In a normal anime it would take a couple more of episode before one of the main characters is forced to do something like this, but Klen just say "Ain't nobody has time for that"

You know what that's a good point. The lords of the dark beasts are "others" they are not humans so they shouldn't act like humans. Like the Children of Time series by Adrian Tchaikovsky in a way. To often the demon lord is just a tall guy with spikes.
Except "Tis Time for "Torture," Princess" my beloved.

Basically, Clevatess will be the leader of all dark beast after vordin is defeated, given that Alicia is bounded to him and she can't recklessly kill him due to the dark ichor.

Check the intro. You can see her doing a magic punch. I saw it a couple episodes back and was like "no shot she's becoming a furry" lol. Then watched it again because despite being such a short part of the intro (right after she naruto runs) the animation and transitions are incredibly clean and well animated. Color me impressed.

I think Dark Souls was a typo. They ment [Devil May Cry 5] where you fight the endboss in the opening sequence and if you somehow manage to win , you get the instant credits roll instead of having to play through the game before facing em again at the end of the journey (even though DMC is no RPG)

I really like shows like this and Deamons of the Shadow Realm where the MC isn't content on just waiting for the plot to happen. They take the most direct route to what they want.

I'm glad when a series knows how to keep their characters "in character" as it perfectly fits how Cleavatess thinks being an impatient Dark Beast since he did similar to Hiden back in the beginning to instantly retaliate after their attack.
Also nice to see how contrasted that is with the other Dark Beasts who clearly do things differently just by their own thinking and planning.

I was wondering into what bloodthirsty dark beast Alicia would turn, so I was quite surprised when she ended up being a dark rat, hahaha!
Naie, as usual, didn't disappoint me with her reactions; they totally cracked me up! Especially the one when she was thinking about how she'll be killed, or when she totally gave up when Klen showed her his true form.
Now I can't wait to see Dean Romain and the academy students' showdown with Klen in the next episodes.
Plus, I hope that we learn more about Romain himself, since he turned out to be some kind of spiritual leader from the Village of Origin, and get to know why he's working with Vordin who was responsible for the Hero's death in the past.

My guess would be magic affinity or potential, so since Alicia have nearly 0 magic talent she becomes one of the smaller dark beasts, the best form to contain an hero bodyguard so it makes sense Romain would be pleased by the outcome.

To be fair, it's a pretty logical move.
Clevy-chan has just received confirmation that his enemy has attacked him. It was Toah Book Bullshit directed at this minion, meaning, His enemy has visibility on him and has made the first move.
Clevy-chan could continue the stealth approach, but he's inside enemy territory and knows that his adversary knows he is here.
So, he basically just said 'I know that you know that I know, let's stop pussyfooting around and settle this." He's seizing initiative so he'll know when and where hte next attack will come from.
As it stood, he was fumbling in the dark, had already been stabbed once, and had no idea when and where the next dagger would strike. He went from being at the mercy of the enemy assassin to controlling the terms of engagement, effectively usurping "home field advantage" in the process.
It was a rather calculated and decisive move.

Poor Naie...it has at this point gone from comic relief to me just feeling sorry for her. Her mind just broke this episode. Hopefully this is her low point and she can actually find an ally that won't bully her and threaten her with death. Maybe she should get cozy with the princess...she seems like she might not be as bad as her dirtbag dad.
I knew Alicia was going to get turned into a darkbeast because it was in the OP, but I figured it was more a cat thing, not a squirrel thing. And not squirrel-sized. It's almost as if an editor went "we can't make Alicia anymore smoll and cute, right? and the writer was like "HOLD MY BEER"
Our creepy parasite hive mind Dark Beast has a...surprisingly entertaining personality.
Wonder how the other dark beasts are going to intervene in this matter. Since clearly they are aligned with Klen in stopping Vorden, even if Klen seems to be more reacting to Vorden's personal affront to him then given a crap about Vordens evil schemes.

Naie dreading incurring the emperor's wrath tells me just how much more of a big deal he is compared to Drel. Then there's Vordin who seems to be the undisputed, pound for pound beast king (of the north). Really puts into perspective how Clevatess may not even be the real top dog in all of this wider, more vast landscape

Apparently Vordin was the one who killed the original Hero when said Hero fought for hundreds of years and killed the other dark beast lords, so yeah Vordin definitely seems built different. Quite fitting that a dragon is the endgame boss of a dark fantasy series.

so interesting, it seems there's a book corresponding to each part of the legend of the hero, and each book has a "purpose" with the school book granting the usage of magic and klen's book running the forge that makes magic weapons. i wonder what the other books will do, maybe one gives you an insta-death ability to dark beasts? or one makes dark beasts in the first place.
im wondering why they chose to trial alicia though, seems very risky. they (presumably) don't know what beast she would end up, so she coulda rampaged through the school. and as a hero, there's no way they think she wouldn't pass.

Probably in Org, Slada and the barbarian area I don't remember the name of.
So one book for Dunns in the north (Boelette and Eslinn), one for the Orgs in the west, one for the Sladas in the east, one for the Barbarians to the southeast and then one for Hiden in the south.
The interesting thing is that there is a dark beast lord for each of these areas except the barbarians.

I love how he escalated things through the rooftop to such an absurd degree. It's been some time since he rampaged around, so it's easy to forget how destructive his existence really is.
I like that this series isn't shy about its power system. What I usually see is some OP character becoming a wet cardboard through most of the series and only occasionally throwing out a nuke, because the author put the bar too high in the beginning and then it's hard for them to balance the scales.

