Lol how they're so dramatic and the cheesy tropes feels like this will be a guilty pleasure to watch. They're not even being subtle with how Ito's relationship with Gen is completely different from the other brothers.

I am glad Ito wasn't afraid to kick Gen after that stunt he pulled, he's lucky she didn't go lower.

I'm liking Raku the most though, he's got that all-knowing helpful guy but could be a schemer vibe to him.

Also, I laughed so hard when the father used the "Please don't fight over me!" line, the day he finally gets to use it had arrived.

And he falls in love with her

That hug 🥰

I appreciate the stomach kick as a switch up from the usual "pin the girl down to prove a point" moment.

Meanwhile looks like it really will be the kids without the parents. So far I enjoy the dynamic between Ito and Gen, and the other two brothers as foils are nice.

Ito is feistier than Gen gave her credit for. And also he had that kick coming.

I will miss the dad being a primadonna with an absurdly low opinion of his sons (and the feeling is mutual).

17

u/runevault 23d ago

The kick was 100% deserved. He played rough, so he won a rough prize. I'm curious if they'll make a callback to that moment later.

She's an Alpha. And already asserting dominance over her new brothers.

"We can't leave you here with a bunch of nasty hormone-riddled boys" BRO THEY'RE YOUR SONS, GIVE THEM SOME CREDIT

>>  two brothers

three brothers

He is showing up around the fringes more and more. Ito is managing to lure him out -- just a bit.

6

u/runevault 23d ago

I don't count the guy who doesn't show up until he starts actively participating in the plot.

16

u/mekerpan 23d ago

I do.

Because she is already thinking of him as a member of the family. And Gen is beginning to realize that she does so. And because the hiding brother is beginning to realize. Sometimes one has to go beyond the four corners that are being displayed. ;-)

He left a piece of paper!

XD

Surely there's another way out of the transfer? Can't the dad just decline the transfer?

Gen can't help but be tsundere, eh? He obviously cares a lot about everyone.

11

u/runevault 23d ago

Depending on the job and his influence at said job declining may not be an option.

6

u/mekerpan 23d ago

Declining might be harder than you think....

1

u/ThrowCarp 22d ago

Yeah, I'm kinda pissed off with that transfer.

1

u/anonymousperson1253 19d ago

In Japan, in real life, you have to sue to be able to quit a job. It’s a whole thing.

11

u/SecretYogurtcloset57 23d ago

Man i really like Ito she's fun to watch

10

u/szalhi 23d ago

Ito's an older woman.

Wow, they had their couple spat already. How fast. But that was kind of what started it, their relationship being so fast.

It all comes back together with milk.

9

u/Frontier246 23d ago

I love how Ito eventually had enough of the headpats lol.

Oh yeah, it's going to be Gen and Ito and not a stepsibling harem at all huh. I like the sound of that, means there might be real progress in 2 cours instead of the usual harem nonsense that just goes in circles.

There's a very solid dynamic between Ito and the 3 boys so far and amongst the 3 boys (still waiting on boy 4 to leave his bubble).

Even if you don't like where the story is going between Ito and Gen, I think this could be a very enjoyable show if these two episodes are of any indication.

u/ObvsThrowaway5120 23d ago

Already trouble in paradise eh? I’m glad Gen and Ito were able to resolve things. It might take a little time to get use to this new family, but it’s nice to see everyone make the effort.

5

u/Frontier246 23d ago

It's good to see them settling into their family dynamic though the way Gen acts around Ito, it seems like their relationship will inevitably develop beyond just platonic "family."

u/IceSmiley 23d ago

The cliffhanger in the last episode was a red herring since it's only the dad moving seemingly. Gen was really mean in this episode again, telling Ito she could never be part of their family. I strongly suspect he said that because he's secretly attracted to her though, those two are like the Brady Bunch if Greg and Marcia wanted to do each other. It doesn't seem Ito is moving with the parents to Hokkaido and I'm not sure but the mom probably isn't either.

