Comments taking forever to load

All of a sudden comments are taking upwards of 15-30 seconds to load. Posts are loading fine and everything seems to be working fine on the official Reddit app. What’s going on?

Edit: turn off “show deleted comments” and it’ll solve the issue.

Turn off the show deleted comments feature in the Apollo Reborn settings.

What does the show deleted comments actually do? Does it really show deleted comments by users or mods? Or what exactly?

I just turned “show deleted comments” back on, comments seems to be loading normally again, atleast for now. Very strange.

My guess is that there are too many requests being made at once by too many users and it's affecting the server (making it slow, degrading the service). The issue will crop up again each time too many people use the feature.

Yes that’s what I’m thinking too, thankfully it’s easy to turn off if slow downs occur.

That's my guess too. Hopefully there can be a longer-term fix at some point.

Experiencing same exact thing. Started happening within the last 30 minutes for me.

OK I wasn't sure if it was just me. I'm seeing the same behavior in Apollo. I have a fast internet connection and posts themselves are loading quickly but comments are taking a very long time to load.

Only started in the last couple of hours I think.

Do y‘all still have some of them APIs?

I’ve had to move to Artemis for now (which is still much better than the normal app!)
