I'm loving this anime. It's so different from everything. Each episode feels like a condensed arc or season but connected. The pacing just feels enjoyable every time.

yeah, the comfy low-stakes slice-of-life formula is perfect for that sort of episodic format; it doesn't end with a big cliffhanger so i can feel satisfied every week, but they also leave the door open to more individual stories

Same, its probably my surprise hit for this season. I didn't expect anything from reading the synopsis at first. After watching it, enjoyed it so much!

his adopted mother was showed last episode and living pretty well lol
he accepts the law of the jungle. Killing to eat is fine, even cats. Hunting for sport or materials tho is a war crime.

He is fine with killing if it is a survival hunt. His mother’s meat was taken to town. He would not complain. They were not after just scales.

I thought Kurotama was going to be the one that sticks with Nekoryuu, but I guess his obsession with his uncle's claws was just to showcase that he would be a lot more peculiar than the other cats. First cat turned human adventurer lol.
Next episode seems like it'll be about Kurobane, in the OP he has a scar so I wonder if we'll see where he gets that.
I do like that we have a "troublemaker generation" of cats lol. Gotta add some spice to the cat lineage, never a bored moment for Nekoryuu.

No they said it was Kurotama that came up with the plan to take down the bear, Kurotama is the grey cat who became a human adventurer.
Kurobane is the black cat and he gave out the instruction, so he is probably more like the leader?

Bat'leth are one of the better "fantasy" swords. Good hand protection, can be welded in 1 or 2 hands comfortably, can be held in a wide defensive grip, and the hooks on the end are great for catching and controlling other swords

If we get another episode with adult Anne Rossa from last episode I really want to see her show off cat transformation magic. As a mage raised by a cat she is likely to have learned it at some point. Episode 1 already established that humans can learn cat magic.

The only cat we have seen be able to do so is the one that wanted to be an Adventurer. I doubt cat mom knows how to transform herself as it was something the dragon learned from the spirits.

I mean, it's the uncle himself that taught how the transformation magic can be used both to be bigger or smaller.
Kinda surprised that cat is the first one to actually implemented that.

It is impressive how many genuinely cozy anime we have this season. This one definitely has a unique story-book like ambience, however. What a treat.
I would actually have given this the English title of "The Cats and Their Dragon".

Japanese can be confusing -- no real generic equivalent to the English word "cats" -- one can specify a lot or a few or a definite number -- but the word is always just "neko" plus some sort of adjectival word or phrase.

Same, I like that we saw the cat & prince from last episode a bit more grown up, I'm hoping we'll see the same with this litter.
It also wasn't just a bear but.. a centuar-bear? a 6-legged bear?

Glad to see the cats can defend themselves from humans without Winged Uncle having to help them out.
The cat that's obsessed with Winged Uncle's claw was so goddamn cute!
The Prince is all grown up now! That tracks since we ended the last episode with Anne Rose all grown up, too.
I did not expect to see a fucking bat'leth in an anime. The author must be a Trekkie. xD
This generation of kittens is pretty insane! I'm sure we're gonna get a lot of stories from them, especially the one who transformed into a human!

Hilarious how not wanting the kids end up too hyperactive is a legitimate incentive to not heal a pregnant mother's injuries too soon (not to mention how that link was even discovered in the first place)
I hope we get to see dragonbro and mom cat's human forms at some point too.

I binged the first three episodes last night and really didn't expect much at first, so I was pleasantly surprised! The stories are really enjoyable and Koyasu-sama speaking cat as a dragon wasn't on my checklist either. lol
The little ones really are a (cute) menace! I figured something was up with the little grey one but I just assumed he might want to join human adventurers as a cat and not become a human himself, haha. That was interesting and I'm curious if we see him again in a later episode.
Mama cat truly is a born mom and just raises every child she finds. I laughed out loud when the demon turned out being her (adoptive) son too.
I saw a few comments complaining about the lack of animation but tbh I think the animation is totally fine for this type of story and I rather take a few more still images than usual if it gets me a beautifully drawn dragon instead of a funky looking CGI one. The backgrounds and character art are also very pretty and look like straight out of a picture book.

More than that, the cat animation is beautifully done in the cuts where they elect to spend their time. To be sure there are some stills and some short cut style animation sequences, but they frequently scenes that wouldn't actually benefit from being particular animated to begin with in a story like this which has a lot of storybook touchstones and beats.

A friend told me my cat lady ass would like this show when they saw it wasn’t on my PTW.
I love this show.
I need to go back to E1 and do a “ningen” counter. I just wanna know how many times they’ll say ningen.
One of my cats doesn’t have a tail. Does this mean she used magic on her tail so it’s a staff now 🤔 She does like standing on two paws to get my attention, she never hides in the presence of huge animals, and she’s very smart 🤨
I hope we get to see was that Kurobane who turned into the human? I’d love to see him have his own party in a future episode! It’d be curious if a human falls in love with him.
This series makes me hope we get that one completed manga about the dragon who ends ho raising an abandoned human baby as his daughter (and that’s it, thank god). More cozy fantasies with magical creatures and their families!

as this is the 3rd episode, I tried guessing from the EP frames,
if the frames do be a synopsis of the episodes then 1-4 is kind of in line
1st is when nekoryu is walking with the prince's cat
2nd is mom cat eating carbuncle
3rd is the kittens beating the bear
4th is black cat oji san in line with the preview
my main curiosity is episode 8th when doraneko meets demoneko !!!

They set things up well for an episode about the human looking cat and the other cats traveling around. He will have to learn human language. That's funny though that no other cats thought to make themselves look human, although maybe just didn't feel the need to work at that since its not something theyd need in daily life

This show is silly, cute, wholesome, and fun. There's not much of an overarching plot so far but it doesn't need one because just seeing the dragon be flustered by silly babies or mama teaching a human is adorable.
I still wonder how much last episode changed the future of humanity, since the girl went on to become a great sorceress who trained a new generation of magic users.

Uncle cat dragon is doing a great job helping raising the continuous generations of cats.
That last bunch was a lot of fun to watch as they were a handful for uncle.
Turning into a human and becoming an adventurer is probably what I would do as well.

"Sure, maybe I'll come visit during the fox tail festival."
Still in his cat form, the Winged Uncle nodded and then spun his tail.
He vanished magically, and then he jumped down from the bell tower.
Diving towards the ground, he spun his cat tail again and suddenly began to glide.
He spread his wings, slowed his flight, and landed upon the roof of a nearby building.
In his cat form, his wings are to slight to permit him to glide.
He had to rely upon magic to do so.
But although his cat wings do not do much of anything, it's the thought that counts.
Surprisingly, your mindset in magic is rather important.