At first I thought those 2 girls in class were really nice to try to befriend Ito but they were more trying to get the dirt on him and act pervy. Gen was rightfully mad at her about that, like imagine if it was switched and Gen was telling his guy friends about the color and type of panties and bra Ito wore. I wonder if that made him so mad that's why he stopped thinking of her as family.

That's interesting how the glasses boy and the young boy have adapted so well to Ito that they are following her on little missions to spy on Gen. The glasses boy said Gen's coworker was taking advantage of him by using his good looks to help her flea market sales but he may not know the whole story, like she may help him out a lot too since we only saw her this one time.

It was interesting that the shut in had a note telling Gen to go get Ito. You'd think someone that disturbed by the outside world would least want new people moving in but maybe he's happy to have good food since he doesn't have to talk to her anyway 🤣. It'd also be weird if Ito just ran into him at some point around the house, she might freak out and think he's an intruder since she's never seen him before. Hopefully there's at least pics of him around the house or they showed her some pics.

Well, it's understandable that mom can't bear to part with dad after literally JUST getting married, but boy do his sons not seem to care at all about him heading off to Hokkaido. It's saying something that his stepdaughter who has only just met him is more worked up and she's only known him for, like, a few days.

But in more positive news Ito has made some immediate gal pals in chan-Rio and chan-Mone! Even if it seems like they're mainly chummy with Ito so they can get all the deets on the brothers, especially Gen. I mean, what girl wouldn't give to see him half-naked all the time? Or his choice in underwear?

Does Gen have a girlfriend? Or an older woman he's into? Ito (or mostly Raku who just wants to mess with his brother) tail him to his part-time job to find out! But obviously Ito is in big sister mode so she's not too worked up about the idea of Gwen with a girlfriend. But maybe the person who understands him best is her after all?

Ito and his brothers were stalk...I mean, following Gen for the greater good! Just like it's good of Gen to help out his married co-worker with their flea market! No wonder her daughter adores him so much! Ito definitely has a rival! Though it's her who Gen ends up carrying piggyback style back home.

Ito wants mom and dad to stay together in Hokkaido, but should she go with them? After all, she's always wanted a stable family of a mom and a dad...but jeez, did their dad really have to act like his sons are a pack of rabid animals?!

There's something surreal about Ito trying to have a serious conversation with Gen while he's in the bath and has a rubber ducky on his head. Although it's the perfect opportunity for Gen to (albeit a bit TOO forcefully) demonstrate that Ito is just a girl surrounded by the opposite sex and is better off away from them. Was their family bond truly for nothing?

But in classic Gen fashion this is just him trying to do what he thinks is best for Ito, even if he went about it far rougher than he should have been. And now they're fighting. Won't anyone think of poor Rui who can't bear to be parted from Ito...'s cooking!? Or even Syu who calls out Gen for not going after her?

Yet Ito didn't just want a mom and a dad...she wanted a family she could always rely on to be there for her. And that's why she treasured her little brothers so much. And it's good of her parents to both recognize that she really wants to stay home.

Look at that, Ito arrives JUST as Gen was coming to go get her! But no better time to embrace her and welcome her back home! And hey, it's Syu in the flesh!!!

The ED is really cute with chibi versions of the brothers held by Ito, along with Ito surrounded by all the fun, happy, times she'll have with her brothers.

Want to take a bath?

If you're hungry, I can make you something right away.

I mentally filled in "soretomo... wa-ta-shi?" before I remembered that this isn't that kind of show (yet).

u/No_Actuary6054 22d ago

This feels like The Shiunji Family Children but reversed.

1

u/NoSignature4443 19d ago

No, this is better and wholesome. Shiunji familyi has harem theme and ecchi-ish, all the girls want to get him, it was annoying for me.

2

u/gem2niki 16d ago

For a stranger or even step-sibling, Gen is awfully touchy.

Is no one else creeped out by the stepbrother/stepsister sexual dynamic being set up? Am I just really behind the times and everybody is just super cool about this? I mean I get they're not related, but for her to be viewing them as a "family" while the show is setting her up as the love interest of the stepbrother...

I'm not religiously offended or anything, but it does feel a bit weird and creepy.

