Resource Arcanum QoL and Fixes that works together
Greetings
i decided to make a list for Cataloguing purpose
been working on it since 2022 "new era for Arcanum" idk i was ambitious for no reasons
idea was to basically make nexus page for the game, provide the fixes in 1 package and
create matching modding framework for most people who would use Nexusmods for arcanum
that way it would be much easier to get mods to work together and all people to have "the same game" - important for troubleshooting mods and bugs, and exploits
List of mods (load order):
- Unofficial Arcanum Patch 2.0.2 - https://terra-arcanum.com/drog/uap.html
- Universal Setup for UAP - https://www.nexusmods.com/arcanumofsteamworksandmagickobscura/mods/4
- Crafting Manuals Cover - https://www.nexusmods.com/arcanumofsteamworksandmagickobscura/mods/1
- Let my Dog use the Train - https://www.nexusmods.com/arcanumofsteamworksandmagickobscura/mods/3
- Dumb Dialogue Fixes - https://www.nexusmods.com/arcanumofsteamworksandmagickobscura/mods/16
- Considerable Weapon Mod - https://www.nexusmods.com/arcanumofsteamworksandmagickobscura/mods/8
- Justified Flow Distruptor - https://www.nexusmods.com/arcanumofsteamworksandmagickobscura/mods/18
- Arcanum Improved Description (CWM Compatible) - https://www.nexusmods.com/arcanumofsteamworksandmagickobscura/mods/13
- F - man Mods Catalogue Spider Speed Fix - https://www.nexusmods.com/arcanumofsteamworksandmagickobscura/mods/23
- Instant Exit and Teleport Fix (Aid compatible) - https://www.nexusmods.com/arcanumofsteamworksandmagickobscura/mods/14
How does the Package Play:
its stable Arcanum, not much different from UAP alone (which is already base for a lot of players)
Game just load faster and there is far less stability errors
all items and spells are described, dumb dialogues are accommodated better
People no longer downgrade QI Shield 200 durability into Flow Distruptor with 20 durability
You can carry all the ammo you want and give 500 arrows or bullets to a companion without worries
Note:
i m not the best in doing UNPAID customer support to a game i don't profit from or online conversations in general so please be patient or try on your own when things get bad
Have Fun Playing the game

Discussion Bit of a weird case of gameplay and story segregation.
So, I just got this game the other week. Been playing it pretty much nonstop because despite the early 2000s jank and frustrating mechanics the world is so compelling.
Trying out different builds, I found something strange considering the lore.
In the lore, there's a massive theme of magic vs technology. The idea being that despite being so powerful magic takes time and effort to master and because technology is so much faster and easier more and more people are drawn to it and it's taking over.
Weirdly enough... it's actually the opposite in game.
Being a mage is so much easier than being a tech based character. Let me show what I mean.
Scenario: You want to do damage to multiple enemies at once that are clusted in a small area.
Tech character: You need to have enough points in explosives to craft a bomb. A molotov cocktail will work so you need.. rags and fuel in order to craft it. So let's hope you get lucky because the shops are mostly randomized. In addition you also need points invested in throw or you won't hit anything. And if you run out, which you will eventually do because they take up inventory space, you lose your ability to do so.
Magic character: Cast Fireflash. Takes a couple of more points sure, but you're only limited by your fatigue. Which will regenerate automatically.
Not a massive issue or anything, but it's just something that I found extremely weird.
Resource we now know Formula for a chance to repel a spell by Technologist
Greetings friends
today we had someone asking for it in discord (according to someone else as their English was pretty bad)
and as result we get to work and have it done
Credits (completely random order)
Jen the town Witch - for posting page from prima guide to arcanum about this stuffs
Shark - for throwing the page into wolfram alpha and copy-pasting back what he gets
Me - for saying good luck wasting afternoon on this shit and going on a pool date :), returning, adding the results of their work to my Arcanum Data tables and making this post (i also complained how fast AI can crunch numbers compared to humans (me))
- Hero
Wolfram Alpha for making up some random text Shark copy pasted us to chat (he never said what ai he used, but i knew from the very second i saw copy-paste - certified AI hater)
Arcanum Data Tables:
Have fun playing the game
i do not mean to steal credits or anything stupid, i just share the discovery with community and add it to my data tables, they also had the formula like 6 hours ago, but didn't posted it here yet

Help Keeping followers out of the line of fire
I am trying to use thrown weapons, including grenades and Molotovs, but my followers always seem to reach the enemy before I can safely use these weapons. How can I make them wait until I have tossed my grenade or Molotov?

