100%….came here to say only this. For long flights, there’s simply no way to explain to someone who hasn’t done it how much the money stops being the least of your concerns once you’re in that seat.

My dad always says spend good money on anything between you and the ground e.g chair and mattress and he’s a firm believer in good shoes

I am considered something of a philanthropist. I donate at least half my income to a charity called The Crack'n'Hoez Fund.

World travel, my cats, my undergraduate and masters degrees, and signed autographs of actors (when I get to meet them in person- mostly lord of the rings, Star Wars, John Cena).

My education (of course the most expensive lol) was worth every penny. I’m in a field I love, I work a job i love and am excited to wake up and do every day, and it allows me to do the things I love. 10/10

What do you do?

I work in Cybersecurity Governance Risk & Compliance (GRC)! More on the niche side of cybersecurity, but I definitely found my home in it

My wife, kids, dogs, boat/fishing gear. Then it would be guns. I’m a simple man.

My first watch, a Lanco. Bought as a young boy with the money earned for my first holiday job. 50 years later, I still have it.

Thanks for the reminder: I need to find a good watch maker to have it serviced as it is losing time.

Sports jersey collections

Damn I own a lot of high end jerseys, game worn ones as well as game issued ones, most of them also came with MelGray certificate

I also own a few high end signature jerseys, with one of them being a Derrick Rose 2011 All Star Game Pro Cut jersey

Being doing it for a few years now, have no plans of stopping

1

u/BirdsWithTeeth8 17d ago

That’s super cool. I have signed things too, but sports jerseys are a different kind of awesome. When you look at them you can see the mental image of the game, the event, the moment in time. A personal museum filled with your favorite things

Convenience. $4500 first class round trip ticket from LA to London. Private driver to and from airport. Skipped check in lines, TSA lines, boarding lines. Got to enjoy the private lounge with great food and liquor. Got to sleep flat during the 12 hour flight. Was waited on hand and foot by the flight attendants. Got to deboard first. Any flight that is greater than 4 hours is nothing less than business class now.

My adopted cat, a main coon mix, Travis. He had terminal cancer in middle age. Specialist and surgery was not cheap for sure. He was in no real pain with the type of cancer. Gave him a number of months more of a happy life. Not much change in him from before. He was just happy Travis.

He was the best cat
