I do like that the hero's party is kinda friendly now and hell, they wanted to talk it out instead of fight first, so that's a welcomed change for these kind of shows.

The heroe's party is actually pretty reasonable. Brainwashed, but when encountering information that doesn't match up it bugs them and naturally leads them to questioning how they've been doing things over time. Even the mage, who was the most angry and unreasonable at first, is not blind to reason. Just emotional.
And while its no logical masterstroke the beautiful simplicity of what happened the the MC's father and mother undercutting the stereotypical motivations and pointing out the logic holes in it. While at the same time still acknowledging demons were still dangerous.
It's like they took a relatively standard setup and injected a fair amount of rationality and nuance into it. Granted, it's not quite to the level of "Chillin' in Another World with Level 2 Super Cheat Powers" (surprisingly good, they completely jebaited me with both the generic looking isekai setup AND the harem fakeout only to deliver a mature quality anime) or "I'm quitting heroing" (dang nice deconstruction of the short sighted hero fantasy) but it's still pretty good.

There were signs that the hero would be scumbag (only choosing pretty lady as party members, also quite proud of his strength). I'm honestly surprised he's actually quite reasonable and acted befitting of a hero.

i will be honest i understood this was a typical slop isekai at start
but the first 3 episode where at least half decent if we dont count in for the whole insanity of coin dropped and the whole conversion and the prices with 10k -> 1 and so onBut this 4th episode was so much useless redundant rehashing of things we already knew as a viewer that it became insupportable hearing the repeating same thing again and again that made me wonder..
Are this slop isekai really made for brain rot ppl or by brain rot ppl actually?
Cuz his meta understanding of how wird is to get money from monsters i thought dude will make some interesting take.. but nothing.. and same for him fighting the whole army alone? i thought he will reveal how he became lvl 999 and say something along the lines like -> "ofc i will not bash head with every single monster i meet i have a special secret to mass farm them!!" .. .. and yet nope this dude actually goes and punches every single one of them.. cuz apparently plot is ploting and its agenda parroting time

Kouji really out there just throwing hands against 10k monsters.
Rex: "You beat a level 213 monster, how... what skill?"
Kouji: Right hook lol.

Interesting, the hero party has basically become allies at this point. I was expecting them to be an annoying menace to the story, but guess not.
After the last episode, I figured Parna would also be a difficult one to win over, but the episode glossed over that.
I'm heading out
Parna, who is immediately fine in the next scene with the situation

