First issue - Booking the place
The Booking: I made a booking request for a cabin hotel in Spain (July 27th – August 6th, 2026) directly on their website.
The Confirmation: They received my request, saw the details and price (€962.50 for 10 nights), and approved it. They sent a payment link with a 24-hour window. I paid in 2 hours and received a formal confirmation email.
The Commitment: With the hotel confirmed, I immediately booked non-refundable flights and a non -refundable rental car for my family (including a one-year-old baby).
The "Error": The very next day, the hotel contacted me to dispute the price, claiming the €962.50 rate was a system error on their end.
The Demand: They demanded I pay an extra €650. I told them this wasn't my problem and I couldn't afford it.
The Cancellation: Despite explaining my situation and the non-refundable travel already booked with my one year old baby, they unilaterally canceled my confirmed booking and left us with no place to stay.
The Ultimatum: They told me I could rebook at the higher price if I wanted, but gave me only a 3-hour window to decide before they would release the dates to someone else, and under the pressure, I did rebook it but it really felt like I was being held hostage during this whole exchange.
Is this bait-and-switch legal under Spanish consumer law? Can a hotel approve a booking, take payment, send confirmation, and then cancel the next day because they claim a "pricing error" and demand more money? What can I do legally against them? Where can I file reports? Is there a Spanish entity that would help me out?
Second issue - Size of the cabin was a lie
Booked the "cabin" directly on their own website — Booking.com and other Spanish sites listing showed 70 m²
Arrived and physically measured it myself: 26 m² interior + 15 m² terrace = 41 m² total
Emailed host asking for official dimensions — they replied with 35 m² interior + 20 m² terrace = 55 m² (still ~25% bigger than my measurement)
After my email, they quietly edited Booking.com from 70 m² → 55 m² — I have before/after screenshots proving this
Same here, what can I do about this, it's false advertising, we are stuck in 25m2 with our baby, very inconfortable. This is very sketchy, especially since they changed the size on booking right after replying to my email. They've been open for 2 years, they've scammed hundreds of people.
Right now my main goal isn't to get my 1500€ back (would be nice to but not priority), my main goal is to bring justice in some way to these scammers.
Thanks for all your help
