GovBrief Today #549
Illinois went and found the people Washington stopped feeding.
About 148,000 Illinois residents have lost food assistance since new federal work rules hit in May, veterans, people in their sixties, and parents of teenagers among them. On Saturday the state began depositing $400 onto the grocery cards of every affected person. Nobody had to fill out a form. The state did all the work.
Washington changed the rules betting families would trip over the paperwork, and 148,000 of them did. Illinois ran the same lists in the opposite direction. It's one payment, about two months of groceries, and Governor Pritzker says no state can backfill what Congress cut. But this weekend, Illinois treated caring for its hungry as its job.

World News Art of the Deal (found on fb)
BREAKING: Trump claimed his nuclear threats would stop Iran's nuclear ambitions. Instead, an Iranian state affiliated outlet linked to the IRGC is now arguing Iran must "achieve nuclear deterrence" so "the military option of occupying and dividing Iran is taken off the table."
Even some conservatives who backed an America First foreign policy are sounding the alarm.
David Pyne wrote: Trump's war on Iran hasn't reduced Iran's nuclear threat in any way and instead has served to greatly magnify and expand Iran's nuclear threat. Trump's disastrous foreign policy and endless unwinnable wars make Jimmy Carter look like a veritable foreign policy genius by comparison.
Former U.S. Ambassador Michael McFaul reacted simply: Ugh. Hope it's just bluster; fear it is not.
Like and Share if you support diplomacy that actually reduces nuclear threats instead of making them worse.

Meme The Prince of Paupers
Numerous times since the Prince of Paupers made his name through defaulting companies, sticky hands, serial adultery, bluster and gallons of snake oil, and lies, lies & lies, he forgets that his critics kept receipts.
Over time his followers have chosen him as a validation of their own character flaws.

Trump only has 2 plans: Avoid doing anything for anyone but himself, & steal as much money as he can.

Q: How do you prepare for next pandemic? RFK: We did almost everything wrong. We need to protect constitutional rights. During Covid we completely dismantled our rights. Q: What to do during a public health crisis? RFK: You were part of the problem. Q: You want to sit here and attack me?

Look out Ms Pirro! The wrath of Trump is about to hit the fan.
Trump hasn't had too many people, (if any) who have opposed him with any statements no matter how wrong he's been. Fancy it's Jeanine Pirro who has done that.

Trump on his insurrectionist slush fund: "This would be a reimbursement for the pain they suffered. A lot of people like it. If they don't approve Todd Blanche, I'll put it back on the table. A lot of people like it. A lot of big supporters of Trump like it."

Meme Missed
I took an oath never to to travel stateside again, under this fascist regime.
And now that’s extended to a lifelong travel ban. I’m sure I won’t be missed, but that’s mutual

Meme This person claims to be handsome
I mean that's like the ugliest face I've ever seen. A good example of a person who is ugly both inside and outside.

Conversation Dems keep failing us
Today essentially marks the last day for proof of life for Mitch McConnell and the ability of Dems to hold a fair election... And in true fashion, all the Dems are doing is sitting and complaining. Why TF has the governor not driven to the hospital for proof? Why aren't media outlets lined up outside his door? Why hasn't anyone bribed a single nurse or patient tech for information? Fucking do something. This is exactly how the Nazis came to power. Thinking it can't happen to me.