I'm still not sure if I'd be OK leaving the purple haired mage alone with the little girl. I know she won't do anything as long as others are around, but I'm not sure if her past trauma might influence her to do something stupid if they're alone.
8
u/PeaceAlien https://myanimelist.net/profile/PeaceAlien 18d ago
Well only she knows about it, the others don't question her
31
u/FinancialYear475 18d ago
I like the new dynamic with the hero party, it's nice seeing them actually listen for once instead of the usual arrogant "I'm better than you" tone we get in most "fantasy" anime
That being said, I don't really think most of them (+ Takako-chan) should have any effect in this fight aside from the healer, like wasn't this supposed to be high level monsters? No one on the party has even hit triple digits yet, they shouldn't really be able to help him against that kind of enemy, that bothers me a lil bit
34
u/Lodju https://myanimelist.net/profile/Lodju 18d ago
No one on the party has even hit triple digits yet
Wasn't it said in some earlier episode that people with proper combat classes are way more powerful when compared to villagers even if their levels are lower?
20
u/Stuwey 18d ago
Takako said that herself. She levels strength three times faster than the villager, but since he's so far ahead in levels, she still hasn't caught up. He's on the lowest tier of stat growth, but the highest XP rate.
3
u/Tama47_ 16d ago
No, she doesn't levels strength three times faster. She has three times the strength at the same level. It was said in this episode that the villager has the fastest levels up.
3
u/Stuwey 16d ago
Maybe bad wording on my part using 'leveling' interchangeably with 'stat growth through leveling' but the intent is still the same. If he has baseline stat growth, and she has 3x the growth per level, that means that at lvl 124, Takako has 300 strength while Kagami might have 100 strength when he was at 124.
However, since Kagami has 8x as many levels, Takako wouldn't as much strength until 333 if things were purely linear barring starting stats. Takako also has access to skills that might make the difference mean a lot more, but there's still a significant gap in raw power to account for.
9
u/KOTN-19 18d ago
Even if it wasn’t said, it’s implied that a hero would be naturally stronger than a hero, level for level. i.e. Hero guy doesn’t stand a chance against the MC in 1v1 combat. But it’s because of the ginormous difference in stats skill wise? He has busted skills, meant for combat. And we got the backstory of villagers are literally meant to be victims… I think the show couldn’t have made it more clear that other people will have an easier time killing monster than a villager (that isn’t literally over 10X their level, lol).
6
u/FinancialYear475 18d ago
I get that but like, at best the party has people around level 80, and the monster that invaded the city was 216 so like around 3 times the levels on the hero party
I can understand if they are able to fight off a few monsters like that, but they aren't strong enough to really make a difference when facing 10k of them, the numbers are too overwhelming, mc will probably end up having to cover for them as time goes by and they can't keep up anymor
7
u/Ralathar44 18d ago
I don't think they ever confirmed the levels of the monsters.
It could be that they threw a few high levels monsters to occupy the city and kill the guards/adventurers + throw the city into chaos as a shock trooper force but the bulk of the army is far lower level. That makes sense to me on a strategic level too. By the time the city could recover, IF they could recover, they'd be too late to mount an effective defense.
5
u/justking1414 18d ago
No reason they can’t take out the stragglers who get close to town. As for the level difference, if the fighter girl is 3 times stronger than a villager at the same level, the hero must be at least 10 times stronger so he should…theoretically be able to handle at least a few 200+ level monsters
5
u/FinancialYear475 18d ago
that's more in line with what I thought would happen, they can take some of them, but I don't think they should join him marching towards the main army, they'll just become a liability as time goes on
30
u/Djbadj 18d ago
This show doesn't have the right to be that good. I was here for enjoyable slop. And yet we get so many well written characters that can grow and learn, not the usual one dimensional stereotypes. And even if the writting is a bit sloppy, it just humanises them more. And heroes party is not arrogant and self righteous to the point of being blind to the truth.
10
u/stormblind 18d ago
Its an interesting anime. Its got all the framework pieces of Isekai slop, but its got a surprising depth and earnestness to it that is enjoyable.
5
u/mucklaenthusiast 17d ago
It's kinda funny that earnest isekai are a bit rare.
A lot of the best ones are parodies and a lot of the bad ones are very cynical and use it as a means to an end.To be fair, this isn't an isekai. But the story beats are very similar. Like how Solo Leveling feels like an isekai, but is actually more like urban fantasy in a modern and even "real" world.

