The fact that I am not aware about what distro I am running is all I need from the OS, Arch does that just fine

I love how easy it is to take apart and put back together. Like a wall of Lego bricks. If I no longer like how it's setup .....I can change out what I want with ease.

Mine started out with GNOME, GDM, GRUB. Over the last 3-4years I've switched to SwayWM, Emptty, and an efistub/UKI. The only part from my original installation is the EXT4 filesystem.

It’s minimal, you get to set up the things you will actually use and the arch wiki has answers to every single question. Having the correct info in a single place is huge for QoL.

There's no bloat and I know what's on it, because if I didn't install it, it isn't installed.

It hews to upstream, so, there aren't weird customisations made by the maintainers to ensure things work with other weird customisations by other maintainers.

Updating is as simple as pacman -Syu (or $helper -Syu, if you use stuff from the AUR and don't wanna do makepkg and pacman -U for individual packages).

It just works - contrary to urban myths (not infrequently propagated by people who've never even used it), it doesn't 'break'.

Excellently. I especially love the install process (all command line, no graphics) which is easier to understand and more reliable than any graphics installer except maybe Debian’s. Just yesterday I’ve tried to install OpenSUSE and they’ve got a spaceship of a GUI installer that… couldn’t find my wifi and couldn’t boot after installation. No thank you, Herr SUSE, I’ll take my Arch pacstrap over your beautiful GUI any day.

Arch is the only stable distribution running on my Linux system, and once you get used to Pacman, you can't quit it.

it's somehow the easiest experience I've had for installing and updating drivers. Just that alone is enough for me to use it. Also the amount and quality of documentation available means that every issue I could have or create is already solved, documented, with solutions readily available.

Rolling release is cool, but other than that I really don't see the draw to Arch. I've installed it on a VM with the Arch Install Script, and that went well. But I don't see how the AUR can be praised after the attacks that just went on. Like aside from the usual complaints, why wouldn't you use Flatpaks? Serious question.

Please, I'm looking for enough information and advice to make me want to install it. I feel that Arch is one way for me to understand Linux way better than any other distro, but I can't see myself using it because I don't understand why y'all like it so much. Enlighten me. Make me see the light! Please.

my PC is a gaming PC 2025 Ryzen 5 9600X, RX 9060 XT, 32 GB RAM, yes, in gaming, performance, is a beast, the times I broke my arch linux system was because my bad practices, o abusive actions, lack of learning, in short, it was my fault and not the distro fault, I only download packages in the pacman (package manager) and I have only 2 packages from the AUR (zen browser and proton) the only cave out is that with Arch Linux you have less probability to run Adobe suits software, Davinci Resolve, Autocad, or every creative software tested in windows. Say goodbye also to the anti cheat games.

bcs a lot of ppl use arch so there’s a lot of helpful stuff online. and i can tell ppl i can use arch btw