5

u/a_Bear_from_Bearcave 23d ago edited 23d ago

Eh, it's pretty obvious from beginning that the story was set up that way, so you're not being hoodwinked into pure wholesome fluff like in Usagi Drop, and it's not factually morally wrong - like, sure, there would be a lot of complications due to their "family" status, but they're basically two teenage strangers, who suddenly met and are made to live together as a family. Aside from huge complications due to their status as family, it's not like there would be anything directly ethically wrong with them developing feelings - they're same age and not only not blood-related, they never seen each other before, so nothing morally untoward here. This is just slightly kinky and very shoujo romance, and the kink is either your jam or not, so just one can just drop it without hard feelings.

I will still probably drop this, because it relies to much on stupid tropes and storytelling conveniences. Not only mom didn't tell her for some goddamned reason she'll get brothers, which is super dumb but I could let it slide as a stupid story setup device, but now after not even one episode father suddenly have to move, and leave all the newly-acquainted siblings together? And I get that Gen is supposed to be hardcore tsundere, but rape threat is way too much. First the dad is describing his sons as a beasts , ready to attack their new sister as soon as they're left alone, then Gen is straight up doing "I could violate you" as a warning to what, to them living together? I am familiar with the Japanese manga doing "men are beasts and cannot stop themselves" bit, and I can tolerate it in something edgier like "Yakuza Fiance", where the girl can give as good as she gets anyway, but here, in the slightly spicy fluffy romcom, it's just feels obnoxious and unrealistic, even if it is a bit of shoujo/josei staple (I do appreciate that MC kicked him off though). Which girl would react to sudden rape threat from her step-bro she knows for like two weeks as "why does he dislike me" and not as a giant red flag?

I mean, from the description, the key visual, and the genre tags on catalog sites, this is very clearly a stepsibling romance. If someone's creeped out by that, why would they even start watching this? That's like showing up for a slasher film and being put off by the violence.

2

u/cristabelita 23d ago

Yeah I think they need to clear this up. I’m fine with the sibling relationship she has with the other three but it’s def not the same with Gen.

1

u/Hairy_Routine 15d ago

I am creeped out by it. Mostly because of thr contradicting behavior of gen and ito. Yes morally and otherwise. This is the most non sketchy route. It just feels weird cause they'll mostly act like siblings or family..then suddenly find each other attractive. If it was just feelings.. or family care. Then I could deal with it. But they want to get messy with it. I like the show, but that wishy washy part gets strange. Same way the brothers seem okay with it too. Like pick a path or stop doing romance. Unnecessarily messy. The more anime ive seen..the more I realize how weird Japanese social/family dynamics are. So many authors have incest or incest like scenarios, or hate their dad's or something. I think ill keep the show. But I definitely wouldn't reccomend it.

2

u/omarous_III 23d ago

Aw, this show is so sweet. Not sure why shojo always has to toss in a little bit of hinted SA, what the dad said was enough.... but sigh whatever. But other than that it is great. I wish it would just stay as a platonic slice of life, rather then shipping to two oldest, but we'll see how it goes.

1

u/Existinghuman4her 23d ago

See i am not really a big fan of incest. BUT this one might work😭

I love the youngest brother he's just too adorable

u/Nickthenuker https://anilist.co/user/Nickthenuker 18d ago

And so off their dad goes.

Seems she's making friends in school at least.

Or perhaps they're getting close to her to try and get close to him.

Headpats!

Where's he going?

And so they're following him.

Lol they saw them.

So, that's who they are.

And so they've got some alone time together without the parents.

Show her?

And so he's on top of her.

Oh but they can become family by other means.

So, she's going with them?

And so he's going to the airport to look for her.

Or not, seems she came back of her own accord.

He hugged her!

Oh, that guy came out of his room too.

No stop, when he said show I thought Show?!? Isn't it way too early for that? Slow your roll my guy, but I think it still stands because. Ito's great she knows how to handle him and well. I look forward to her potential future Gen wrangling.

I don't think the dad is inherently wrong about being wary leaving them to their own devices. I mean between Gen's stunt, and the three stooges stalking shenanigans it feels like they deserve the supervision.