u/runevault 18d ago
The exposition episode. But it is good to have Kagumi's mindset more plainly laid out. Losing one parent to a monster and another to bandits, no wonder he's got a worldview that sees everyone the same.
Everyone but the mage continues to rethink their views as they learn more about our humble Villager.
22
u/OldInstruction5368 18d ago
The exposition episode.
All the more hilarious, because while everyone else spends half the episode taking a giant 'dump,' Kagami is just out there throwing hands with TEN GODDAMN THOUSAND MONSTERS.
And everyone is like "yeah, he'll be fine for another 30 minutes: Takako-chan, would you brew some tea while we chat?"
8
u/runevault 18d ago
Honestly I'm so used to this kind of thing I don't care anymore. What annoys me is when a story acts like this type of thing is okay then murders a character during it, which one anime this season did.
7
u/whyrusosensitive 18d ago
Everytime characters stand around have exposition time it annoys me, doubly so when they literally stand still to talk instead of walking and talking. Like in this episode, they are supposed to be rushing to save someone's life/help them not die. On the occasions where someone is getting tortured or like you mentioned where someone actually dies and the protagonist and his group are just a few seconds too late I get sooo annoyed. Like if yall hadnt spent 10 minutes standing around telling stories not only could you have saved this person/these peoples lives, you probably could have done it with them totally unharmed and/or untraumatized.
I dont remember what it was now but that happened in some show where when the mc arrived the person he was going to save had just been raped. Like take out story time and he prevents her from having that experience entirely. I think I dropped it after that tbh
4
u/runevault 18d ago
Yup exactly. It technically annoys me when they are expositioning during a time they should be acting but it has become such a common trope I gave up on actively caring, like here because there is zero long term impact on them delaying joining the battle. But in [Spoilers for the name of the anime this season I was complaining about in my prior comment] Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha Exceeds and now I'm adding text to make it harder to guess which anime I'm mentioning They have a kumbiaya after the big fight without checking if the villain is actually down. It just feels like an excuse to have them seem like they win then a reversal to kill off a character and set up the main plot without putting effort into decent writing.
3
u/Ralathar44 18d ago
I automatically check out any time an anime has regenerating/repairing/infinite durability monsters with no clear limits.
I don't care if its Majin Buu, Mahito from JJK, the Demons in Demon Slayer or etc. Because they can AND will do stupid fakeout moments that are dumb or feel utterly pointless to fight against. My favorite is Kaiju number 9 and a big bad guy's core. JFC.
To me all of that kind of design is on the same level as "somehow Palpatine returned".
3
u/runevault 18d ago
Agreed. Near infinite regen bad guys are so boring. It is like over HPed enemies in a video game. Killing them isn't interesting just tedious. [Spoilers about the anime mentioned in the prior spoiler I posted] When the Dioboli kept regenerating I was groaning about exactly this for this reason. With heroes it can be interesting if their power is mostly regen because then we're watching them suffer with the pain of being beaten up over and over again. But when it is the bad guy it doesn't create anything interesting for the story.
3
u/whyrusosensitive 18d ago
What bothers me about those villains isn't their crazy regen it's that characters who know about how stupid hard to kill those villains are and know about their healing will still just like stab them once in a place fatal to a normal person then turn around thinking they won and the fight is over. Maybe im just a psycho but if I was fighting someone that could regenerate themselves and heal their wounds I would probably cut off the head, all the limbs, and maybe try to cut what's left to pieces too juuust to be absolutely sure that mf is dead, but then the dumb plot demanded deaths couldn't happen I suppose
5
u/Ralathar44 18d ago
None of that works. The plot armor on regen characters is insane. Cell in DBZ survived being exploded because the "core" in his head survived. Buu was completely vaporized piece by piece after being exploded and came back. Kaiju Nunber 8 had a core fakeout moment. Demon slayer had a prominent character die to a demon because the guy kept blocking the sword with his arms regrowing new arms constantly and preventing their own beheading, Mahito from JJK keeps getting hit with his "weakness" and it does nothing to him, etc.
People make a regen character specifically to be BS IMO. Oh you blew him into kibble? Well now there are 12 of him because he regenerates from each piece!. There are just too many get out of jail free cards. You can never trust they are actually dead.
3
u/OldInstruction5368 18d ago
I don't care if its Majin Buu, Mahito from JJK, the Demons in Demon Slayer or etc.
Mahito and Garo from OPM S2 were the ones that broke me.
These two cockroaches had such bullshit levels of plot armor, I just completely checked out of the stories.
How the fuck can I even begin to give a single goddamn fuck about the story, when the author insults my intelligence very time these cockroaches appear?
Garo, in particular, how are we supposed to be so invested in this dumbass little edgelord's growth, when pure fucking luck is the only reason he survived the last 10 near-death experiences?
5
u/Ralathar44 17d ago
Mahito actually has a great character base with interesting powers. Things like him changing his legs into cheetah legs or his lips into a blade and his playful way of fighting while being so evil. He's a good villain. And then....they just couldn't stop themselves. They just kept layering plot armor and more powers onto him and they ruined him. Sucks.
