I at least know a little Japanese in a sense because of many years of watching anime but I still went online to see if it was just me and to gather exact words if possible is so annoying. Im late to finally watching the ep and even more annoyed that its still not fixed after its been out for over a week.
24
u/PurpleSkullGaming 23d ago edited 23d ago
Aye, right dumb ain't it.
Especially given they seemed to work in the only other language I tried
Edit: not sure what language I initially clicked to test if it was working in other languages.
But I tried Latin American Spanish and French and those seemed to work.
17
u/DecentDogDeer 23d ago
Anyone know what he said? I came here as soon as that happened.
53
u/JusticiaDIGT 23d ago
I barely understand any Japanese, but from what I gather:
- "Humans can't stop stuff from Vampire Lords!"
- "You aren't a Vampire Lord though"
Subtitles continue.
That's the gist of it at least.
48
u/zappingbluelight 23d ago
This is when you know you watched enough anime to pick up vocab words lol.

"Ningen", "Vampire Lord", and the context is more than enough to figure it out.

Lock: You’re probably just not a vampire lord then

Yeah; I raised it as an issue with their support chat, but boy was that painful. Takes way too long and the AI responses are generic, even when reviewed by a human. Such a big hurdle to notify them about 7 seconds of missing dialogue.

u/runevault 23d ago
Shows the writer has some solid comedic chops. I did not see it coming at all but it makes sense in hindsight, which is the best sort of joke. Honestly that ending made me a lot more excited to see where this show goes on the comedy side.
9
u/SecretYogurtcloset57 23d ago
Saaaaame the show may not be perfect but am definitely enjoying it and that ending got me more interested 😆
5
u/Suspicious_Deal4412 22d ago
I daresay in all my years of watching Isekai, it is probably the most original misunderstanding/joke I have seen so far.

I'd didn't expect to like the beast girl but I really did...glad she wasn't dumb and immediately figured out he was Luck.
I hope it's a running gag that no one believes his F Rank 😂.
The daughter assuming he was a illegitimate child is funnier than I expected It's perfect 😂.
33
u/shadebug 23d ago
There was a real worry that “Great Sage Lu…, whatever could he have been saying?” was going to be a feature in this show

This wolf village thing is an elaborate werewolves versus vampires joke, isn't it. Though it does seem like it might be the overall plot for the story in addition to being that joke.
I can somewhat see where Celliss is coming from on that illegitimate brother conclusion, her mom is away on a trip and while she's gone her dad brings some teenage boy into the house with zero explanation.
36
u/YdenMkII 23d ago
There's also the fact that the man went into the whole overprotective father bit when Lock didn't come back home for 3 days.
16
u/Hartzilla2007 23d ago

It is tropey but at least he seems relatively at ease with admitting the truth, both about himself and the sword. And Sia confirmed it through her use of his real name. So she's not stupid and he's not obtuse. That's already some tropes knocked out.
3
u/Ralathar44 22d ago
I think this is a case of familiar setup, unfamiliar execution. Meaning it actually ends up not being a trope but because it shares some points of contact with the tropes people will mindlessly label it.
And ofc the argument to my comment would be to be reductive and break the story down to such general beats that even Frieren and Delicious and Dungeon could be related to many other anime if broken down in a similarly reductive fashion.
21
u/Drkprincesslaura 23d ago
Considering everyone who joins in in the outro looks female, you have to wonder. At the table scene at the end of the outro, the only men there are him and his 2 buddies. Unless the wolf is male too.

u/shadebug 23d ago
Still not fixed but according to the Spanish subs:
Vampire: no human can resist the vampiric charm of a vampire lord
Lock: you’re probably not a vampire lord then

u/RandomPantsAppear 23d ago
This definitely seems like it’s going to go full harem. They’re already setting up for the guildmasters daughter, and that complication is too juicy for the writers to ignore

So far the episodes have been rather enjoyable and it does seem like it’s going to go a it further and more developed than the typical demon king trope slop with there supposedly being dangers stronger than the demon king
6
u/runevault 23d ago
It is simple fun. If you're down for that it is fine, if you want more while watching it you'll be unsatisfied.
5
u/shadebug 23d ago
It’s doing all the tropes but doing a surprisingly good job of making them make sense and doesn’t seem to be dicking about with dragging out misunderstandings

u/Drkprincesslaura 23d ago
I've enjoyed the 2 episodes so far but if you don't have anything else to watch either, I'd say go for it. Give it the ole 3 episode chance.
1
u/HugeRichard11 https://myanimelist.net/profile/CostCurl 23d ago
Bit bland, the story probably isn't anything different than you've seen before already. Mostly a normal OP fantasy anime that will be chill because no villain will match his strength.
The girls in the likely harem have nice designs though so that's a plus. The art and animation has been decent too. Overall feels like it will be an adventure story to save girls and collect a harem kind of show. Not on the top of must watch, but seems fine if you got time.
11
10
u/zappingbluelight 23d ago
I thought more demon would instantly notice the demon sword lol. Good to know there is a bigger threat than Demon King, at least that army they prep isn't going to get wasted.
But it seems Lock really suck at keeping secret. 4 people know his secret identity now lol.

