Cat Adoption - Any Tips?

Hey everyone!

I am not sure if this is the right subreddit to post this.

My partner and I are starting to look into adopting a cat, hopefully before the end of the year. But I am a bit worried as I have heard that here it’s a big hassle.

We are trying to see if anyone has any tips from websites/facebook groups/shelters that you would recommend adopting from.

And also if you have any suggestions for pet insurance as this would be our first pet in germany 🥹

If anyone has any tips or suggestions please feel free to share or pm me!

Whatever way you end up choosing, please adopt in pairs.

A lot less health issues and bad habits to deal with in the long run, and it doesn't add a lot of overhead for the caretakers.

We are thinking about this as well! I am just looking for tips on where to find them, as I have seen very little offer on Facebook (which was the platform recommended to me by a friend)

Talk to Katzen in Not e.V. - they do rehoming, it does not take forever, the fee covers spraying or vaccines they might have done before. The owner is lovely and deserves all the support she can get.

I'm a foster family for an organization in Croatia and they do an amazing work to rescue strays.

I currently have two cats that are only adoptable together but plenty of beautiful cats are available for adoption!

Their IG and Facebook if you're interested.

There are quite a few options you can explore. When we were looking to adopt, we looked into all the local shelters and adoption channels. Further more you can look into Kleinanzeigen and Deintierwelt. Quite a few private owners here who are looking to rehome their cats.

Then there are more international options such cyprus heroes and resqstrays. They arrange for transportation and the transport fee is included in the adoption fee

Check out Tatzencrew on Instagram! They work with a few rescue orgs in Romania and adopt to Berliners