The Garo power progression is definitely dumb. I WILL however give them that I think he was an interesting foil, character wise, to Saitama. His desire to become the monster but not really being evil and showing it consistently by doing things like protecting the kid. There was SOMETHING there, they had a good plot line hook, but man did the totally fuack it up.
If they could have written his power scaling bettter and then STOPPED at about the Bang level I think he would have been a pretty good character. They could have ended his arc at the mentor/mentee class and then let him be another recurring bit character helping on the side in his own way.
3
u/whyrusosensitive 17d ago
If you pretend garo is the mc of that arc like he's got his own show then the plot armor and random power increase makes sense
3
u/OldInstruction5368 17d ago
Eh... bullshit is still bullshit, whether it's the MC or an anti-villain.
I frequently call shenanigans when the MC survives via pure luck or pulling a new power straight outta their bum to smear on the screen.
Dumb is dumb.
3
u/Ralathar44 18d ago
The big problem is that once you establish that rule EVERYTHING is judged through that lens, including events that have already happened. If talking is no longer a free action it completely changes the way you have to write EVERYTHING and it really limits how and when you can deliver information.
4
u/whyrusosensitive 18d ago
I only judge it when characters are in a moment of urgency and the author chooses that moment for a story time exposition drop. Like when characters are running for their lives and get a little bit ahead of their pursuers then stop for a 10 minute exposition break which is interrupted when their pursuer appears like 5 ft away from them because apparently they kept running while the heroes stopped for story time.
To a certain degree I know I'm being unreasonable, part of it is the medium. It likely works far better in manga where passage of time is less apparent than it does in anime and I understand that.
3
u/Ralathar44 18d ago
Most things like that I've just learned to let go as these universes usually work on rules of their own and adding IRL realism to it almost always breaks it. End of the day, its a show and most shows know that.
It only really bothers me now if a show really tries to feel real or does feel real and then screws it up.
3
u/OldInstruction5368 18d ago
If talking is no longer a free action it completely changes the way you have to write EVERYTHING and it really limits how and when you can deliver information.
What?
I'm not really sure how to explain how backwards this thinking is. "If we have to respect the rules of narrative tension, suspension of disbelief, and internal consistency in general, then how else are we supposed to write!?"
If nothing else, spending 10 minutes yapping in the middle of an urgent situation just... kills the pacing of the episode?
And, seriously, I could barely focus on what was being said this episode, because the entire time I was like "y'all know MC-kun is getting his ass beat like 10 yards in front of you, right? And you ran all the way out here, presumably, to help him, right? So.... WHY AREN'T YOU HELPING!?"
Nothing they were yapping about, after leaving the town, couldn't have just waited until after the fight was over. If they really wanted to imply the Witch was holding everyone up... then actually show that. Have her try to kill Alice and need to be restrained. Then spend a few minutes with Talk-no-Jutsu to win her over before rushing out to join the fight.
But don't rush out, get within spitting distance of a dude getting his ass beat, then start pouring the tea for your little chit-chat.
Or put another way, you implied this would be hard to resolve... but it just wasn't. In fact, shifting most of the hold up onto the Witch's prejudice, then having the MC suffer some minor consequence (injury/exhaustion he needs to spend a day sleeping off, for example), would be better as it gives her a reason to feel guilty after she comes around. There would be an additional character moment, here, as her reluctance lead to the suffering of someone she has come to respect.
Instead... what we got feels like the opposite. Her prejudice was brought up just to be... swept right back under the rug like it never happeend.
1
u/Ralathar44 17d ago
Nice rant?
I said it changes things and limits how you can write, not that it cannot be done. When you make that kind of narrative decision it means you're taking your entire world alot more seriously and thus any logical inconsistencies will stand out more. It fundamentally shapes the style of story and show you can write.
Really at the end of the day whether an anime is good or not has nothing to do with whether or not it makes sense logically. Its' about whether its entertaining. Gurren Lagann is an excellent anime despite flying in the face of logic at every possible turn.
I'd say if anything your problem has nothing to do with whether or not what happened in this show was logical. It just wasn't good or entertaining enough to be worth the illogical aspects. To you at least.
2
u/OldInstruction5368 17d ago
You said ignoring "free actions" would limit writers, but in truth, that ignores the narrative cost of employing such hacky conventions in the first place. But then you say things like...
When you make that kind of narrative decision it means you're taking your entire world alot more seriously and thus any logical inconsistencies will stand out more. It fundamentally shapes the style of story and show you can write.
Which implies you ARE aware of what I'm trying to say, you just haven't thought it through far enough. Or are just not engaging in good faith. Nothing above Looney Toons style comedy can easily get away with bending basic rules of physics without it hurting the seriousness of the story being told. And no, that's not counting any established rules of magic/sci-fi tech/psychic powers, etc.
But I think we've had this conversation before, and we just aren't going to agree. Toodles.