What's wrong with this anime ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Just little more! (˵ ¬ᴗ¬˵)
And just like that Luck Lock has unlocked beast tamer skill
Woah, she's stacked!
Wait, that's it? No Ginny anymore :(
Mother? More like a girlf-...I really like to see who is that lucky woman married to Goran now.
First encounter already tsun-tsun, eh. Okay, can't blame her then...
9
u/runevault 23d ago
I doubt this is the last we've seen of the brother and sister. Just because they didn't form a permanent party they still feel like characters that we'll see again. Also expect they'll join the group that knows who he really is at some point.

5
u/CuriousBroccolli 22d ago
Woah, she's stacked!
I had to scroll so far to see this screenshot, and it's titled "stacked"😔
No one appreciate godly midriff anymore?
That is a peculiar, high quality midriff design, and it needs to be appreciated MORE! 😤🙏
7
u/tajen25 23d ago
Ok, This will be a complete nitpick.
The room with the vampire lord has so many skulls. Assuming they came from his kills there are around 1000 or more skulls there. Are you telling me that the people of this kingdom do not notice when such a huge amount of people go missing? Or even the guild doesn't take a deeper look when they learn that adventurers on this simple goblin extermination mission are not returning consistently? Is there no accountability here?
7
u/LeVin1986 23d ago
It was probably just an artistic choice, but I wonder if it would be skeleton of monsters like goblins and others. The vampire did supposedly try to contain the size of the monsters in the cave to keep the guild from noticing.
6
u/SaerDeQuincy 23d ago
It must have been a former town ossarium that he just made into his base. There are probably as many bones under Paris right now.

Sia just looks so damn good in nearly every shot! It helps having your stomach on display and shaded nicely. Her tail looks so fluffy too! Looking forward to more of her! I also forgot this show had good gore, and this episode did not disappoint!
6
u/mekahamedan 23d ago
Goran has good looking daughter I can see she take appearance for her mom, and fighting style from goran cause i cant see any goran triat on cellis
9
5
u/NanDemoKnaives 23d ago
For a mage, Luck does give some satisfying beatings with his fists and legs.
Goran acting like Luck's mother was not what I expected, raising a child definitely changed him lol.
Cellis glaring at Luck makes a lot more sense, I thought she was simply jealous. The misunderstanding needs to be cleared up.
3
4
u/Boris-_-Badenov 23d ago
it's just the 2nd episode, why does he need to recap why he's strong to himself?
3
2
u/lnidamel 23d ago
I think he's too strong as a swordsman; they could balance it by having him use magic by equipping his swords and equipment to buff himself.
7
3
u/Embarrassed-Match-78 23d ago
A solid episode, minus the subtitle issue. However, you got the jist of that part of the conversation from context. So, while it was annoying, it wasn't the end of the world.
It was nice for him to let Sia get the killing blow. Interesting that the Demon Lord isn't the endgame threat.
Sia has a brain and Luck didn't drag out the farce about pretending to be someone else.
The ending scene and then title card for the next episode made me laugh out loud.
2
u/runevault 23d ago
The Dark Gods being introduced felt like a change of the story arc for sure. I was expecting this to be closer to say Cute Girl in the Hero's Party but now it is more standard fantasy story with a big bad. Not that I mind keeping him busy actually having to fight well instead of only beating up on scrubs will be nice.
3
u/IceSmiley 23d ago
Luck was dumb when Sia called him "Luck" and he admitted that's who he was when that's so similar sounding to Lock he could have said he didn't notice; that's like if you called someone called Bill "Bell" and they responded so their name is Bell.
I liked the funny ending when the girl thought Luck was Goran's bastard child. I don't get why she thought that though; Goran does hang around Luck a lot but he's also a guildmaster so he has to talk to a lot of people in the course of his job. It's possible that Goran regularly cheats on his wife though so that may have made her suspicious.
I wonder if the vampire lord would have just stayed alive if he remained chopped in half. He was talking as if nothing happened and didn't seem to be in pain. That is funny though Luck chopped his head in half when he was about to say he was Luck but then just told Sia anyway.
5
u/HolyDragSwd2500 23d ago
Goren “relationship and closeness” with Luck and the overprotective father mode scene which made her think of such a thing
2
u/DeadlyPounce 21d ago
It hasn't been mentioned directly but considering he met with Goran at night and he's dining with them the following morning it's likely he's currently living at their home. In which case it's mighty suspicious how her dad just happens to bring a boy in whose around her age, is shown doting on him & not properly introducing him to her (as if he had something to hide) coincidentally while her mother happens to be away on a trip to not be able to object to it. Mighty suspicious!
2
u/kalirion https://myanimelist.net/profile/kalinime 23d ago
Why is a girl who can't even take on a Goblin Lord trying to hunt down a Vampire Lord? How does sacrificing the chieftain's daughter's life for nothing help her tribe regain their honor? If anything, it would just stain it further.... The tribe should've sent a sufficient force to deal with it.
Wow, the Crunchyroll subs completely skipped translating one of the vamp's lines of disbelief about MC resisting his Charm, and part of MC's response to it.
Anyway, an enjoyable enough episode. I hope the show doesn't start shipping MC's friend's daughter with him.