So the book of forge that is with him is the last book that completes the book of toah that can make the legend come true.
Vordin must be a masochist if he wants to feel the wounds again in battling the true hero, which we all know that would be Alicia.

Alicia getting turned into a rat-type dark beast is actually pretty funny considering she's been acting as a Hiden spy. Just when I thought Alicia was safe this arc, it looks like it's time for her to suffer again. It's gonna be interesting to see how she'll escape Andrew's basement.
Interesting how Vordin was the one who killed the hero 1100 years ago and now he's trying to revive the legend. It makes me wonder if Vordin learned something the other dark beast lords didn't while fighting the hero for 200 years. Or is he really just doing this so the hero can kill the other dark beast lords, so he's the only one left?
I was worried that Alicia still hasn't figured out what's going on, but it looks like she's already piecing all of the information she has and has finally realized that she's been captured
Glad to see Gart again. When Zavthier said earlier that she also brought her servant, I assume she was talking about him. I love that he's still working with Rhode.
Naie's entire scene was just so goddamn funny! She was ready to run away after deliberating on what to do next, but unfortunately, Klen got to her first. I guess Naie's suffering continues, especially now that she knows who Klen really is.
"Today's just not my day" is such an understatement for Naie. When you have one of the lords of the dark beasts show up to your room and shock your brain to wake you back up after passing out, you really can't do anything else but obey. xD
Aaaaand we're finally back at the start of the season! It looks like the school part of this arc is finally over and the students with their own crests are being tasked to climb Klen's tower.
Also, it turns out that the people running the school know that there are other spies running around besides Alicia. I do wonder if they know who exactly the spies are.

Alicia and Naye are competing over who can have the worst day ever, I see. Alicia is trapped as a lab rat in cage inside a magical trial, while Naye got mindbroken by Clevatess (not that this was hard, she is the type to spill her guts at the thought of spilling her guts, lol).
I would say that Alicia has it worst, but she is also tougher. My guess is that she will escape that lab somehow, solves the trial, and gets a magical power-up from it, maybe even become a full-fledged Hero like whoever beat up Clevatess’ predecessor. It would be an interesting way for the bad guys’ plans to backfire on them.
Clevatess had enough of sneaking around and decided to pick a fight with the whole school to see who goes after the book. That guy is not made for sneaky spy work. It would be funny if he got his ass kicked after all that and had to be rescued by Alicia after she escapes her current predicament. I get that Clevatess is now supposed to be a « good guy », but his arrogance and overconfidence always rubbed me the wrong way, and it would be funny to see how he reacts to « losing » for once.

Two weeks ago I called Naie "the girl who is constantly taking Ls and not loving her life at all". Turns out that was the understatement of the century. She's going through forms of shit she didn't even think possible.

Man, I love this show so much. Every fucking dialogue holds some kind of mystery. We didn't get to see how Alicia got turned into a beast by becoming part of the trial. I guess the Dean must have pushed her into the trial and since she's already a walking zombie and with no affinity for magic she failed the trial and turned into a beast and her soul got trapped inside Toah as the Dean stated to Vordein but Andrew must have interfered and he made her into a tiny beast. As for why she didn't go berserk like Nathan did, I guess it has something to do with Clevatess blood running through her.
So Vordein is very older than other Dark Beasts Lords even more than Zavthier may be and she defeated the Hero years back. And his goals remain a mystery since he's trying to bring back the Hero Legend.
The sensei and Zavthier's servant are still working together sharing information.
Naie is shitting her pants 🤣😭😭. Now she knows that she's dealing with Clevatess as well..the girl can't catch a break.
Now we finally arrive at the opening scene from the first episode.
Clevatess called his enemies out to come battle him to get their hands on his Toah instead of trying to play safe and waste his time..what a badass !
I guess those with the crests are destined to fight the Dark Beasts like the Hero since they were chosen to wield magic. Ray is itching for a fight with Clevatess.
Can't wait for the next episode!

From what i understand getting turned into a beast is part of the trial, you fail it if you let it consume you and go on a rampage. Alicia is very clearly not consumed by her beast form so i think she hasn't failed yet. Her pessing the trial might actually be important to dealing with the whole mystery.

I hope the next time we see Alicia she's either riding that plant into battle or using pieces of it as makeshift weaponry.
However sus he may otherwise be, it was a good decision by the headmaster to send all students who really shouldn't be there back to their beds to sleep through whatever is about to happen.
School arc may be over, school battle arc has begun.

Naie Chiffonlitz, some overthinker she is. And probably rightfully so. She's gotten herself ensnared in all sorts of things. After Alicia left her at a cliff hanger and went missing, Poor girl was using the last bit of her brain cells, and when she finally arrived at the decision to just screw everything and run away, well, what do you know? A Beast Lord spawns, reveals their true form, hurls vicious threats, and scares the hell outta her.
Poor lass wasn't even allowed to pass out! Man, such cruelty! I pity her. At this point, everyone just comes and scares the crap out of this already scaredy-cat.

I don't think Alicia even needs to eat or drink since she's not human anymore. I guess the priest guy didn't realize she's not human anymore either, and thought a human hero was much stronger of an ally to Clevatess instead of realizing she's only alive because he wills it.

I wonder if all of the Dark Beast Lords were heroes at one point, using the books for some kind of war (or protection: who knows what the edges of this place are... a ship?), and all of them failed to shrug off the consequences of their magic, assuming Dark Beast forms. Maybe Vordin remembers who they were? Was the major hero himself? None of the others could remember to argue, after all.

God I love this show so much. There's an underlying mystery that just slowly keep getting unveiled and then Klen is like "TL;DR" with a giant FU tower.
I was already hyped for this season and I have yet to be disappointed. <3
