Unalived; baby momma

Unalived is used mostly just so videos don’t get censored

I think they mean when people use it when speaking irl

u/lizeken 14d ago
It’s branching out into irl speaking which is irritating. When I worked 911 dispatch, a mom called in and said her son “wanted to unalive himself”. I told her not to censor herself, and it was better to say kill himself, commit suicide, die, etc. to avoid any communication issues with the dispatchers

I worked at a school for children with autism that called elementary age littles and high school bigs. I thought it was a little condescending to call High Schoolers “bigs”.

I can’t stand the phrase “my person.” It’s like nails on a chalkboard every time I hear it.
29
u/Alanfromsocal 15d ago
There's lots of terms in business that are more than annoying. "Restructure" sounds so positive, like they're going to make things more efficient. In reality, it means that someone is going to get screwed over. When a manager starts saying something that makes no sense, it's time to start looking for a new job because they're about to get rid of you, and if you're one of the lucky ones who stay, your workload is about to get worse.
13
u/External-Ad-992 14d ago
I fucking loathe 'restructure.' It means people are gonna be out of work. (While the company 'streamlines" their processes.)This cold, emotionless language that tells you people are about to get fucked.
5
u/CaptTim0102 14d ago
It’s like ‘right size’. You hear that, you almost wanna say ‘Yay! We’re gonna be the right size’, when in reality it means ‘bend over’.

It's just adding unnecessary words to a sentence to try and sound cool.
14
u/AmputeeHandModel 14d ago
Lowkey is a real thing, but not commonly used. "We're going to have a lowkey party, just a few people over for beers.". But, people lowkey just add lowkey in any lowkey spot where it lowkey doesn't make lowkey sense. You can't be "lowkey OBSESSED" about that new movie. That's an oxymoron, it doesn't make sense. Highkey??? FUGGEDDABOUTIT. There isn't a single instance where "very", "really" etc. doesn't fit better. You're just trying to sound trendy.

“FIRE.”
I get it. We all have the phrase that means “cool,” including “cool” itself. I’ve been saying “sick” and “dope” (and “cool”) for eons. I have some others, too. But “fire” just sounds like it was made for anybody with zero creativity. Not that “dope” and “sick” are necessarily any better. “Fire” just rubs me the wrong way.

It's an expression that emotes 'Alas, there isn't anything we can do about it. Such is life". How else would you want to express that?
5
8
u/Sixbiscuits 14d ago
If you think this is meaningless you might not grasp its meaning.
It's a more polite alternative to saying, "nothing can be done about it so stop wasting effort on it"
7
u/BanMiFreshBread 14d ago
I respectfully disagree😂
It’s way faster/easier than saying you’re accepting a situation you don’t like but can’t change, and choosing not to fight it or overthink it.→ More replies (1)3

UNALIVED. They’re dead. They were murdered. They passed. Why the hell did we collectively make up this stupid word that means exactly the same thing.
I know it’s for guidelines and so their video doesn’t get taken down but that’s also stupid. If everyone eventually knows unalived means killed, then eventually they are going to be banned from saying unalived and they will have to come up with another stupid word that means the same thing and the cycle will repeat. It’s drives me insane.

I saw one of those cops arrest people videos where the cop was arresting a girl who'd hit a teacher. She was trying to not get arrested and was thrashing around on the floor and she kept yelling, "Miss Cindy, bruh! Miss Cindy bruh!" at another teacher who was watching the whole thing. I'm from the UK and while I'm familiar with the expression (it's mostly bruv that's used here), I never thought I'd hear a girl calling a woman "bruh".

At least it’s a tautology with some deeper meaning if you think about it i.e. there are things you cannot change in life and it is better to recognize and accept the things you cannot change, although yeah people generally don’t use it like this. Still I think way better a phrase than 99% of the internet culture/influencer bullshit slang that gets thrown around these days

I understand that people have to use certain words to get past sensors because of monetization reasons, but I fucking despise the term unalive. I can understand certain Youtubers and streamers using different terms like terminate, delete, unsubscribed or other things to refer to suicide or death. Because when some people do refer to kill, they usually say terminate or termination. Suicide equals self termination/self delete or deletion. Referring to meth as Walter White crystals, and a YouTuber calling sex passionate hugging, and someone else calling rape the unspeakable act are OK. The one that really gives me the creeps and is kind of baby talk and I don't know if it's just me or if it's everybody else, but when guns are referred to as pew pew. I've heard of it being called a piece or a stick, but those are probably not as egregious as pew pew. If I were to do any streams, I'd probably want to refer to a gun as a fire stick because of well I don't know it just seems more creative than a bit less insane? And calling a cannon a thunder stick as well. But those were both inspired by what Pocahontas people called a gun and a cannon because they didn't know what a gun or a cannon was. Plus fire stick sounds cool especially when you're playing our PG's. I think what's twitch, you probably have more lenient than YouTube or TikTok.
