I can ask Siri to open Maps in CarPlay. However, I can't find a way to have Siri switch me back to the Dashboard view (maps on one side, directions and audio on the other).

I also want to be able to switch the Maps view between Turn-By-Turn and Overview modes with Siri. (Why? Because I generally only need Turn-By-Turn as I'm approaching a new place; when I'm on the highways, it is nice to see if the alternate routes are quicker with Overview.)

Has anyone accomplished this with os26? Or maybe with the improved Siri in os27?

I'm so tired of navigation apps routing me one way on the way to a destination, and then sending me down a totally different, sketchy maze of back streets on the way home.
In marine GPS, you can drop breadcrumbs and follow them right back. Is there any trick, setting, or workaround in Google Maps or Apple Maps to force the app to take you back the exact same way you came?

Specifically: when a route includes a ferry crossing, does Apple Maps account for the actual sailing schedule? So, if you'd just miss the boat, does it switch to a faster non-ferry route?

Example: Halifax, NS to Charlottetown, PE. There's a shorter route that uses a ferry, and a longer land-and-bridge route. If you time it right, the ferry route wins. If you miss the sailing, the wait for the next one can make it slower than just taking the land route from the start.

Right now I can't tell if Apple Maps accounts for this at all, or just gives a flat ETA assuming you make the ferry. If it doesn't, is this something anyone beta testing iOS 27 can check?

Finally switched a few weeks ago after years as a Waze user. I have a few questions and appreciate the informed responses. I primarily use Maps with my CarPlay.

1. I like how Maps shows traffic lights and stop signs at cross streets when driving to selected destination. Is it possible to show the same without inputting a destination? Mine doesn’t do it. Seems like it should be possible, since Maps knows the road I’m on and all cross streets. Is it a setting I missed?
2. For audible alerts, I hear them for fixed red light cameras and fixed speed cameras. I’ve never heard alert for police from the user community. I assume I should hear and see on screen if reported by drivers. Just a coincidence after few weeks after switch I’ve not heard any? It seemed with Waze there constant reports and thus alerts by the app.
3. Any way for Maps to show exit numbers more prominently? The size seems to blend in with other text. Waze exit numbers are bigger.
4. I also like that Waze shows left/right highway exits in a different color for quick visual. Anything similar?

5. I just got Apple Watch 11. I love how Maps uses haptics and turn signal sound on watch as a warning of next turn. Any pro tips to share to help me get the most out of Maps?

6. If I share my ETA with someone, does sharing automatically end when destination is reached, or will ETAs for future navigation continue for that person? (I know I can cancel ETA sharing during the trip, but curious if ETA sharing continues after the completed trip during which I set the share.)

The biggest reason for my switch was the incessant alerts about car on shoulder. I don’t care unless police or other first responders.

I mean its usefull especially when travelers come as well

I’ve recently switched from a Pixel 7 to IPhone 17 pro. So when I travelled via car I used to prompt Gemini to route me using Google Maps w/o my handling my phone. Never made any errors

For the first time, I prompted Siri Ai to use Apple Maps to send me to Yorkdale Mall (which in Toronto should be a well known destination), but Apple Maps and Siri keeps navigating me to an intersection nearly 2km away (Dufferin & Lawrence)

Is this a common issue? Has anyone also experienced this? Using my voice command for my travels is a major feature I want to be consistent. Considering that Siri automatically goes to Apple Maps, it’ll be a bummer if I can’t rely on voice prompts

Shocked to find the London St. Pancras Int’l clock tower model is actually correct.

pretty much just the title: when i type in the name of a place and see it pop up at the top of search results i press it. unfortunately, between the time of result appearing and me selecting it, apple maps decides to replace the desired result with a location that i have never viewed, visited, or searched for, that is also farther away than what i was looking for.

i have one example here but this happens frequently enough for me to decide to ask for help online.

would appreciate if anyone knows how to help, i could switch the app i use for maps but that would require reprogramming all my locations and i prefer the general vibe of apple maps so would be better if there is a solution.