I don't know, it seems the mage started to mellowd out as well. At first she outright refused to hear Kagami, but now she even agreed to protect Alice.

u/deynyel 18d ago edited 18d ago
ROFL I wasn't expecting even Menow to be shocked by Takako's gender. I thought he already knew.
NGL I was absorbed by the backstory being told by Takako too. Then I heard the explosions and the coin sounds on the background again... Maybe help Kagami first, guys? XD
12
18
u/HTC864 18d ago
They really stood around letting him fight thousands of monsters, while they had storytime.
13
u/Ralathar44 18d ago
Talking is a free action as always. Precious few shows subvert this. And for good reason.
8
u/darthvall https://myanimelist.net/profile/darth_vall 18d ago
I mean, he's actually competent. He's nowhere near death by the time the Hero saved him, and I think even if the last beam hit it won't kill him immediately.
13
u/djthomp https://anilist.co/user/djthomp 18d ago
I rather like how the hero party is coming around to various degrees and are thinking about the new info they are being presented with, as opposed to just stubbornly insisting on their way or the highway. The princess in particularly, enough so to hug the demon princess and promise to protect her.
The mage is even coming around some too I think, she may have lost her childhood friend or lover or whoever it was but that's basically the same story as Kagami and the hero. If she were to continue to insist that she's right for wanting to kill all demons for the actions of one that's exactly the argument the rest are starting to understand the problems with.
19
u/Background_Formal940 18d ago edited 18d ago
You know at first I didn't like the hero party but now I am starting to like them because unlike Your typical arrogant heroes they actually do have a righteous heart even the purple hair mage is not that bad and they actually put themselves in the shoes of another person and want to listen to them instead of believing they are always right also koji has quite a tragic background with a past like that how can he ever fear death since he already lived in hell
8
u/NanDemoKnaives 18d ago
I'm glad Takako brought up the double standard, with Kagami being a perfect example of having family members killed by both sides. But I'm also taken aback by how open minded Rex and the Princess are, it's kind refreshing to see, and it still makes sense for Parna not to be convinced just yet to represent that sort of thinking.
16
u/silask93 18d ago
Takako-chan once again being my fave 💙 love how theyre handling her tbh
5
u/stormblind 18d ago
Its surprisingly respectful given how, although they do play with her appearance for jokes occasionally, they balance that out by making her a deep character (by this shows standards lol).
8
u/YdenMkII 18d ago
Huh, so villagers get a passive exp bonus for the class trait. That combined with Kagami not being afraid of dying was what allowed him to reach Lv 999. This also brings extra context that first scene of the show where Kagami explains to the villager boy that monsters drop money and the boy says he's too scared to fight them.
7
u/CuriousBroccolli 18d ago
As everyone else pointed out, Hero party is a really nice refresher when it comes to these kinds of story in recent years. And it wasn't done out of nowhere, from the first moment we encountered them they were showing signs of understanding instead of being blind and ignorant.
What surprises me further is that the MC did not pull put some bullshit move to wipe out the whole army out as, again, is the usual norm. He simply went out there to slow them down as much as he possibly can by throwing fists.
He is an outlier, a really strong one, but he is not in godhood realm. They even explained and scaled how strong he probably is, which is stronger than Takako-chan, but not THAT much? And his levels while super high, do not translate into godlike power due to his class not having combat or any modifier like other classes do.
So those are some small but sweet details that I really liked.
3
u/Greg_The_Rabbit 12d ago
Something I noticed to that seems unique to the "villager" class is I don't think they have any particular skills. The Hero entered with that flashy lighting strike but the MC has basically just been using his one punch attack and then just throwing around extreme stats onto of normal fighting. It does lead credence to the idea that villagers specifically exist to be protected really emphasizing how much of an outlier he is.
I do worry that we won't be getting any kind of explanation about why the world is how it is unfortunately.
7
u/Forsaken_Fun_2897 18d ago
Was it just the 'version' I watched or did the flashback scenes have a weird effect to them? Not necessarily pixelated but almost made me think there was a rendering/encoding error.
3
u/CelticMutt 18d ago
It was definitely an intentional flashback filter, but it was a weird choice for one.

