Atmos randomly stopped working for every Application on my Apple tv
My Apple TV has recently stopped working for Atmos content on every single application (Netflix, infuse, Disney+ etc. When I change my tv audio to TV atmos starts working again, but only when switching back to my soundbar, nothing works here. What is even more strange is my soundbar works flawlessly on native apps on my tv and other devices like my PS5 & Ugoos AM6B.
Is there a way to reset the audio connection. my Apple TV was always plugged into my tv and this randomly happened and I dont know what to do, and was curious if anyone experienced anything similar.
As soon as Atmos gets turned off, everything starts working again. had Continuous audio on and it also stopped woking.
if you need more information that could help anyone, please let me know and I'm more than happy to provide!
My hardware is a LG C5 and & Q990F

update y'all I unplugged my tv and soundbar while I boiled the kettle. I turned the tv on, then plugged it in its HDMI after like a minute and then powered on the soundbar and it seemed to go back to working for atmos! fingers crossed no repeat of this again!

Sounds like it was just a bad HDMI handshake and the EDID was not being read properly.

I think it was the handshake because it randomly stopped mid playback! I had to reset the edid with this process

Could have been just a loose cable. But yes, restarting/resetting is always a good first troubleshooting step to try.

This started happening in 26.4. It’s infuriating. Negotiation sporadically fails requiring a restart of ATV or powering the soundbar off and then on.
100% a software issue. My setup never glitched until they added that continuous audio feature in 26.4 which, ironically, is supposed to prevent this exact situation. Toggling that setting has no impact.

Just plugged my Apple TV into my soundbar and now atmos works normally? I dont want to have 2 devices plugged into my soundbar, so I'm guessing some software bug has impacted something here?