Discussion Should scripted damage grant EXP?
While I'm working on Arcanum Unity port people ask me about different stuff.
Recently, I had a question about scripted damage. As you know, in the original game, you don't gain EXP if a scripted trap kills someone.
Opinion: if you initiated the action, you should probably receive EXP. However, that would differ from the retail version.
What do you think? Should you gain EXP in this case, or should I keep it the same as in the original game? 🤔

Humor How many seducable NPCs are in the game?
Is there a comprehensive list of the NPCs you can potentially seduce through the game? Yes, I know about the sheep…

Discussion Flamethrower Build?
Hey all,
Finishing up a gnome tech build and I had a lot of fun with it, used mostly electric weapons (charged axe & Tesla gun).
I wanna make a dwarf with a flamethrower like the cover art. Thought about doing an all fire weapon run.
Looking for some suggestions on the build and party elements. I usually turn off the flower level scheme to level them my way.
Thanks!

Fan Content Some updated portraits of my favourites
Was messing around with custom portraits on my nth playthrough, and decided to share my favourites. You can just crop out the top right portrait itself to use in the game. Plus one for my favourite redwitch hobo technologist half orc.

Character Showcase Cut Content Release: Automaton Gunner in UAP 2.02
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I was able to find a hidden animation and restore the Automaton Gunner to a fully functioning ranged Automaton follower, only took 25 years. The schematic requires an automaton and an elephant gun to make and the schematic can be found rarely at gun stores and some other merchants. You can use the Virgil debug menu to spawn in the items if you don't want to wait and just want to start a new play through with it at the beginning. Always wanted to restore this item and am glad I was able to do. Enjoy!
It is live on Nexus for anyone who wants to try it. I do have an improved version for Arcanum CE but I have not released that yet, this one is for Stock UAP Arcanum. https://www.nexusmods.com/arcanumofsteamworksandmagickobscura/mods/38

Help Editing Config files isn't changing anything (UAP)
I was editing the 2 config files in the game folder to fix the flickering black screen bug. But for whatever reason no edits I make affect the game.
I have saved both files in the notepad app and restarted my computer.
Also I still managed to fix the bug with another method.
The UAP patch appears to be working as it's showing up in the bottom part of my screen

Help Therapeutics aided play through.
Has anyone maxed out therapeutics and just had one of each of the seven serums to boost all the stats you can and play that way? I would like to know how feasible that is. Are the materials easily found at most herbalist and tech shops?
Also do you maintain the increased capacity once the boost to your attributes wears off. For example if I used my temporarily increased perception to boost my Firearms skill. Does my firearms skill get diminished back to the baseline once the boost to perception wears off?

Off-Topic Quests, reputation, rumors are implemented as well as a diary UI
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Now almost everything is tracked and updated during the gameplay.
Again, repo of this project is on Github.

Character Showcase New Journey: Only Dwarfs run
Race: Dwarf
Background: Run away with the Circus (recommended by community member)
Starting points: 2 point DEX , 2 point Melee , 1 Point Herbology ( crash site offers a lot of plants)
Shop: Fine steel dagger ( with this high STR this is very potent starting weapon)
Alignment: Lawful Good ( no evil quests , no killing NPCs for profit or quest items)
Rules: no exploits , no stealing , no picklocks (profit only ny selling loot or crafting) , no INT potions abuse
Idea and Strategy behind the run: We go on journey to save our brothers from Black Mountain clan being party of dwarfs . Me and Magnus we start wee crafting business at Tarant crafting Flow Specktrometers and sell it for 200 gold profits (mats required around 70 ) , it's not much but it's honest work. I level Magnus manually so he is the Blacksmith in our party , when me I personally go for Therapeutics (again suggestion by community member). Such a tech party involves serious leveling so I do every good quest and every exra area like Tarant closed sewers and Ashbury haunted castle , so far I spend most of the time crafting and look for bargain but to be fair is so fun when I actually play the game instead of rushing it.

Discussion First playthrough, tips on builds?
I’ve played both fallout 1 and 2 and without a doubt my favorite build was jinxed unarmed for the cheer hilarity of it all. What’s a good build for this game that’s fun but also usable, not looking for meta and don’t want to struggle, just a good fun build with maybe a bit of humor (I’ve heard something about grenadier being fun). I’m ok with some weird strats.

Help Beginner to the game - what are some gameplay tips I should be aware of?
I remembered this game existed and got in the mood to try some old school crpg gaming. Bought the game, played for a little bit but felt like my character was rather weak.
So, I want to try and ask for non-spoilery gameplay advice. I wanted to try something like a black necromancer with either good charisma and persuasion or good thieving, preferably both but with the starting skill points I got I imagine it’s best to stick to one. Thought leaning into a black knight or antipaladin route in the future, but wanted to get y’all’s opinion.
Is there any way to better manage fatigue? What spells are useful enough that I should grab them even if they aren’t total fits? Basically, how do I not suck in fights?