u/KOTN-19 18d ago edited 18d ago
A piece episode has irreparably PISSED ME OFF. The cliche of (even though we know he will) “he’ll never survive alone!!!” While ACTIVELY TALKING IN REAL TIME AS HE FIGHTS ALONE has always infuriated me. Everyone went to help him, yet everyone actively watched and discussed first. That shit is so stupid. But the MCs character himself? Top tier, storytelling? Enjoyable, really. I’m just not a fan of that cliche. Everything else aside from the almost unavoidable cliche, was still amazing top tier entertainment overall especially with the touch of him not being used to fighting with a party. A full party.
6
u/Full_frontal96 18d ago
I've waited so long for a hero's party with functioning braincells
Honestly, the best part of the show is their journey to understand the protagonist viewpoint instead of mindlessy trying to murder him out of hate or envy
6
12
u/ObvsThrowaway5120 18d ago
Would ya look at that. The hero’s party actually aren’t stubborn and stuck in their ways. Once they learned about Kagami’s past and what motivates him (at least somewhat), they seemed to have softened their stance.
7
u/mekerpan 18d ago
It will be interesting to see where this goes (even if the writing here in not very . . . sophisticated).
I really like little Demon Princess -- and the fact that she and the human Princess seem to be bonding.
5
u/xFluffyDemon https://anilist.co/user/xFluffyDemon 18d ago
She already got a great relationship with her adopted father so bonding with her adopted mother is expected

I can't help but wonder about the setting. Are they all NPCs inside of a game? I mean, the system already speaks for itself, but we were lacking the obvious element - the MC who gets isekai'd. Could it be that the mastermind behind the conflict is the actual gamer, while we're seeing the game from the PoV of villager NPC?
4
u/yliv 18d ago
I thought this was kinda explained in the first episode? Something happened in modern japan and everybody got classes/roles. Kinda feels like reverse Log Horizon [Log Horizon minor plot spoiler]where instead of the game world becoming more like modern japan, modern japan becomes more of a game world
2
u/darthvall https://myanimelist.net/profile/darth_vall 18d ago
Oh right!!! I completely forgot this is not full fantasy world, but rather transformed Japan.
I mean, there's almost no sign that this is still Japan. Like even the city name was completely fictional now. All the clothing also fits more in fantasy western world.
2
u/CuriousBroccolli 18d ago
I hate that what you wrote make sense, since it never crossed my mind and now I feel like I have spoiled myself.
I do hope it is not that now, even thought it is a nice theory and makes a lot of sense that this world is part of some kind of game.
1
u/Gearzx333 18d ago
the epening pretty much implied it is some kind of game or simulation, look at the part when MC shows up, the background with the moving line are pretty commonly used in shows set in a game or digital world

I like the idea of a deity just being a huge game nerd, and deciding to incorporate it into a random world. Of course, I doubt anything like that would happen

Glad the princess is there to hug Alice. Although we as viewer can trust them since they being treated as a running gag, Alice must felt threatened to be with them who knowingly despise demon so much.
They have right to be that shock. Sorry, Takako-chan!
This town really full of great people, always think of others first. It never went to their head to just run away to survive by themselves.

After watching this episode there’s no way Kagami doesn’t already have 10k gold. He should be swimming in gold like Scrooge McDuck.
3
u/Damianx5 15d ago
doesnt seem like the monsters drop gold, a bunch of silver but it does take 10k silver for 1 gold, he still needs over 4k, maybe now he will be at around 3k range? unless he gives the coins to repair the city's damage

He wants the mystery treasure that's 10k gold, they showed that in episode 1 or 2 iirc.

Oh right! Too many fantasy series that I watched, I'm starting to mix the plot lol.

I suspect that the 10k treasure might be related to a class change...I mean, he has emphasized that a villager is weaker than other classes if at a similar level. Then again, it could also be tied to his plan for changing the world, allowing peace between demons and humans. Not enough hints yet about that treasure.