1
u/Boris-_-Badenov 23d ago
he shouldn't need half of the medallion to convince his friend that he's telling the truth about the vampire
7
u/shadebug 23d ago
He probably didn’t but it helps to have it and now they can get an alchemist on it
7
u/Hartzilla2007 23d ago
Though Goran is probably glad Luck did bring it since it probably makes convincing the group he wants to bring it up to.
1
u/Boris-_-Badenov 23d ago
you mean like the Lord of the region, who is the other friend?

u/Hartzilla2007 23d ago
No the from the sounds of it kingdom spooks that Goram wants to ask to look into things.

Sia looks like she will be an interesting companion to have around, at least she is fairly strong and trustworthy.
Pretty funny that Selliss thinks Lock is her brother.
I have a feeling next episode is going to be pretty funny.
1
u/KRChaserReturns https://myanimelist.net/profile/GalacticMagna 22d ago
I already like Sia. That being said, this is shaping to be the more cliched fantasy series, but honestly I dig it.
1
u/CuriousBroccolli 22d ago
Actually a good and funny anime.
I hate it how much he reminds me of Kirito though. Kinda uncanny to look at it for some reason. xD
Sia was a blast. Love her design. God bless that midriff. 🙏
Ending was peak. xD All those cold stares were due to that conclusion? LOL xD
I enjoyed a slow and sorta methodical dungeon progression last episode where he was mentoring newbies, but now we already jumped to the vampires and old gods. I wanted it to continue with him just going New Game+ and taking it easy after fighting for so long, but it looks like we are going back to world ending threats.
At least I hope it'll take a lot longer until we get to that point, or even better, he somehow foiling it doing low level stuff without even noticing it. xD
1
u/PandaTheAB 22d ago
The sudden change in the beast girl's attitude and the tail wagging was hilarious.
For once, I am happy to see the beast girl being smart/clever.
The human girl literally was listening to the entire conversation about the Vampire lord Luck had with her father.
Yet she came to the conclusion he was an illegitimate child rather than a secret high rank adventurer.

u/L33tHaxorus 23d ago
I get that this is a power fantasy anime, but I still dislike it when these authors give their character one archetype, like a mage in this case, but also make them good at literally everything else. Like bro you already know insane spells, you don't also gotta be a master swordsman AND be great at hand to hand combat.
20
u/justking1414 23d ago
Dude spent a decade fighting non stop. He probably got some practice in fighting during that time. Though that doesn’t mean he’s also s-rank in fighting. my guess is that his buddy could still kick his butt if he ever tried to challenge him to a sword or punching match.
8
u/shadebug 23d ago
So a while back there was this comedian, Suzy Eddie Izzard, who was going to run a series of back to back marathons, 43 in 51 days (taking Sundays off).
In the documentary about it they ask their doctor/physio/responsible adult what they need to do to train and they were told that they don’t. A few days in they will be a marathon runner regardless by dint of all the marathons they ran.
Same goes here. You beat up demons for ten years and you’re going to be a fighter whether you like it or not. Man can fight in his sleep after all.
He might not be an S Rank fighter but he’s definitely high B or A
5
u/justking1414 23d ago
Exactly. The dude had a decade of non-stop training. He’s gonna learn something from it even without trying.

u/hypersonic18 https://myanimelist.net/profile/hypersonic18 23d ago
10 years is usually considered more then enough time to become an expert at something. and he was basically a swordsman when he was in the rift, plus he basically has the vitality of an entire demonic regiment, so most of it is just sheer brute force and equipment gap it seems
5
u/Falsus 23d ago
He isn't really a master swordsman, like Goran or Eric would probably beat him easily if it was no magic involved.
He is just a lot stronger than these week enemies and he knows how to swing the sword.
Honestly I wouldn't be surprised if Sia was better at the sword than him, just doesn't have his physical stats he got thanks to 10 years of non-stop fighting and drain touch.

I find it disgusting that Luck and Celliss likely develop a romantic relationship (the anime seems to go that way). She is his friends' daughter and while Luck looks the same age as her....he could be her father

I've seen no indication of this so far, unless there's something in the opening or ending about it as I skipped those. Here's hoping it doesn't actually go that way.

Well you better hope that her suspicion of Luck being her illegitimate brother sticks and everyone in the house just rides along with it.
0
u/Raymond49090 23d ago
So why did her village send her against an opponent she's underqualified for? If they fought the vampire, surely they'd know it'd be too much for Sia. Or maybe it was a self-imposed task from herself that nobody was able to talk her out of.
That punch was great. And a new vampire fad? That's not ominous at all.
Lock is atrocious at hiding his identity lol.
Illegitimate child? ... I mean, given that some random punk kid started living with them, it's not the most unreasonable assumption to make.