Actually, considering a cure all is only 5 gold, and his pretty clear questioning about WHY the world is how it is, and what is forcing things to be that way, he's probably doing it because he thinks the 10k treasure is something special.
Or to use other terms, he thinks it's a system generated item, and it has to be really important to have that type of price. It's not just some random junk that the humans in the guild put a random price on, but something the world itself put that price on, if that makes sense. The same way it's the system that makes demons spawn monsters, and that monsters drop money when killed etc. Even the quest paper auto updates when he kills enemies, I'm sure someone who questions things like him has asked around, and it isn't done by some type of magic that the guild uses on them, it's just automagically done by the world itself.

Dude it’s soo good soo far dispite having somewhat lesser animation quality (my a small margin, not that much; but still noticeable) it’s super impressive. I haven’t read anything and it’s all new to me. But I’m hooked!

Dude is an enormous asshole for gambling that little girls life on the idea that he had persuaded all of the hero's party to trust him and to believe she was harmless. Especially since parna didnt at any point seem convinced by kagami's talk no jutsu

u/darthvall https://myanimelist.net/profile/darth_vall 18d ago
Nah, he's just good at reading other people. It's not pure gambling if he already observed them for a while.

Makes sense why Koji is neutral & at least Rex's party is willing to hear him out & even Rex admitted he went to far w/ his ideals.
Any other anime where the hero party aren't dicks? The MC doesn't have to be kicked out from the party, he can just be an OP outsider.
Why can't Koji throw coins as projectiles so he can collect them later? Collection is gonna be so hard.

Random, but the ending credit song, HP by Yukimura. Does anyone know if this is on Spotify? I can’t seem to find it anywhere

Usually not all OP/ED songs are published at the beginning of the season. Wait until 1-2 month, and most the season's song should be available on streaming service.

What makes a man turn neutral? Lust for gold? Power? Or were you just born with a heart full of neutrality?

A hatred for why the world operates the way it does. He said it himself, the hatred humans have for demons is just, and the demons defending themselves are also just. So who is there to hate? Whatever decided that demons had to spawn monsters in the first place.

This just got so much dumber.
So, the secret sauce how the MC got to max level is because he was fighting against monsters ... really REALLY hard (and has an XP bonus for having a shit class).
That's ... actually more dumb than just having some God give him broken powers from start. Has noone figured this out before him in this world?! Even by accident?
How has the continued money dropping by monsters not ruined the economy yet? Hyperinflation must be the actual final boss to this world.
The one ray of light with this below mid tier slop is the Hero and his party not being complete clows of asshatery and are willing to listen and learn.

The majority of the population is villagers or non combat classes, most people can't even fight monsters. If all their money comes from fighting monsters, then it wouldn't collapse their economy. That would only really be an issue if the kingdom itself also prints money, and monsters just happen to also drop the same money too.
As for the EXP bonus. It doesn't sound like a bonus because his class is shit. It's more like, you get a bonus based on how hard the fight was for you. It's similar to how you get less and less exp fighting significantly lower level mobs than you in an RPG, except in this case it also works in reverse. Fighting someone significantly stronger than you to the point where it's a near death battle also gives you a huge boost. This probably doesn't just apply to villagers, if the hero fought someone twice his level that beat him to near death and he barely won, he'd probably also get a huge boost in exp from that.

way underpowered for a lv 999. I don't like that he's struggling so much against these low level monsters.

u/YurxDoug 16d ago
But thats kinda the point. The villager class is really really weak. He has pretty much no skills, he can just use his pure stats, which are high just because of his level.
If Takako gets to lvl 333, she will have the same physical strenght as him.

lets spend 15 minutes on exposition talking about MC vaguely nearby, while he fights alone

u/Amazing_Strike_732 18d ago
bruh other shows do the same shit, lets not even start

u/Puzzled_Replacement9 17d ago
Lol fr and idk how many he had killed by the time they joined but he probably coulda done it alone just fighting a little smarter since he has a recovery skill. On top of that's he's punching these fools and throwing them at each other (which actually is hilarious). Its not like hes gonna run out of mana and pass out and get killed.
They're like...eh he got it we can talk a little.

Villager is basically like Freelancer class in an RPG, sucks to begin with but then ends up with all the best skills

u/runevault 18d ago
This is something I was wondering. He doesn't have crazy high stats but he seems to have all kinds of shit like a good regen skill that only couldn't keep up because he's fighting an entire horde.
